DEAR FRIENDS

In 2012 we implemented better processes and efficiencies, created partnerships where everyone has “skin in the game,” and developed an alignment of interest for success. So, what have we done? We have moved dirt (lots and lots of dirt), built sustainable infrastructure, erected quality buildings, created jobs, completed the Vivion Road Bridge and upgraded many roads. Residential growth is on the rise in new housing areas. We have launched sustainable, environmentally friendly practices citywide and branded the initiative. We continue to deliver services

that our citizens once again rated as “outstanding.” And we’ve brought our community together, through a host of programs and fun events that enrich us all. Best of all, “we” (the City) didn’t do this. You did. It was your voice – through surveys, conversations, action and involvement. You showed us the way and helped us stay focused on what really matters: preserving what we have, and preparing for the journey to an even greater future. I am grateful to all of our residents, the Board of Aldermen, our City staff members and even those outside our City who share our vision as we continue to make Riverside a place that is truly “Upstream from ordinary.” All the best, Kathy Rose Mayor

In July 2012, construction began to replace the antiquated, two-lane bridge at Route 69 over Line Creek. The total budget was $1.5 million, with MoDOT providing federal funding to assist with the project. An estimated 10,000 cars that travel the bridge daily were rerouted when the bridge closed in late August. It reopened less than two months later (ahead of schedule) on Oct. 12, complete with a sidewalk and trail that will eventually connect to the Line Creek Trail system.
