You will read more about this later in the newsletter but Tri-Valley held a 50th Anniversary open house at the Administrative Office on June 8th. Folks have asked why we held the event on June 8, which was a Monday? The reason is that June 8th is the day the Minnesota Secretary of State recorded the Articles of Incorporation that formed Tri-Valley Opportunity Council. The Articles of Incorporation were written as the result of many community meetings and a group of individuals who stuck their necks out to serve as the original members of Tri-Valley’s Board of Directors. When I think of the thousands of individuals we serve annually, it really makes me wish our Annual Report collection was complete and more consistent in content. I am sure the numbers of individuals served and different services provided to communities over 50 years would be staggering to behold. Tri-Valley’s Board of Directors held their Annual Meeting on June 9th. During the meeting, new officers were elected. The Executive Committee for the next year is as follows: Chair: LeRoy Vonasek Vice-Chair: Mark Kroulik Secretary: Linda Grinde Treasurer: Don Diedrich Thank you to Dr. Linda Neuerburg for her three years of leadership as Chair and to Nick Nicholas for his work as our Treasurer. Also during the meeting the board approved our Fiscal Policy Manual. You can expect to hear about training opportunities very soon. The application for Housing Tax Credits went in for the Agassiz Townhomes project on June 18. I can assure readers that participating in the Minnesota Housing Multifamily RFP is not for the faint of heart. Thank goodness for our partners Three Rivers Community Action, the City of Crookston and the Crookston Housing and Economic Development Authority. Without their help I can guarantee Tri-Valley would not be in a position to help Crookston address its housing needs. We will not hear if our application is successful in securing tax credits until the fall. After all the activity that went in to our application, now we wait.
