UMC at the Crookston Center East Grand Forks Event On July 15 the East Grand Forks center held an emergency personnel event. Altru Ambulance Services and the East Grand Forks Police and Fire Departments opened their vehicles and allowed the kids to explore and ask questions about their various services and answered questions about their positions.
University of Minnesota Crookston senior Lydia Hegge, who is majoring in Health Sciences and working in the organic chemistry lab this summer, along with Associate Professor Brian Dingmann of the Math, Science and Technology Departments visit with preschoolers at Tri-Valley’s Head Start to teach them about the ABC’s of bugs Thursday.
Breckenridge Couponing Class Breckenridge Migrant and Seasonal Head Start put on a couponing class for parent training. A parent survey was distributed to all families and coupon training yielded the most votes. Carla Thiele from the TLC TV show “Extreme Couponing” taught the class. She provided parents with websites and databases for coupons as well as a one hour training on how to use coupons and the lingo associated with it. She also provided parents with several coupon inserts that can be found inside each weekly issue of the Star Tribune. Breckenridge Migrant and Seasonal Head Start provided parents with a “get started” coupon kit including a coupon binder, scissors, calculators, highlighters, labels, pens and paperclips.
