East Baton Rouge Parish Library Showcases Inventions at Maker Faire The East Baton Rouge Parish Library organizes the Baton Rouge Mini Maker Faire. DoIt-Yourselfers, dubbed makers, come together to showcase their original work. Makers interest range from technology, to crafting, to design. Baton Rouge, La.: On Oct. 8, 2016, the East Baton Rouge Parish library welcomes makers of all skillsets to showcase their inventions at the Baton Rouge Mini Maker Faire. The Library’s Main Branch and began hosting the Makers Faire in 2014. It is independently organized and operated under license from Maker Media, Inc. and collaborates with sponsors such as: Acadian Robotics, BREC, and EA Baton Rouge. Makers included on the 2016 roster range from Beyond the Garage, Louisiana Beard and Facial Hair Association, Mythic Magic, and LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology. Organizer Jane Doe says, “Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.” The Makers Faire will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free admission; however, tickets for the event are available through Everbrite. By signing up for a ticket, attendees will be entered into a random drawing with a chance to win one of several door prizes. The Library’s main parking lot and surrounding BREC parking lots will be available for parking.
