The Proper Position. Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’. Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’. Vanity asks the question, ‘Is it popular?’. But, conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’. And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that it is right. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.~ Oftentimes, doing that which you know in your heart to be the proper course of action will go against what others may think, and even your own “natural” tendencies...and it may require that you risk standing against formidable opposition. While it may seem difficult in the moment, it IS the course of action that will lead you to ultimate peace and contentment. Take a long-term viewpoint, NOT one that seeks to do what appears easiest in the moment. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. ~Proverbs 14:12~ And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land of which the LORD swore to your fathers... ~Deuteronomy 6:18 (NKJV)~ {So] they summoned them and imperatively instructed them not to converse in any way or teach at all in or about the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge), but we [ourselves] cannot help telling what we have seen and heard. ~Acts 4:18-20 (Amp)~ 2

Having recently lost my job due to a company restructuring effort, I found myself in a position of "abnormality" to say the least. It was not desireable, and it was a time where I found myself starting all over again in many ways. The "how to and what next" questions can be daunting. Reaching out or networking is truly the answer, but how, and where does one start? In my case, I reached out to Pastor Brad, who led me to Jennifer Lyon, and the Employment Ministry Team. It's not that someone else will necessarily find you a job, but more importantly, it's that someone else will take the time to get you going, answer questions and and care enough to do so. My path also led to an Employment Transition Ministry in Tulsa, where on a weekly basis I had a place to go, grow, and learn more about the skills and tools necessary to finding a new position. My message for our congregation is that an "Employment Ministry Team" is invaluable to those who find themselves in similar positions as mine. In fact, we can all be members because every little expression of hope, or next lead, or a name of someone to call, is what keeps hope alive and the possibility that tommorrow will lead to an open door to the next potential job opportunity. Please support the Ministry Team efforts in this invaluable source of life support, and remember that any idea, thought, prayer or contact you can make to an employment seeker will mean more to them than you can ever imagine. May God Bless all of you and the Employment Ministry Team. Bill Sherwood
