Joel Eidsness

Pastor Joel and Sharon Eidsness are no strangers to Trinity Bible Church. In 1968, Joel, fresh out of seminary, was invited to pastor a new church plant in NW Phoenix – Trinity!. He was ordained here in July of 1968, served in the Senior Pastor role from 1968 – 1992, and saw the church grow from a small group of people who met at a local school to almost 1000 regular attendees.

Sharon’s fingerprints can also be seen here – much of our Women’s Ministry grew out of her vision and work. The Eidsness’ have two daughters - Kristen who, along with her husband Russ Eddleman and three children, live in Phoenix and Laura who, with husband Andrew Spiering and child, live in San Francisco. Joel enjoys golf, walking and is an avid reader. He shares, “When it comes to priorities, I value people over programs, and Scripture over tradition.” When asked, ‘What is your primary ambition in life?” he responds, “to make the invisible Christ visible.” After his time at Trinity, Joel pastored Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, Connecticut from 1992-2005. Since retirement, Joel has been an Interim Pastor in both Florida and Michigan. He also served as a preaching mentor at Gordon Conwell Seminary in Massachusetts in the fall of 2006, while maintaining a home in Sun City. Joel hired Mark Benadom as Pastor to Adults in 1989. Who knew Mark would become Trinity’s second senior pastor? With Mark’s call to Park Springs Bible Church in Arlington, Texas recently, the elders began to search for an appropriate Interim pastor for Trinity. What a delight that Joel has once again accepted an invitation to be Senior Pastor at Trinity, this time on an Interim basis. Joel looks forward to opening God’s Word to us and preparing us for new pastoral leadership. Welcome back Joel and Sharon! We’re glad you’re here – again!
