Have you ever heard of apps like Gowalla, Facebook Places or Foursquare? These apps are all “locationbased”, which enable you to “check in” at a location and earn achievements, discounts and points. Look out for stickers in shops and attractions so you can get the best deals. The foursquare application, in our opinion is the best; you can earn badges, points and become the “mayor” of places - another word for the most frequent visitor. The mayor is entitled to “specials”, which are offers and bonuses from the shop itself. You can check in at over 10 million places in the UK; including beaches, shops, restaurants and attractions. Right: a picture of one of the badges achieved on your mobile device virtually on Foursquare and the Gowalla and Foursquare logos.

Near field communication can quickly swap information between devices when they're touched together. You can exchange things like text, images, URLs or other data simply by holding your phone up to various "smart tags." While it hasn't enjoyed the same popularity state-
side, NFC tech is already big in Japan, where you can use your NFC -enabled phone to buy train tickets in Tokyo or as a contactless payment system at various retailers. NFC uses loosely coupled inductive circuits to exchange power and/or data over a short distance (usually

This month: MMORPGs Online games are enjoyed by a whole variety of games. Most online games with millions of players are called MMORPGs, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. These games are usually based in combat, adventure and action. Some online game MMORPGs for younger children invite users to come into an
online community. XBOX Live and PSN are forms of online game hosts. If you play World of Warcraft or Call of Duty online, you’re participating in a worldwide global game, even though you’re just one of the users. After PlayStation Network’s recent hacking outages, XBOX Live is technically the best online gaming service, with a
user base of millions. Online game MMORPGs are much more enjoyable as the user has access to a community of other gamers around the world.
