Associate Leadership Council (ALC)

Fellowship of Executive Leaders

Become the leader you were always meant to be through the Associate Leadership Council (ALC). Through a highly competitive application process, commercial real estate professionals between 27 and 37 years old come together over 10 months for leadership development programs, personalized assessments, coaching with a professional executive coaching firm and a community service project. The education, relationships and experience gained has a tremendous effect on participants’ careers for years to come.

APPLICATION-BASED PROGRAM

The Fellowship of Executive Leaders is a sixmonth program enabling management-level commercial real estate executives to sharpen their leadership skills and reach new levels of personal and professional development. Through a combination of candid roundtable discussions, guest speakers, group assignments and personalized executive coaching, class members focus on the major issues that executives face daily, including visionary thinking, leading in times of change, brand awareness and emotional intelligence. Guest speakers have included Beck CEO Fred Perpall, George W. Bush Presidential Center President and CEO Ken Hersh, and JLL Americas Executive Chairman.

Talent Capital Forum

Young Guns Breakfast Groups

Learn from your peers through the semiannual Talent Capital Forum, open to human resources professionals in the commercial real estate industry. These lunch-and-learn sessions feature speakers on topics of diversity recruitment, talent attraction retention and developing the next generation of HR leaders.

Get to know your fellow Young Guns over breakfast. Meet monthly from March through December with a small group to discuss business trends and local issues while building relationships across a variety of businesses within commercial real estate.

Leadership Alumni Stay connected with fellow ALC and Fellowship graduates and inspire newcomers in our Leadership Alumni program. Mentorship Program Learn from an experienced commercial real estate professional with our six-month, oneon-one Mentorship Program. Each mentor and mentee meet regularly to develop an action plan focused on achieving the mentee’s career goals. Mentee applicants must be 35 or younger to participate. Impact policy To achieve TREC’s vision of a world-class and livable North Texas region for all, TREC advocates for public policies that promote long-term economic growth and vitality across the region. We engage in policy issues that positively impact the commercial real estate industry and the public good to Build the City You’ve Imagined. TREC Political Action Committee (PAC) is crucial to helping us amplify our voices, support candidates and impact policy. Our Public Policy Committee addresses issues including transportation, affordable housing, economic mobility and development. Public Policy Committee members research and analyze policy recommendations and together with the PAC help set the course of action for TREC to lead. Political Action Committee (PAC)

Public Policy Committee (PPC)

Open to all TREC members. Membership in and contributions to the PAC ensure TREC’s interests are represented locally and in Austin. TREC PAC interviews candidates and directly funds candidate endorsements.

Leads TREC’s efforts to research, understand, and communicate current regulations, best practices, and policy strategies that contribute to the economic growth, quality of life, and success of the Dallas region.

Attend policy briefings with our region’s elected officials and provide feedback as an active member of the Public Policy Committee or PAC.

PAC Candidate Interviews

Join us for our new series of informal receptions with local elected officials and dealmakers. During these TREC membersonly events, invited guests will discuss their priorities and interact with TREC members.

Participate in interviews with candidates for public office and vote to support candidates who are aligned with TREC’s policy vision.

TREC Think Tank Our new TREC Think Tank takes a blank slate approach and discusses all parts of the Dallas and regional community, identifying cityplanning initiatives for 10, 25, and 50 years from now. Dallas Catalyst Project TREC Foundation has partnered with Cornerstone Baptist Church, St. Philip’s School & Community Center and CitySquare to achieve the Forest District community’s vision for revitalization. The inaugural Dallas Catalyst Project includes an initial three-year, $1 million TREC Foundation investment as well as professional services from our members and their companies. Together, we will ensure the Forest District reaches its full potential.

TREC Community Fund The Real Estate Council Community Fund is a 501 (c)3 organization and a certified Community Development Financial Institution by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Invested in Making an Impact We believe supporting communities and rebuilding local economies takes innovative solutions. The Real Estate Council Community Fund gives technical assistance to nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Dallas and Collin County access to capital for commercial real estate projects benefiting low and moderate-income families and their communities. With flexible loans and development services, we provide individuals and organizations with the tools they need to build the communities they envision.

Community Driven Growth: A Roadmap to Dallas’ Equitable Development Through a grant from JPMorgan Chase’s PRO Neighborhoods initiative, TREC Community Fund is working collaboratively to create a strategy for equitable development in three economically distressed neighborhoods by addressing inadequate and unaffordable housing to provide access to services. Whether you’re developing real estate as a nonprofit or managing the real estate that houses your organization, TREC training programs provide much needed information to guide successful organizations.


Real Estate 101

Real Estate 101 Bootcamps

This educational program provides an overview of real estate’s complexities to nonprofits. This program has served more than 200 nonprofit organizations over the last decade.

TREC Community Fund offers hard-skill bootcamps in partnership with TREC member volunteers to provide training on key aspects of the development process for community-based projects. Topics range from developing financial projections to proving market feasibility of neighborhoodbased projects that provide innovative solutions.

Faith-based Community Development Initiative TREC Community Fund works with faith-based organizations to grow their capacity to implement community and economic development projects in their neighborhoods. Community-Oriented Real Estate (CRE) Accelerator TREC Community Fund’s CRE Accelerator Program trains emerging developers to implement community-oriented real estate projects and provide access to debt/equity capital upon successful completion. The CRE Accelerator is a nine-month program offering structured support of project development through monthly feedback panels and speaker sessions with real estate experts. Through completion of the program, teams create a strong investment pitch deck for securing capital while gaining experience in the development process and building their professional network. Young Guns Foundation Project

Take your membership to the next level by joining one of our committees. We need members to help on a variety of committees covering public policy, leadership development, membership, programs, special events and good works with TREC Foundation and TREC Community Fund.

Help better our community by assisting on a real estate-related project with your fellow Young Guns. With funds raised from Casino Night, The Young Guns Foundation Project supports local nonprofits and makes a lasting impact. Previous projects include renovations to the Aberg Center for Literacy, improvements to Genesis Women’s Shelter facility and constructing a community garden for The Stewpot.

TREC Foundation Professional Services Lend your time and expertise to leverage TREC Foundation dollars for greater community impact. Your architectural, construction, design and project management skills are invaluable to TREC Foundation’s grantees and supported organizations. OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS

Grants Committee This committee reviews applications, evaluates grant performances and makes funding recommendations to the TREC Foundation Board of Directors. The committee also reviews the Research and Development Committee’s findings to determine grantees.

This committee reviews grant applications for measurability in TREC Foundation’s four key initiatives, develops plans to track quantifiable results and monitors the results throughout the year.

Support burgeoning developers in TREC Community Fund’s training programs by providing mentorship and one-on-one feedback of potential community-oriented real estate projects. Opportunities include: Real Estate 101 Bootcamp, a hands-on, four part-course introducing participants to the real estate development process and equipping them to bring projects to life; CRE Accelerator, a nine-month program to train emerging developers to implement community-oriented real estate projects and provide access to debt/equity capital upon successful completion.

Company Volunteer Opportunities TREC will organize company volunteer days in the Forest District. These volunteer opportunities could be half-day or full-day workdays for you and your teams to do good works for our Dallas Catalyst Project partners. Contact TREC if you would like to learn more.

TREC Community Fund Development Services Be part of the innovative solutions that build community by sharing your time and expertise with TREC Community Fund. Assess loan applications, review financial projections and conduct site visits to help provide access to capital through loans and technical assistance for organizations in low to moderate-income areas of Dallas and Collin County. Casino Night

Get ringside for a spectacular evening of professional boxing, casino gaming, exceptional cuisine, and the opportunity to be among the top decision makers in the industry and political community. Since 1989, FightNight has become one of North Texas’ largest philanthropic events, raising more than $26 million to support TREC Foundation’s good works. Annual attendance is approximately 1,400 guests.

Casino Night is our premier Young Guns event, bringing together more than 500 young professionals for a night of casinostyle gaming to raise funds for the Young Guns Foundation Project and TREC Foundation.
