CLASS ITERATION MODEL: 3/8” = 1’0”

A REAL PROJECT In the Spring semester of 2019, I decided to partake in Reynolds studio for a second time. What made this variation interesting is the project had now become a reality (largely due to the influence our first studio had in Spring of 2018). With this studio we decided to revisit the design as a class and build a 3/8” = 1’0” model which would display what we believed the design should look like. Having experience from the past studio, I took on the model along with my classmate Pooya Mohaghegh which we build using the schools multi-cam CNC. As a class we decided to continue with the idea that 1/4 of the building is demolished and recycled, and decided the basement would be a massive shop, the first floor admin & faculty offices, and the third floor would be one large studio space. At the end of the semester we did a one-week charette to design an addition the take the place of the demolished part that would act as either a library, auditorium, lecture hall. or crit spaces. I chose to make a piece that fulfilled all of them. The most challenging aspect of this studio was considering budget (since we knew the amount) and trying to make a compelling project that was both experimental and economical at the same time.
