Sunshine Coast Australian Bowls Directory 2013
Welcome to the Sunshine Coast
The naturally refreshing Sunshine Coast is one of Queensland’s most popular bowling destinations with clean wide open spaces, uncluttered towns and beaches, and abundant fresh air. The popular haven for lawn bowlers offers facilities and venues across the coast, and a range of social and competitive carnivals to appeal to beginners and competitive bowlers alike.
Whether its a trip to the Sunshine Coast with fellow members from your local club, a group of friends, a loved one, or your family; it’s not only a hub for bowls lovers but it also offers plenty to see and do as a destination. It is home to an endless number of exceptional attractions, activities and events. From the vibrant heart of Mooloolaba to the sophisticated lifestyle of Noosa - there’s a holiday on the Sunshine Coast for everyone. A safe and popular destination, thanks to its easy access, local airport and proximity to Brisbane. Aptly named, the Sunshine Coast has a year round climate that is the envy of many other regions. In fact, it’s arguable that the weather on the Sunshine Coast provides one of the most comfortable climates in the world, which makes it ideal for hitting the greens, the beach, a national park, or exploring markets. Take the time, to step off the green and start ticking off the ‘must-do’ list: join a cooking school, ride a horse on Noosa’s north shore, put the four-wheel-drive in gear and roll onto Rainbow Beach past towering sand dunes and coloured sands, join a Harley tour of the Blackall Range, or take in one of the many breath-taking panoramic views with a walk on the Hinterland or through a national park.
And if that is not enough, all lawn bowls lovers are spoilt for choice on the Sunshine Coast with plenty of clubs waiting to welcome visitors from out of town. One of the advantages of playing bowls on the Sunshine Coast is that you have the opportunity to join in and play in the standard bowls games and many of the local club carnivals. In June you are spoilt for choice with the Mooloolaba Bowls Bonanza, and in July join in the Club Maroochy Prelude and the Sunshine Coast Winter Carnival which is played at various Sunshine Coast clubs. Clubs not to be missed when visiting the Sunshine Coast are Mooloolaba, Club Maroochy and Nambour. Check the club phone book to see when you can get a game at these three great clubs or refer to the Queensland Calendar of Events for further details. From the moment you step on the manicured greens with the warm sunshine on your back you’ll begin to feel different. Naturally refreshed, revitalised and relaxed.
Take some time-out from the greens and discover … That one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Markets are a great way to immerse yourself in the local retail scene. Local markets offer trinkets, tasty food, handmade garments, artisan furniture, home wares and jewellery.
Explore on foot. Explore subtropical rainforests with a rejuvenating bush walk in the scenic Blackall Ranges.
Art Gallery Trails. Experience a world of original, inspiring and unique arts and crafts with galleries offering a selection of some of the finest contemporary and traditional artwork in Australia.
