Ski holidays to make you smile Welcome to Mark Warner winter holidays where we do everything we can to give you the perfect skiing break – relaxing and exhilarating in equal measure with all the little extras that make our holidays so special. Mark Warner pioneered the concept of Chalet hotels back in 1975 and today this combination still provides the special atmosphere that makes for a great skiing holiday. All the comfort and facilities of a hotel shared with like-minded guests; the personal touches like ski hosting,

2

the freshly baked afternoon cakes and the opportunity to recount tales of the day and relax in our cosy bars – all of which are essentials in our Chalet hotels. And as for those extra touches... well we’ve been working on the list for the 37 years we’ve been in the Alps! Families love our childcare services from crèches and kids clubs to useful evening childcare. If you’ve time to relax, we’ve in-house beauty salons. Reserved ski school places and lift pass collection are handy features, and the welcome drinks are always popular! See you there.

It’s no surprise that Mark Warner only offers ski holidays in the best locations. We’ve chosen resorts that are high and snow-sure, so that whenever you visit between December and April there’s skiing to enjoy. Our Chalet hotels have been selected for their ideal positions near the slopes, so that you can be first on the pistes and last home if you wish.

Right place, great time

Here’s some great news to get you on your way with your ski holiday! We’re delighted to announce that for the new ski season, British Airways will be operating flights to all of our French resorts from both Gatwick and Heathrow. And we’ve managed to secure excellent mid-morning departure times for you as well. For those of you travelling to St Anton or Courmayeur, we will be flying with British Airways from Gatwick into Friedrichshafen and Geneva.

Travel in style

6

You’ll still have the option of leaving from Manchester with Jet 2 or from Gatwick and Birmingham with Monarch Airlines, giving you a choice of transport options. If you prefer to start your journey in Scotland, just call us and we’ll be happy to arrange a flight for you. There’s more good news too. We’ve also been working hard to make your arrival at your destination as seamless as possible, so from now on, all of your flights to our French resorts will arrive at Grenoble airport giving you a shorter journey time to your resort.

Delicious and nutritious is the way we do it. Our talented chefs prepare a daily menu to give you the fuel for skiing and deliver a gastronomic delight for you to savour. Prepare for your day at the generous breakfast buffet that includes a cooked breakfast option. Top up at tea time with hot soup and tasty bread. There are also wonderful home-made cakes to devour, if you dare!

Mark Warner Chalet hotels are renowned for their fine food and the three course evening dinner with wine is no exception. You can ski hard to the end of the day in the knowledge that our chefs will be creating delightful dishes to make your meal a mouth-watering treat.

Our recipe for success

9

Nothing’s too much trouble We only choose the cream of the crop when recruiting our staff, ensuring our hand-picked team will make your holiday a top class experience. Your resort team will be working hard to make sure you have a great time – there when you need them and not far away when you don’t. Right from the outset, you’ll discover our UK-based reservations staff have a wealth of knowledge, knowing our resorts and Chalet hotels inside and out. They are happy to offer you advice, should you ask.

10

In resort, our nannies are all English speaking, qualified and are a key part of giving our family guests a fantastic holiday. Their almost boundless enthusiasm ensures our youngest guests get the best time of all. It’s a team effort. Hotel managers, the customer services team, chefs, nannies, waiters, cleaning staff, ski hosts and bar staff are all chosen for their selfmotivation, helpfulness and sense of fun. We’re ready for anything!

11

12

Skiing holidays are all about the skiing! That’s why our ski hosts are available to take you out on the mountain for the day. They’ll do the hard work of planning your route – through the best snow and via the shortest lift queues. What’s more they’ll choose a handy lunch stop and point you in the right direction for a good après ski location.

Sign up the day before either as a skier or snowboarder and, whilst we don’t cater for beginners, skiers are split into groups from those who prefer a gentle pace through to accomplished faster skiers. You can join the group for a full day or half day, over five days of the week (two days in St Anton) and make the most of your ski host’s skiing expertise and exceptional local knowledge.

A host of possibilities

13

Contented children make for happy family holidays! At Mark Warner, we’ve over 35 years’ experience of keeping children happy and making it easy for the whole family to enjoy their holiday. During the day our childcare dovetails with ski school times, and in the evenings we run supervised crèches – so parents can ski all day and enjoy their evenings too. We’re confident it’s the best childcare in the business – qualified British nannies running a packed programme of entertainment throughout the day. There’s a high ratio of nannies to children and our crèches are always well-equipped.

14

Childcare for babies from 4 months old to 12 year old children is pre-bookable in the UK, and we’ve handy lists of what to pack and what we provide, as well as other useful information in our dedicated childcare brochure enclosed, or at www.markwarner.co.uk/brochures And, every little helps. FREE ski and boot hire for children in many resorts. See pages 74-75 for details.

It’s a family affair

15

16

Just because we’re good at family ski holidays, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a time and a place for adults to escape on a Mark Warner holiday too! So, we provide plenty of opportunities for adults to enjoy their skiing whilst having a thoroughly good time.

In the company of adults

You’re guaranteed an adult atmosphere at three of our Chalet hotels; the Rosanna, Cristallo and Moris, which, outside of the school holidays are designated adult only. If you are planning a ski holiday with friends, then look up our generous group discounts on selected dates on page 94.

17

Just because your friends are seasoned skiers or snowboarders, and you’re not, it’s no reason to stay at home and miss out on one of the best holidays ever. At all of our Chalet hotels we welcome beginners, and our staff are on hand to help you with everything from choosing the right ski pass to organising your ski hire.

Your skiing starts here!

With the help of our recommended ski schools, small class sizes and friendly English speaking instructors, it should only take you a day or so to master stopping (essential) and turning (very useful). You’ll soon be transformed from an ungainly duckling into a graceful swan and before you know it, ready to start skiing. And, ski school’s not just for adults children from four years of age can be enrolled. All our ski school places are pre-bookable and we would advise you do so, especially over the peak season. See pages 76/77 for more details.

Val d’Isère Don’t stop! Once the challenge of a day on Val d’Isère’s reliably snowy slopes is over, there’s a lively nightlife to enjoy in this popular French resort.

24

The Skiing

Après ski and nightlife

It’s easy to see why Val d’Isère remains one of the best loved French skiing destinations. It’s kept the charm and the feel of its rural village roots while growing into a modern resort with a lively atmosphere. Flaunt some fashion if you must, indulge in the crazy nightlife if you care to, but more importantly come for the skiing as there’s superb terrain and enough variety to suit everyone.

Back in the resort get your skates on at the outdoor ice rink or try the Oxygen leisure complex for energetic alternatives and a chance to relax in the wellness area with its fantastic new pool facilities. Val d’Isère comes alive at night and it’s easy to enjoy sophisticated restaurants, live music and dancing into the early hours if you are in the party mood. The Moris Pub, is a popular spot among the many other bars and clubs on offer.

The nursery slopes are in the middle of the resort and beginners can discover easy runs in breathtaking scenery above the tree line. Stronger skiers have the vast Espace Killy to explore, from the challenge of the Solaise bumps to the wide open pistes of the glacier at Fornet. Off-piste enthusiasts are spoiled for choice and it’s the perfect place to combine off-piste guiding and instruction.

Families Val d’Isère is a popular family resort that provides entertainment and skiing for every age group. A family lift pass can be excellent value and every 6 day Espace Killy pass gives one free entry to the Oxygen Centre which has a swimming pool with slides and fountains for children. Once a week the village centre comes alive with spectacular evening entertainment including local ice sculptors, music and fireworks.

Book the special ‘Learn to ski package’ and you’ll soon graduate to the multitude of blue runs, which give second week skiers the chance to spread their wings and discover the thrill of high mileage skiing. Experts set their sights on the Bellecôte glacier with its superb long black pistes and untracked powder slopes – a rare opportunity to ski descents of more than 2000 vertical metres.

Our own Scotty’s Bar with a large sun terrace at the foot of the slopes is a popular destination among the many bars and restaurants. For the more adventurous there’s always the chance to try your hand on the Olympic bobsleigh run or climb to the top of the 22 metre Ice Tower.

And there’s more! Take the spectacular double-decker Vanoise Express cable car to the Paradiski ski area of La Plagne and Les Arcs to open up over 425km of piste skiing.

Families La Plagne enjoys an excellent reputation as a family ski destination with lessons for children from as young as 3 years old. Our Chalet hotel Christina, situated in Plagne Centre (1970m) is at the heart of the resort and occupies an ideal slope-side spot for a family or mixed ability group holiday. Events and activities range from the safe floodlit run for children’s tobogganing to the excitement of husky sledding.

Courchevel 1850 A cut above the rest! There’s no mistaking the most stylish place to ski in France, Courchevel 1850. Almost inexhaustible skiing and a glittering nightlife.

46

The Skiing

Après ski and nightlife

Whether you dress to impress or not, skiers of all standards can turn on the style as there’s more than enough skiing to suit everyone. Courchevel offers access to an almost overwhelming 600km of perfect pistes shared with the Méribel and Val Thorens valleys and our Chalet hotel Dahu puts you in the perfect place to make the most of the action. After skiing out on the easy, perfectly groomed pistes that run through the centre of the resort, leisurely skiers can drop in on 1650 for a relaxing lunch in the sun. Stronger and more adventurous skiers may head for the infamous couloirs at the top of the Saulire cable car or the powder fields of Mont Vallon. The forest above La Tania and Le Praz is just the spot for sheltered skiing in bad weather. Many will want to try the end to end tour to the Maurienne valley (beyond Val Thorens) and back, which, thanks to the lift system, is comfortably possible in a day.

1850 is renowned for its nightlife and attraction to the stars but there are bars, restaurants and nightclubs to suit every pocket. Some are predictably expensive and others surprisingly good value, but all create an atmosphere to remember.

Families Courchevel prides itself on being a family friendly resort, so in addition to slopes to suit the whole family, there’s a host of activities to make a holiday together great fun. Le Forum is opposite the Chalet hotel Dahu and houses many attractions including an indoor climbing wall, Olympic sized ice rink and a bowling alley.

Méribel Spread your wings and explore the Three Valleys from either of our two resorts. Excellent skiing for all levels and famous après ski in Méribel, or Mottaret for a quieter life.

50

The Skiing

Après ski and nightlife

Discover, explore, have fun! Both Méribel and Mottaret, where our two timber-clad properties nestle, are ideal bases for skiers who enjoy plenty of variety. Intermediates especially will thrive on the 600km of well-kept pistes; you can ski all week and still leave plenty of runs untouched. In the two villages and higher up, beginners can cut their teeth on a wealth of uncrowded nursery slopes. Experts can tackle the infamous Courchevel couloirs and the Chanrossa bumps. If the weather closes in, forest runs down the valley are the answer, while in sunny conditions Val Thorens, Europe’s highest resort, is the place to head for.

Méribel is one of the more lively alpine resorts for après ski and has a good reputation for outstanding nights to match the excellent skiing. Whatever you fancy there are bars and restaurants to suit every taste. Mottaret is a little more reserved but it has a good choice of bars and restaurants including Le Rastro which always has a good buzz. If you fancy an evening in Méribel, it’s easily reached by the free resort bus service.

Families With plenty of skiing to suit all levels and a wide choice of other activities, it’s not hard to see why Méribel is a family favourite. You won’t win a medal at the Olympic Centre but there’s an indoor swimming pool, climbing wall, ice-skating rink, ten-pin bowling, Turkish baths and more. Take off from the altiport for a spectacular scenic flight in the mountains.

Courmayeur A very Italian job! Long lunches, a stylish setting and stunning scenery combine well with great snow and varied terrain to make Courmayeur a memorable skiing experience.

56

The Skiing

Après ski and nightlife

Spectacular views of the Mont Blanc massif and the wonderful atmosphere of the car-free, cobbled village make Courmayeur a magnificent place to ski. The resort has an excellent snow record, aided by a very impressive snow-making system. The ski area has a variety of easy and intermediate runs liberally sprinkled with inviting huts, each with its own panoramic sundeck and spectacular view. Our ski shop is conveniently located at the base of the cable car where skis and boots can be left overnight. The nursery slopes are just at the top of the cable car for beginners to enjoy.

Relax, in Courmayeur, skiing is only half the story. Delicious lunches are to be enjoyed and savoured (though some may prefer the empty slopes!) and early evenings are spent strolling around the stylish streets eyeing chic shops and simply people-watching.

For stronger skiers Courmayeur offers excellent opportunities, with famous off-piste runs such as the Vallée Blanche into Chamonix and the Toula Glacier in the shadow of Mont Blanc. It’s a great resort to hitch up with a guide and try some of the best value heli-skiing in Europe.

Our Courmayeur Chalet hotel is an adult only affair outside of school holidays when children over 7 years are welcome but no childcare is offered.

Families When the family comes off the slopes the multi-sport centre, the Palasport, has ten-pin bowling, a climbing wall and other activities on offer. For the more adventurous try a spectacular hot air balloon trip.

St Anton Looking good! Traditional charm, a splendid location and serious nightlife are the backdrop for big skiing, freeriding and the chance of some world class off-piste action.

60

The Skiing

Après ski and nightlife

The village centre is as eye-catching as the skiing. A wonderful mix of old and new architecture and car-free too, St Anton is well known as a resort for experienced skiers and snowboarders.

By day St Anton is a quaint and peaceful town but when evening comes the legendary après-ski scene takes over. There’s a great atmosphere in the bars at the foot of the slopes and later you can join the partying in the pubs and clubs, many with live music and visiting DJs, including the renowned Moosewirt bar and our very own Scotty’s bar.

If you are a beginner, fear not. There are handy nursery slopes on the edge of the village and 34 easier runs to conquer. Intermediates will find plenty of friendly runs across Gampen, Rendl and St Christoph. For a change of scenery and perfectly groomed pistes, head over to Lech and Zürs that are easily reached by bus. For the adventurous, the high speed Telebenne and Galzig lifts take you from the resort centre to the magnificent unpisted bowls and gullies. Try the long blast down to Stuben where the chairlifts serve a vast area of uncrowded north facing powder fields. If your visit coincides with a good fall of fresh snow, you will have well and truly hit the jackpot!

Families There’s plenty to occupy the family beyond the many skiing possibilities. In addition to the perennial resort favourites of ice skating, tobogganing, there’s a wonderful ‘wellness centre’ with indoor and outdoor heated pools, children’s pool, sauna, whirlpool and massage. And of course you can always take a sleigh ride together.

Please bring a small rucksack (labelled with your child’s name) for your child’s belongings during the day.

Children’s beds Children 2 years of age and over will be allocated a bed. If you wish to have a bed ‘side’ (a barrier to prevent children falling out of bed), please contact our After Sales department on 0844 884 3806.

Evening Crèche The ‘drop-in’ crèche service operates from 7.30pm until 11.00pm and allows you to drop off children aged 4 months to 12 years old at our supervised crèche where they will be entertained with films, games etc or they can sleep in a designated quiet area. Parents must remain within the Chalet hotel when using the evening crèche facility. On the ‘dining out’ night we also run the ‘drop in’ service in the crèche. Our childcare team will supervise your children whilst you  dine out at a local restaurant and you can pick them up on your return. Parents are invited to bring their children to the crèche from 7.30pm and can collect them as late as 11.00pm. We ask

that you leave a mobile contact number and the name and number of the restaurant at which you will be dining.

Babysitting Individual babysitting can be arranged at your Chalet hotel at an additional cost and has to be booked in resort. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate requests, this service is subject to limited staff availability and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

A child needs to be clear of illness for at least 24 hours before being re-admitted to any childcare club. Re-admission is always at the discretion of the Head of Childcare.

If your child has any special dietary requirements (we provide vegetarian options among our choices) or allergies, please inform the Head of Childcare on arrival or when booking your holiday. Breakfast: Children to be supervised by parents.

* * * * * * * * *

Lunch: Children booked into children’s clubs and lunching at the Chalet hotel are supervised by the childcare team.

cots for under 2 years * Travel Highchairs * Potties * Baby baths * Bed sides * Bottle sterilising facilities * Full-fat milk (UHT) * Jars of Purées *

At all mealtimes we ask that you supervise your children, unless they are booked into our children’s clubs where a member of the childcare team will supervise them. Children who have Kidz Club dinner or high tea are not expected to attend dinner later, as this is an essentially grown-up occasion.

What we provide

Please note: If your child is used to a particular brand of formula milk, we suggest you bring your own as it may not be available locally.

High Tea: At 5pm a supervised high tea is served to the younger children. Early Dinner: During school holidays, an early dinner is served at 7pm.

Essential ski information Ski, snowboard and boot hire We have carefully selected ski and snowboard hire shops that provide quality equipment, good customer service and value for money. We offer the option of pre-paying for hired skis, snowboards and boots at the time of booking your holiday. To help you make your selection we have outlined the different categories of equipment available. Please note, some of the categories are not available in all resorts – see pages 74-75 for information and special offers on ski & snowboard hire on selected dates throughout the season.

Skis Standard skis: Suitable for beginner skiers who are learning to stem and make early parallel turns. The skis in this category are basic models (usually parabolic) that are easier to learn on. Sport skis: The most popular skis. An intermediate parabolic model suitable for skiers who can accomplish good parallel turns. Suitable for intermediate and leisurely skiers. Superior skis: Suitable for good parallel to expert skiers. This category includes this year’s advanced models.

Boots

Insurance

Standard/Sport boots: Mid-entry or clip boot, suitable for beginners and intermediates.

Prices for ski and boot hire do not include insurance cover for theft, loss or damage beyond repair. However, most Winter Sports insurance policies include insurance for hired equipment. If in doubt, please check your individual policy or to take out a policy, please contact Citybond Suretravel: www.suretravel.co.uk and enter referral code MAW 08 or call 0800 093 4647 and quote the referral code.

Superior boots: Primarily this year’s models with clips for more advanced skiers. Boots are available up to UK size 12. Boots larger than this cannot be guaranteed and should be hired in the UK prior to departure, or by contacting the ski hire shop directly. For specific or technical equipment requests we would advise you to pre-book direct with the resort and our staff will be pleased to supply the telephone numbers for you.

Children’s skis and boots We offer a ‘kids package’ of standard skis, boots and helmet for children aged from 3-12 years (up to 14 years in St Anton). Should you wish a more advanced level of equipment it is advisable that you contact the ski hire shop directly.

Snowboards All our snowboard hire shops stock a range of boards & boots suitable for beginners to advanced freestylers. Each shop operates its own categories but as a general rule Standard boards/boots are suitable for beginners, Sport board/boots for early intermediates and Superior boards/boots suit more advanced riders.

Cancellation Please note that if you wish to cancel your pre-paid equipment hire, you must do so 14 days before the departure date in order to claim a refund of monies paid. Equipment cancelled within 14 days is subject to a 100% charge. We regret refunds cannot be made for equipment not used or partially used.

Lift passes Lift passes can be pre-booked in the UK prior to departure and will be ready for collection on your arrival in resort. Please see pages 78-82 for lift pass special offers, which must be pre-booked at least 2 weeks prior to departure.

Ski & Snowboard instruction We offer pre-booking of group lessons for all levels of skier for both adults and children with our Mark Warner recommended ski schools. For complete beginners, a ‘Learn-to-Ski’ week package for adults is available in La Plagne. All the ski schools we recommend also offer private lessons, snowboard lessons and a variety of other courses. We strongly advise you to book all lessons in advance to avoid disappointment. Please note that ski school days and times are subject to change. Please ask our Reservations department for details at the time of booking.

Booking and payment Booking and payment for all pre-booked ski school lessons/ ski hire/lift passes must be made in the UK before your departure and as places are limited, we recommend that you book early, especially during the school holidays. For further information, please contact our Reservations staff on 0844 273 6777.

From the moment you arrive at the airport, our hosts are on hand to help. They will accompany you on the transfer from the airport to resort, answering any questions you might have. Thereafter, they’ll guide you around the slopes finding the best snow conditions, the shortest lift queues and the best lunch stops – with a table reserved in advance.

Our hosts are advanced skiers and know the resorts intimately, but they are not instructors or accredited mountain guides. If you are a beginner or you would like to explore off-piste, we can help to arrange lessons and off-piste guiding. We recommend that you book ski school before you travel, especially during busy school holiday periods (see pages 76-77).

Children aged 12 – 16 years are welcome to join as long as they are accompanied by an adult, while under 12s can join if all members of the group are from the same party. You can ski or board with a group for a half or a full day, or switch groups whenever you wish. It’s up to you.

In our French and Italian resorts we offer hosting 4½ days per week. In St Anton we offer two days hosting per week – 1 day in local area and 1 day in Lech and Zurs (small transport cost applicable).

Ski hosting

Please note that we cannot guarantee our ski hosting service due to the interpretation of the service by the authorities in the countries in which we operate. Enforcement of unclear legislation may lead us to suspend the service at short notice.

71

Off-piste guiding In Val d’Isère, St Anton and Courmayeur we have teamed up with some fantastic guides who have a wealth of experience in finding the best snow conditions and skiing them safely. Guides can be booked for half or full day.

Val d’Isère

St Anton

with Piste to Powder

with Gianni Carbone

The back country of the Haute Tarentaise region is astounding in both size and spectacle, offering some of the best off-piste skiing in the world. Truly vast, it stretches from the Vallon de la Sache and Les Brevières at the far end of Tignes to the Col Pers and beyond on the Fornet fringe of Val d’Isère with routes off the Col du Palet towards Champagny and Les Arcs, and onward to Ste Foy. The combined possibilities are endless. Explore this magnificent terrain with Alpine Experience whose qualified and experienced guides have an in-depth knowledge of the region.

St Anton offers challenging and extensive off-piste skiing for strong intermediates and upwards. Graham Austick and his Piste to Powder Mountain Guiding team, all qualified IFMGA guides, will help you explore the spectacular Arlberg region. They’ll take you away from the crowds and find the best snow and terrain for your level of ability. The company also specialises in ski touring, snowshoeing and ice/rock climbing. Graham and his team will visit Chalet hotels Schweizerhof and Rosanna at the start of your trip to explain the company’s service in more detail.

Intermediate skiers and above can enjoy a variety of off-piste terrain, including the famous Vallée Blanche from Courmayeur into the Chamonix valley. The route starts at Punta Helbronner, followed by a scenic and leisurely 4-5 hour descent before the bus ride back to Italy. Alternatively, explore the wide slopes, high fir woods and powdery snow of Val Veny or discover the Toula Glacier. Gianni Carbone, a qualified mountain guide with many years’ experience in Courmayeur, also offers ski mountaineering, ice climbing and heli-skiing. Gianni will visit Chalet hotel Cristallo at the start of your holiday to discuss his services.

Travel information Flight details As our travel arrangements are made many months in advance, the flight details shown are provisional flight arrangements and approximate flying and transfer times. All flight timings are provisional and may change up to the point of departure. Exact details of your flight numbers, carrier and timings will be confirmed when e-tickets are issued approximately 7 – 10 days before departure. We cannot accept bookings made conditional on flight timings or carriers and a change of flight timing does not entitle you to change or cancel your holiday. On busy dates it may be necessary to buy in extra seats which may be on different carriers, operating at different times and therefore supplements may be payable on these flights. As transfers for these extra seats will be operated in conjunction with our usual flights, there may be a short waiting time at the airport.

Scheduled and regional flights

Infants

In addition to our contracted flights as listed, we can request further seats, subject to availability, from many airports. Price supplements for these will be payable, please enquire at the time of booking and full details will be given to you. These flights may operate at different times to our charter schedules and separate transfers may then need to be arranged and paid for. Please note that if you miss your outbound scheduled flight, you must contact us or notify the airline directly to ensure your homeward flight is not affected.

Please note that those under 2 years of age on the date of return travel to the UK are not allocated a seat on the aircraft or transfer coach and will need to sit on a parent’s knee. Infants are not provided with a meal on the flight, however the cabin crew will be happy to heat up food you have brought with you. Scheduled airlines make charges for infants, we will advise you of the full infant cost at the time of booking.

Travel details and tickets/e-tickets E-tickets will be sent to you approximately 7 – 10 days before the start of your holiday. For e-ticketed flights we must have an up to date email address for your booking. Please carefully check your documents upon receipt as flight timings can change from those published in the brochure, on our website or detailed on your confirmation invoice. Bookings made within 10 days of departure will be subject to a minimum £15 per person late booking administraton fee.

Connecting flights

Insurance For holiday insurance please contact Citybond Suretravel: www.suretravel. co.uk and enter referral code MAW08 or call 0800 093 4647 and quote the referral code.

Please note that flight timings given at the time of booking are provisional only and bookings cannot be accepted conditional on timings. Guests with onward connections should allow plenty of time in the event of a schedule change or flight delay. We strongly recommend that tickets for onward connections are booked on a fully flexible basis to accommodate any unforeseen delays. continued overleaf...

Travel Information continued Check-in In an attempt to alleviate airport congestion, check-in desks are now opened at least two and half-hours before the scheduled departure time. As an increasing number of aircraft are missing their departure slots due to late reporting passengers, we would ask you to plan to arrive at the check-in desk with plenty of time and we recommend not less than two hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

Pregnancy

Ladies who are more than 33 weeks pregnant on their return date cannot travel on our charter flights. After the 28th week of pregnancy a medical certificate of ‘Fitness to Fly’ is required, which must confirm the expected date of birth. Please also check your insurance policy for restrictions on cover provided.

Airport representatives For our charter flights, our own Mark Warner representatives will be on hand at your departure airports to assist during check-in. Full details of our UK representatives can be found on our website. When you arrive at your destination airport, our overseas representatives will be waiting to welcome you after Customs and escort you to your transfer coach.

Baggage allowance and ski carriage At the time of going to print, baggage allowances were as follows:British Airways and Monarch Airlines 20kgs hold luggage which can be carried in more than 1 bag. Ski boots count towards your hold baggage allowance. Ski or snowboard carriage is an additional charge and must be prebooked DIRECT with Mark Warner. Infants receive 20kgs hold luggage allowance with British Airways and 10kgs hold luggage allowance with Monarch Airlines. Jet 2 22kgs hold luggage which must be carried in 1 bag. Ski boots count towards your hold baggage allowance. Additional bags can be booked directly with Jet 2, however please note that Ski or snowboard carriage is an additional charge and must be pre-booked DIRECT with Mark Warner. Full details of your baggage allowance will be printed on your e-tickets. Even if you are combining your total luggage allowance for your group, there is a weight restriction of maximum 32kgs

84

per item of hold baggage, if you go over this limit, you may be required to split your bags at check-in. One piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 5kgs and which must fit in an overhead locker may also be taken. Note that most airlines do not allow ski boot bags to be carried as hand luggage. Ski/snowboard carriage is charged at £25 per set and must be pre-booked with us in advance as the amount of sets we can carry is restricted by the airline. If you do not pre-book, the charge at the airport will be £35 per set, subject to the airline agreeing to carry them, if you are refused carriage of your skis or snowboard, you are responsible for getting them to your resort and at your own cost. Skis should be packed in a ski bag and have the bindings and tips well protected. Skis or snowboards only should be packed in ski bags, no other items of clothing or boots as the airlines may ask you to remove them. To book the carriage of skis or snowboards please ensure that you advise our Reservations staff at the time of booking or our After Sales Department on 0844 884 3806.

Catering Food and beverages on board the aircraft differ according to the flight/ airline you are booked with. British Airways flights are catered, our other flights operate a “buy on board” service with a choice of hot and cold beverages, snacks and light meals for you to purchase. Please check with us at the time of booking.

Travel delays In the event of a delay departing from your UK airport we do not provide refreshments, meals or accommodation. However, in certain circumstances the airline may provide assistance and our airport representatives will be able to advise. For delays on the return journey we endeavour to provide assistance on the following basis: for a delay of more than 3 hours, refreshments will be provided; for a delay of over 4 hours a meal will be provided and for overnight delays, hotel accommodation and meals as appropriate. The provision of these facilities cannot be guaranteed as circumstances often change and at all times our representative’s decision is final. Transfer coaches are occasionally meeting more than one flight and any delay in flights arriving can cause a delay in the coach departing from the airport. Delays of more than 12 hours

on either the outward or homeward journey are normally covered by insurance policies.

or other financial penalty being imposed on us, you will be responsible for reimbursing us accordingly.

Coach transfers

Please note lost, stolen or new passports will usually take a minimum of one week to replace. Full details are available by either telephoning their 24 hour advice line on 0300 222 0000 or visiting their website www.passport.gov.uk

Private coaches are used for transfers between the airport and resort. On occasions we may use other Tour Operators coaches but there will always be a Mark Warner representative at the airport to assist. Approximate transfer times are shown on page 83 but these can vary according to traffic or weather conditions. On some transfers a short stop is planned for refreshments.

Own transport For travellers making their own way to resort we offer a discount of £90 per person, excluding children travelling at the child share rate. However there will be a charge if you wish a coach transfer. This discount is only applicable to holidays sold at full brochure price and will only be given if we are advised at the time of booking that you do not require our flight or transfers and cannot be added at a later date.

Passport & visa requirements For holders of full British or EU passports no visas are required for visiting any of the European countries featured in this brochure. Citizens of other countries should consult their Embassies for any applicable passport and visa requirements. For British Citizens, adults require a full ten year passport for all the countries we operate to and children a five year passport. Any children included on their parent’s passport before 5th October 1998 will be accepted for travel, however please ensure that any children 16 years and over on the date of return travel to the UK hold their own passport. Please also check the validity of your passport, as most countries require passports to be valid for a certain length of time usually up to 6 months, upon your return to the UK. If you are unsure, please contact the appropriate Consulate of the country you are travelling to. It is the party leader’s responsibility to ensure that all members of the party are in possession of all travel and other documents necessary for your holiday. We cannot be held responsible if guests are prevented from travelling or re-entering the UK due to the lack of valid passports or visas. If failure to have any necessary travel or other documents results to fines, surcharges

There may be information from the Foreign Office regarding the country you are visiting. This can be obtained by dialling 0845 850 2829 or visiting their website at www.fco.gov.uk

Health Guests are advised to consult their own doctor before their departure to see if any inoculations are necessary. At the time of publishing this brochure, no vaccinations were required for visiting any of the countries featured in this brochure. For further information, you can obtain copies of the DSS leaflet T6 (Health Advice for Travellers) from any Post Office. For holidays within the European Economic Area you should obtain an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) prior to departure. The EHIC may entitle you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while you’re in a European Economic Area although restrictions apply. The EHIC card replaced the E111 form. It must be noted however that the EHIC is not a substitute for insurance and comprehensive insurance must be taken out before departure. If you are undergoing any form of medical treatment, we recommend that you consult your GP prior to departure and ensure that you take sufficient medicine and corresponding prescriptions with you where necessary. In some countries the services and drugs provided may be of a different standard to that received in the UK. Please remember to pack any vital medicines in your hand luggage. For further travel information details, please telephone our Flight Operations Department on 0844 884 3820.

How to book Booking direct You can make a booking either by calling us direct on the number above or online via our website at www.markwarner.co.uk (Please note, not all holidays we offer can be booked online – if unsure, please check with our office). At the time of booking, you will be required to give us credit/debit card details for the deposit(s) (or full balance if booking within 10 weeks of the start of your holiday). For all bookings we will then give you a reference number for you to quote on all correspondence/calls. Please note all transactions made via credit card incur a 2% handling fee (not applicable to debit cards). If the card issuer increases its charges to us, we reserve the right to increase this handling fee. Online bookings cannot be made less than 72 hours before departure.

Booking via your travel agent Call in and see your local authorised travel agent who will check availability and make the booking on your behalf. At the time of booking, you will be required to give your travel agent your credit/debit card details for the deposit(s) (or full balance if booking within 10 weeks of the start of your holiday). Alternatively you must agree that your travel agent will receive all appropriate payments within three working days of your booking having been made. They must then send us deposit(s)/full payment as applicable. Please note that bookings made direct with us may not subsequently be transferred to a travel agent.

Payment Deposit payments are £125 per person (excluding infants for whom no deposit is payable). We regret we cannot accept passengers under the age of 18 unless accompanied by an adult. Please note

that telephone conversations to our Reservations/After Sales departments may be monitored/recorded for training or customer services purposes. If you are booking within 10 weeks of the start date of your holiday you must pay or send the whole cost of the holiday immediately you book. Please note: We cannot accept personal cheques received less than 21 days before the start of your holiday. We will send you/your travel agent as applicable a confirmation invoice as soon as practically possible after receiving all appropriate payments.

Address for Payment Payments (other than those made by credit or debit card over the telephone/ online) must be sent to the following address:Mark Warner Ltd 61 Kensington Church Street London W8 4BA Please note: All bookings are subject to availability.

Your Contract Please also read carefully our booking conditions on pages 87 - 92 of our brochure and on our website at www.markwarner.co.uk By asking us to confirm your booking, you are liable to be regarded as having had the opportunity to do so. The booking conditions together with the information contained in this How To Book section and our Travel Information found on pages 83-84 of our brochure and on our website at www.markwarner.co.uk form the basis of our contract with you. A binding contract between us comes into existence when either 1) we or your travel agent have received all appropriate payments at the time of booking

or 2) for offline bookings made through a travel agent only, you have agreed that your travel agent will receive all appropriate payments within 3 working days of your booking having been made and 3) we have verbally confirmed the booking to you or your travel agent over the telephone or, in the case of online bookings, we have despatched our confirmation invoice to you. In the case of option 2 above if your travel agent does not receive all appropriate payments within 3 working days of your booking having been made at the latest, we will cancel your reservation without penalty to either us or you and we will have no further liability to you.

Prices and brochure accuracy Changes and errors Please note that holiday information and prices shown in our brochure and on our website may have changed by the time you come to book your holiday. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the brochure, website and prices at the time of publication, regrettably errors do occasionally occur. We reserve the right to make changes to and correct errors in advertised prices at any time before your holiday is confirmed. We will advise you of any error of which we are aware and of the then applicable price at the time of booking. Your chosen holiday/arrangements (including the price) will be confirmed on your invoice. Please note that bookings made prior to publication of the relevant brochure may be subject to significant changes upon confirmation of the programme and publication of the brochure. Please read clause 6 of our booking conditions for more details. During the season it may be necessary on certain dates to

purchase extra flights and/or coach capacity. This may result in an increase in costs as we cannot always negotiate the same favourable seasonal rates. We will, however, only pass on such increased costs to you where your booking has not been confirmed. All such extra costs will be advised to you at the time of booking. For price increases after booking, please see clause 3 of our booking conditions – Prices and surcharges.

Final payment Please send the final payment so that we receive it no later than 10 weeks before the start of your holiday. This date will be clearly indicated on your invoice and failure to pay by this date may mean that your holiday will be cancelled and cancellation charges will apply – see clause 1 of our booking conditions. Should you indicate at the time of booking, your balance will automatically be debited from your credit or debit card approximately 10 weeks before the start of your holiday using the details you gave at the time you booked your holiday (all credit card transactions incur a 2% handling fee). Please note, we do not provide receipts for payments unless this is requested at the time of booking.

Financial protection We hold an Air Travel Organisers Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL No 1176). All the flights and flightinclusive holidays* in this brochure or on our website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. When you pay, you will be supplied with an ATOL Certificate**. Please see our booking conditions for further information or for more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to http:// www.atol.org.uk/ATOL Certificate *The flights and flight- inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing they are made available in the UK. continued overleaf...

85

How to book continued **ATOL Certificates will be issued for all flight and flight inclusive holiday bookings made on or after 1st October 2012. Although ATOL Certificates will not be issued before 1st October 2012, all flight and flight inclusive holiday bookings made prior to this date will also be protected by the ATOL scheme as referred to in our booking conditions. For any holidays which do not include flights, all monies you pay us will be paid into a trust account which is controlled by an independent trustee. These monies will not be released to us until your holiday arrangements have been completed. These arrangements mean all monies you have paid us will be refunded to you in the unlikely event of our being unable to provide your holiday due to our insolvency.

Altered bookings All amendments to bookings must first be requested by telephone to the After Sales Department on 0844 884 3806 (and confirmed in writing if requested by them) or by email (if you have booked direct with us) to administration@ markwarner.co.uk or if you have booked through one of our authorised travel agents, through the agent. We will endeavour to assist if we can. Once we have issued the confirmation invoice, there will be a charge of £35 per person per occasion a change is made (if the change can be made) except as set out below. Amendment may result in the recalculation of the holiday price and the loss of previously applicable discounts or other special offers if the amendment means the conditions applicable to the previous calculation or a discount or other offer are no longer met (for example, because the number travelling has fallen below the minimum required) or the basis on which the price was calculated has changed (for example, because only one person is occupying a twin or double room). Changes made within 10 weeks of departure and any change of holiday dates will be treated as a cancellation of the original arrangements by you and cancellation charges will apply, please see clauses 4 and 5 in our booking conditions for further details (note that these cancellation charges apply to all pre-booked elements of your holiday). However, if the change is to increase the number of persons booked (without any other change), no amendment fee or cancellation charges will be payable (although you will of course have to pay any increase in the total holiday cost). Subject to meeting the conditions set out in clause 5 of our booking conditions, no amendment fee or cancellation charges will apply for a name change where the

86

holiday arrangements otherwise remain exactly as originally booked unless flight tickets have been issued. In this case, an amendment fee of £35 per name change will be payable if on charter flights. For scheduled flights, the airline may treat any change (including a name change) made after tickets have been issued as a cancellation of the original booking and impose 100% cancellation charges. Accordingly, you may have to pay the full cost of the flight(s) in question again as well as the amendment fee of £35 per person affected.

Travel details and tickets Your e-tickets will be sent to you approximately 2 weeks before the start of your holiday. Please carefully check your tickets immediately on receipt as flight timings can sometimes change from those published in our brochure and/or on our website or detailed on your confirmation invoice. However, if you are booking within 10 days of the start of your holiday or we have not received payment 10 days prior to the start of your holiday we will arrange for you to pick up your tickets from our representatives at the airport (if your holiday includes a flight or flights). In these instances a late booking fee applies of a minimum of £15 per person. We now issue e-tickets for all our flights. It is your responsibility to ensure we have up to date email addresses for your booking.

Data Protection

For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, we are a data controller. In order to process your booking, we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details will include, where applicable, the names and addresses of party members, credit/ debit card or other payment details and special requirements such as those relating to any disability or medical condition which may affect the chosen holiday arrangements and any dietary restrictions which may disclose your religious beliefs. If we need any other personal details, we will tell you before we obtain them from you. We need to pass on your personal details to the companies and organisations who need to know them so that your holiday or other services you have requested can be provided (for example your airline, hotel, other supplier, credit/debit card or insurance company or bank). We only provide third parties with the personal data they require in order to deliver their services or which we are legally obliged to provide. Other than in relation to government / public authorities (over whom we have no control), we will take

appropriate steps which are intended to ensure that anyone to whom we pass your personal data for any reason agrees to keep it secure and only uses it for the purposes of providing their services. If we cannot pass personal data to the relevant suppliers or any other third party as applicable, whether in the EEA or not, we will be unable to fulfil your booking. Your personal data may be stored, used and otherwise processed within the UK and/or any other country(ies) of the European Economic Area (EEA). EEA countries are all member states of the European Union together with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. We may also store, use or otherwise process personal data outside the EEA if your holiday is to take place or involves suppliers outside the EEA. Data protection laws may not be as strong outside the EEA as they are in the EEA. Personal data will not be transferred to a country outside the EEA unless (1) the country to which it is transferred is one which the European Commission considers to provide an adequate level of data protection or (2) the personal data is transferred to a United States company which has signed up to the Safe Harbour scheme or (3) the personal data is transferred to a company which is required by our contract with them only to deal with the data in accordance with our instructions and to maintain appropriate security to protect the personal data which we are satisfied they have or (4) we are obliged to provide the personal data to a government / public authority in order to provide your holiday. We would also like to store and use your personal details for future marketing purposes (for example, sending you a brochure or details of a promotion). All details you give us in connection with your booking (including those relating to any disability or medical condition or your religious beliefs) will be kept but we will use only names and contact details for marketing purposes. Occasionally, we may sell clients names and addresses to other companies or organisations who offer goods or services which we feel may interest you. If you do not want us to do any or all of these things, please let us know as soon as possible. We are entitled to assume you do not object to our doing any of the things mentioned in this statement unless you tell us otherwise in writing. Except where expressly permitted by the Data Protection Act, we will only deal with the personal details you give us as set out above unless you agree otherwise. We have appropriate security measures in place to protect this information.

You are generally entitled to ask us (by letter or e-mail) what details of yours are being held or processed, for what purpose and to whom they may be or have been disclosed. We will charge a fee to respond to such a request. We promise to respond to your request within 40 days of receiving your written request and fee. In certain limited circumstances we are entitled to refuse your request. Booking Conditions Applicable for winter ski departures from October 2012 to May 2013 Communications between us For bookings made directly with us online we will send our confirmation invoice and any applicable amendment or cancellation invoice to you by email. If you have booked directly with us by phone we will also send these documents by email if you have indicated at the time of booking that you would prefer us to do so otherwise we will send these documents by post. If you contact us by email (for example with a query relating to your booking), you authorise us to reply using the email address you have used to contact us. You must accordingly check your e-mails on a regular basis. Not all communications can go by e-mail – for example flight tickets may be sent to you by normal post. Please note that we may issue tickets for some of our flights as e-tickets for which we must have up to date email addresses for your booking. We may also contact you by post if we cannot, for whatever reason, contact you by e-mail or you have booked directly by phone and you have chosen not to be contacted in this way. References in these Booking Conditions to “send” include e-mail and post, as appropriate. If you wish to and you have booked direct with us you may contact us by email for any of the reasons mentioned in these Booking Conditions (for example to request an amendment or notify a cancellation) providing you do so to administration@ markwarner.co.uk. NB If you have booked through one of our authorised travel agents all correspondence with

us must be carried out via your travel agent. Please note that calls to our reservations department may be monitored/ recorded for training and customer services purposes. Except as set out in clause 14, these Booking Conditions only apply to holiday arrangements which you book with us in the UK and which we agree to make, provide or perform (as applicable) as part of our contract with you. All references in these Booking Conditions to “holiday”, “booking”, “contract” or “arrangements” mean such holiday arrangements except for the arrangements referred to in 14(b) where we act only as agent. References to “departure” mean the start date of the holiday arrangements we have contracted to provide. 1 Making a booking Your contract is with Mark Warner Limited (‘we’ and ‘us’). In all cases, these Booking Conditions together with our Travel Information and How to Book sections appearing on our website at www.markwarner.co.uk or on pages 83 - 86 of our brochure form the basis of your contract. References to ‘you’ and ‘the client’ means all persons named on a booking or any of them as applicable (including anyone who is added or substituted at a later date) or any of them as the context requires. Before making a booking with us, you must ensure you have read and understood these Booking Conditions (raising any queries you may have with us). By asking us to confirm your booking, you are liable to be regarded as having had the opportunity to do so and to have actually done so before

a contract between us comes into existence. When you make a booking, the first named person on the booking must pay us (if booking direct with us) or your travel agent (if you have booked through a travel agent) deposits or full payment as applicable (see “HOW TO BOOK” as above). Please note: if booking direct with us, deposit payments must be made by either credit or debit card at the time of booking. A. Bookings made by telephone or in person A binding contract between us comes into existence when: 1) we (if you book direct with us by telephone) or your travel agent (if you book through one of our authorised travel agents) have received all appropriate payments at the time of booking (if you pay by credit or debit card you must have authorised us or your travel agent to deduct the appropriate payments from your card) or 2) (for bookings made with travel agents only) you have agreed that your travel agent will receive all appropriate payments within 3 working days of your booking having been made and 3) we have verbally confirmed the booking to you or your travel agent over the telephone. In the case of option 2 above, if your travel agent does not receive all appropriate payments within 3 working days of your booking having been made at the latest, we will cancel your reservation without penalty to either us or you and we will have no further liability to you. A confirmation invoice will be

dispatched to your travel agent or to the first named person on the booking if you have booked direct with us once a binding contract between us has come into existence as set out above. B. Online bookings A binding contract between us comes into existence when we have received all appropriate payments from you at the time of booking and we have despatched our confirmation invoice to you. Please note; all bookings are subject to availability. Full payment less any deposit pre-paid must reach us not less than ten weeks prior to departure. The first named person on the booking is liable for making full payment for all persons named on the booking (including anyone added or substituted at a later stage). If payment is not received in full by the due date, we will issue a reminder to you (if you are booking direct with us) or your travel agent. If within 7 days of our issuing the reminder we have not received full payment, we are entitled to assume that you wish to cancel your booking and we will retain the deposit paid. If we do not cancel straight away because you have promised to make payment, you must pay the cancellation charges shown in clause 5 depending on the date we reasonably treat your booking as cancelled. Except for flight inclusive bookings, all monies you pay to one of our authorised travel agents for your holiday with us will be held by the agent on your behalf until a contract between us comes into existence. After that point, your agent will hold the monies on our behalf until they are paid to us. For flight inclusive bookings, all monies continued overleaf...

Booking conditions continued paid to any authorised travel agent of ours for your holiday with us will be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust subject to the travel agent’s obligation to pay such monies to us in accordance with our trading terms unless we fail. In the unlikely event of our financial failure, all monies then held by the travel agent or subsequently paid by you to the travel agent will be held by the agent on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation on the agent to pay such monies to us. Please note all transactions made via credit card incur a 2% handling fee (not applicable to debit cards). If the card issuer increases its charges to us, we reserve the right to increase this handling fee. Please carefully read your confirmation invoice, tickets and all other documents we send you as soon as you receive them. Contact us (if you have booked direct) or your travel agent immediately if any information appears to be incorrect as it may not be possible to make changes later. We regret we cannot accept any liability if we are not notified of any inaccuracy (by us) in any document within 14 days of our sending it out (5 days for tickets). We will do our best to rectify any inaccuracies notified outside these time limits. However, you will be responsible for any costs and expenses involved in doing so except where we made the mistake and there is a good reason why you didn’t contact us within the time limit. See clause 4 if you need to correct any inaccurate information you have provided us with. 2 Medical conditions and disabilities If you have any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday (including any which may affect the booking process), please tell us (if you are booking direct) or your travel agent before you confirm your booking so that we can advise as to the suitability of the chosen arrangements and, if applicable, assist you with making your booking. In any event, you must give us or your travel agent full details in writing at the time of booking. If you wish to book online you should email or telephone us with these details prior to making your booking online. You must also promptly notify us of any deterioration or adverse change in or development of any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday.

3 Prices and surcharges The holiday prices quoted in our brochure are based on exchange rates as taken from the Financial Times Guide to World Currencies Table published on 6th August 2012 and known costs on that date. The exchange rate is Euro 1. 25. We reserve the right to make changes to and/or correct errors in advertised prices at any time before your holiday is confirmed. We will advise you of any change or correction of which we are aware and of the then applicable price at the time of booking. Once the price of your chosen holiday has been confirmed at the time of booking, we will only increase or decrease it in the following circumstances. Price increases or decreases after booking will be passed on by way of a surcharge or refund. A surcharge or refund (as applicable) will be payable, subject to the conditions set out in this clause, in the event of changes in transportation costs (e.g. fuel, scheduled airfares and any other airline surcharges which are part of the contract between airlines (and their agents) and the tour operator) and/ or in any dues, taxes or fees payable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports or airports and/or where our costs increase or decrease as a result of any changes in the exchange rates which have been used to calculate the cost of your holiday. Even in the above cases, only if the increase in our costs exceeds 2% of the total cost of your holiday (excluding any amendment charges) will we levy a surcharge. If any surcharge is greater than 10% of the cost of your holiday (excluding any amendment charges), you will be entitled to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of all monies paid to us (except for any amendment charges) or alternatively purchase another holiday from us of a similar standard as originally booked if available (if the alternative is less expensive, you will receive a refund but if it is more expensive, you will not be asked to pay any more). A refund will only be payable if the decrease in our costs exceeds 2% as set out above. Where a refund is due, we will pay you the full amount of the decrease in our costs. Please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other

protection in place. You have 14 days from the issue date printed on the surcharge invoice to tell us in writing if you want to cancel or purchase another holiday where applicable. If you do not tell us that you wish to do so within this period of time, we are entitled to assume that you will pay the surcharge. Any surcharge must be paid with the balance of the cost of the holiday or within 14 days of the issue date printed on the surcharge invoice, whichever is the later. We promise not to levy a surcharge within 30 days of departure. No refund will be made during this period either. Please note, changes and errors occasionally occur. You must check the price of your chosen holiday at the time of booking. 4 Amendments by the client All amendments to bookings must be requested by telephone to the After Sales Department on 0844 884 3806 (and confirmed in writing if requested by the After Sales Department) or by e-mail to administration@ markwarner.co.uk. or if you have booked through one of our authorised travel agents, through the agent. If we are able to accept the change we will charge an amendment fee of £35 per person per occasion a change is made. Changes made within 10 weeks of departure and any change of holiday dates will be treated as a cancellation of the original arrangements by you and cancellation charges will apply as shown in clause 5. However, if the change is to increase the number of persons booked (without any other change) no amendment fee or cancellation charges will apply (although you will of course have to pay any increase in the total holiday cost). Subject to your meeting the conditions set out in clause 5 no amendment fee or cancellation charges will apply for a name change where the holiday arrangements otherwise

remain exactly as originally booked unless flight tickets have been issued. In this case, a £35 per person amendment fee is payable. In addition, scheduled airlines may treat any change (including a name change) made to a scheduled flight after tickets have been issued as a cancellation of the original booking and impose 100% cancellation charges. In order to make such a change in this situation, the full cost of the flight(s) affected must be paid again, in addition to the amendment fee of £35 per person. Please also see clause 5 below. Any amendment to Canadian ski holidays may incur additional costs – check with our After Sales department. 5 Cancellation by the client Cancellation shall take effect only when written notification from the first named person on the booking is received by us or your travel agent. In all cases of cancellation the deposit and any amendment charges will be forfeited. If the booking is cancelled 10 weeks or less before departure the following cancellation fees, expressed as a percentage of the total holiday cost excluding any amendment charges, will become immediately payable to us. Period before departure when we receive your written cancellation More than 70 days 43 to 70 days 29 to 42 days 15 to 28 days 14 days or less

Cancellation charge per person cancelling deposit only 30% 50% 70% 100%

Cancellation charges for holidays which include scheduled flights and/or prebookable extras may incur additional cancellation costs. Check with our After Sales department. Details are available on request at the time of booking. Written confirmation from us of cancellation by you will be issued within 14 days of our receiving your written notification of your wish to cancel. Contact us or your travel agent immediately if you do not receive this. If you are unable to go for any reason or decide that you do not want to take the holiday, you may transfer the whole booking or the place on the booking of the person(s) concerned to someone else/other people suggested by you and acceptable to us providing you meet the following requirements:(a) You must provide us with full details

of who cannot or does not want to go on holiday and who you would like to go instead. We must receive this information from you or your travel agent as applicable at least 14 days before the start of the holiday. (b) Please see clause 4 for details of any amendment fees and other charges/ costs which may be payable. Any part of the booking not transferred and/or subsequently cancelled will be subject to cancellation charges as detailed above. (c) Everyone who goes on holiday in place of anyone who was originally due to travel must agree to these Booking Conditions and any other requirements which apply to the holiday before the change can be finalised. If the full price should have been paid when the change is requested but hasn’t been, this must also be paid before the change can be finalised. 6 Alteration/Cancellation by Mark Warner Arrangements for the holidays featured on our website and in our brochure are made many months in advance. All details of our programme cannot be fully confirmed before publication of the relevant brochure. Occasionally, we have to make changes to and correct errors in website and/or brochure and other details before and after bookings have been confirmed or cancel confirmed bookings. Whilst we always endeavour to avoid changes and cancellations, we must reserve the right to do so. The possibility of such changes (which may be significant) is greater for those bookings made prior to publication of the brochure. However, in no case will we cancel your confirmed holiday less than ten weeks before departure except where we are forced to do so as a result of ‘force majeure’ (as defined in clause 8) or failure on your part to comply

with any requirement of these Booking Conditions entitling us to cancel (such as paying on time). Most changes are minor. Occasionally, we have to make a significant change. A significant change is a change made before departure which, taking account of the information you give us at the time of booking and which we can reasonably be expected to know as a tour operator, we can reasonably expect will have a major effect on your holiday. A minor change is any other change. The following changes when made before departure are examples of significant changes: • a change of your UK departure airport to one which, in our reasonable opinion, is more inconvenient for you. A change from one London airport to another will not be a significant change (London airports are Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted)), • a change of scheduled UK departure time by 12 hours or more (not including flight delays), • a change of accommodation for the whole or a substantial proportion of your holiday. Please note, a change in flight time of less than 12 hours carrier, type of aircraft (if advised), destination airport (see also clause 9 below) or resort transfer arrangements will not constitute a significant change but will be treated as a minor change except where otherwise stated in these conditions. If we have to make a significant change or cancel before departure, we will advise you or your travel agent as soon as we reasonably can and give you the choice of the following options if there is time to do so before departure: (a) (for significant changes) accepting the changed arrangements or (b) purchasing an

alternative holiday from us, of a similar standard as originally booked if available (if the alternative offered is less expensive, you will receive a refund but if it is more expensive, you will not usually be asked to pay any more) or (c) cancelling or accepting the cancellation in which case you will receive a prompt and full refund of all monies paid to us. If we have to make a significant change or cancel, we will, where compensation is appropriate, pay you the compensation amounts set out in the table below as a minimum. Payment of any compensation in the event of a significant change or cancellation is subject to the following general exceptions. Compensation is not payable in relation to any Advance Registration bookings taken prior to the publication of this brochure which are changed or cancelled when the programme is confirmed on brochure publication or where we notify you of a change or cancellation more than 100 days prior to your scheduled departure. Compensation will not be payable and no liability beyond offering the above mentioned choices can be accepted where we are forced to make a change or cancel as a result of unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which we could not have avoided even with all due care. No compensation will be payable and the above mentioned options will not be available if we cancel as a result of your failure to comply with any requirement of these Booking Conditions entitling us to cancel (such as paying on time) or if the change made is a minor one. No compensation is payable for children aged 2 or under.

Period before departure when we notify you or your travel agent 70 – 100 days 28 – 70 days 14 – 27 days 14 days or less

Minimum compensation per person £20 £30 £40 £50

Very rarely, we may be forced to change or terminate your holiday after departure but before the scheduled end of your time away as a result of ‘force majeure’ (see clause 8). In this very unusual situation, we regret we cannot make any refunds (except where these are obtained from suppliers) or pay any compensation or be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by you as a result. If, after departure, we are unable to provide a significant proportion of the services we had agreed to provide as part of our contract with you, we will do our very best to make suitable alternative arrangements. If we cannot do so or you refuse to accept these for good reasons, we will arrange to fly you back to your UK departure airport (if your holiday includes flights) or to transport you to the point our contracted services commenced (if elsewhere than your hotel) as soon as we reasonably can. Except as set out above, you will in addition be entitled to compensation where appropriate. 7 Denied Boarding Regulations If your flight is cancelled or delayed, your flight ticket is downgraded or boarding is denied by your airline, depending on the circumstances, the airline may be required to pay you compensation, refund the cost of your flight and/or provide you with accommodation and/or refreshments under EC Regulation No 261/2004 - the Denied Boarding Regulations 2004. Where applicable, you must pursue continued overleaf... 89

Booking conditions continued the airline for the compensation or other payment due to you. All sums you receive or are entitled to receive from the airline concerned by virtue of these Regulations represent the full amount of your entitlement to compensation or any other payment arising from such cancellation, delay, downgrading or denied boarding. This includes any disappointment, distress, inconvenience or effect on any other arrangements. The fact a delay may entitle you to cancel your flight does not automatically entitle you to cancel any other arrangements even where those arrangements have been made in conjunction with your flight. We have no liability to make any payment to you in relation to the Denied Boarding Regulations or in respect of any flight cancellation or delay, downgrading of any flight ticket or denial of any boarding as the full amount of your entitlement to any compensation or other payment (as dealt with above) is covered by the airline’s obligations under the Denied Boarding Regulations. If, for any reason, we make any payment to you or a third party which the airline is responsible for in accordance with the Denied Boarding Regulations, you must, when requested, assign to us the rights you have or had to claim the payment in question from the airline. If your airline does not comply with these rules you may complain to the Civil Aviation Authority on 020 7453 6888 or by e-mail to passengercomplaints@caa.co.uk or see www.caa.co.uk – Referring Your Complaint to the CAA. 8 Important Note – Force Majeure Except where otherwise expressly stated in these Booking Conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our obligations under our contract with you is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature (as more fully described in clause 11(2) below) as a result of ‘force majeure’. In these Booking Conditions ‘force majeure’ means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events are likely to include (whether actual or threatened) war, civil strife, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, epidemics, volcanic

90

eruption, airport, port or airspace closures, restrictions or congestion, flight restrictions imposed by any regulatory authority or other third party, technical problems with transport, adverse weather conditions and all similar events outside our control. 9 Travel In accordance with EU Directive (EC) No 2111/2005, we are required to bring to your attention the existence of a “Community list” which contains details of air carriers that are subject to an operating ban with the EU Community. The Community list is available for inspection at http://europa.eu.int/ comm/transport/air/safety/flywell_ en.htm. We are also required to advise you of the actual carrier(s) (or, if the actual carrier(s) is not known, the likely carrier(s)) that will operate your flight(s) at the time of booking. Where we are only able to inform you of the likely carrier(s) at the time of booking, we shall inform you of the identity of the actual carrier(s) as soon as we become aware of this. Any change to the operating carrier(s) after your booking has been confirmed will be notified to you as soon as possible. If the carrier with whom you have a confirmed reservation becomes subject to an operating ban as above as a result of which we/ the carrier are unable to offer you a suitable alternative, the provisions of clause 6 (Alteration/ Cancellation by Mark Warner) will apply. We are not always in a position at the time of booking to confirm the flight timings which will be used in connection with your flight. The flight timings shown in our brochure, on our website and/or detailed on your confirmation invoice are for guidance only and are subject to alteration and confirmation. Flight timings are particularly outside our control. They are set by airlines and are subject various factors including air traffic control restrictions, weather conditions, potential technical problems and the ability of passengers to check in on time. Specific instructions relating to departure and travel arrangements will be sent with your air or other travel tickets approximately 2 weeks before departure. You must accordingly check your tickets very carefully immediately on receipt to ensure you have the correct flight times. It is possible that flight times may be changed even after

tickets have been despatched - we will contact you as soon as possible if this occurs. Any change in the identity of the carrier, flight timings, and/or aircraft type (if advised) will not entitle you to cancel or change to other arrangements without paying our normal charges except where specified in these Booking Conditions. In the unlikely event of a change to your confirmed overseas airport, we will of course arrange for you to be transported to and from the alternative airport without any additional cost to you. We cannot be held liable for any delay which is due to any of the reasons set out in clause 11(2) of these Booking Conditions (which includes the behaviour of any passenger(s) on the flight who, for example, fails to check in or board on time). In addition, we will not be liable for any delay unless it has a significant effect on your holiday arrangements. All refreshments, meals and other assistance provided at the airport in the event of a flight delay are the responsibility of the airline concerned except where we expressly otherwise agree. It is the responsibility of the person who makes the booking to ensure that all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and other documents before departure. We regret we cannot accept any liability if you are refused entry onto any transport or into any country due to failure on your part to carry correct documentation. If failure to have any necessary travel or other documents results in costs, expenses, fines, surcharges or other financial penalty being imposed on or incurred by us, you will be responsible for reimbursing us accordingly. 10 Damage by and behaviour of the client Mark Warner and its employees shall be entitled to recover from you the cost (reasonably estimated if not precisely known) of any damage or loss caused by you either during or after your holiday. If the actual cost of any damage or loss is less than the amount paid by you at the time where only an estimate could be given, the difference will be refunded. Any extra must be paid if the actual cost turns out to be more than was paid at the time. You agree to behave reasonably and not to disrupt the enjoyment of others on holiday with you or prejudice

Mark Warner’s reputation with the owners of its accommodation or its other suppliers. We reserve the right to immediately terminate the holiday of any client whose behaviour, in our reasonable opinion or in the reasonable opinion of any other person in authority, causes or is likely to cause distress, danger or significant annoyance to other clients, employees or to any third party or damage to property. In the event of such termination, our responsibility for the client concerned immediately ceases and we will have no further contractual obligations towards that person including return travel arrangements. We shall further be under no liability to make any refunds or meet any costs or expenses incurred by you as a result or pay any compensation. 11 Liability of Mark Warner (1) (1) We promise to make sure that the holiday arrangements we have agreed to make, perform or provide as applicable as part of our contract with you are made, performed or provided with reasonable skill and care. This means that, subject to these Booking Conditions, we will accept responsibility if, for example, you suffer death or personal injury or your contracted holiday arrangements are not provided as promised or prove deficient as a result of the failure of ourselves, our employees, agents or suppliers to use reasonable skill and care in making, performing or providing, as applicable, your contracted holiday arrangements. Please note it is your responsibility to show that reasonable skill and care has not been used if you wish to make a claim against us. In addition, we will only be responsible for what our employees, agents and suppliers do or do not do if they were at the time acting within the course of their employment (for employees) or carrying out work we had asked them to do (for agents and suppliers). (2) We will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss (for example loss of enjoyment or loss of possessions), damage, expense, cost or other sum or claim of any nature or description whatsoever which results from any of the following: the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected or any member(s) of their party or the act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of your holiday and which were

unforeseeable or unavoidable or ‘force majeure’ as defined in clause 8 above (3) Please note, we cannot accept responsibility for any services which do not form part of our contract. This includes, for example, any additional services or facilities which your hotel or any other supplier agrees to provide for you where the services or facilities are not advertised on our website or in our brochure and we have not agreed to arrange them as part of our contract and any activity or excursion you purchase in resort. Please also see clause 14 “Website and brochure information and outside activities/excursions”. In addition, regardless of any wording used by us on our website, in any of our brochures or elsewhere, we only promise to use reasonable skill and care as set out above and we do not have any greater or different liability to you. (4) The promises we make to you about the services we have agreed to provide or arrange as part of our contract - and the laws and regulations of the country in which your claim or complaint occurred - will be used as the basis for deciding whether the services in question had been properly provided. If the particular services which gave rise to the claim or complaint complied with local laws and regulations applicable to those services at the time, the services will be treated as having been properly provided. This will be the case even if the services did not comply with the laws and regulations of the UK which would have applied had those services been provided in the UK. The exception to this is where the claim or complaint concerns the absence of a safety feature which might lead a reasonable holiday maker to refuse to take the holiday in question. Please note, however, our obligation is to exercise reasonable skill and care as referred to in clause 11 (1). We do not make any representation or commitment

that all services will comply with applicable local laws and regulations and failure to comply does not automatically mean we have not exercised reasonable skill and care. (5) Where we are found liable for loss of and/or damage to any luggage or personal possessions (including money), the maximum amount we will have to pay you is £1000 per person. Any payment is subject to your producing appropriate proof of the contents and value of the luggage or personal possessions concerned. For all other claims which do not involve death or personal injury, if we are found liable to you on any basis the maximum amount we will have to pay you is twice the holiday price (excluding any amendment charges) paid by or on behalf of the person(s) affected in total unless a lower limitation applies to your claim under clause 11 (6) below. This maximum amount will only be payable where everything has gone wrong and you have not received any benefit at all from your holiday. (6) Where any claim or part of a claim (including those involving death or personal injury) concerns or is based on any travel arrangements (including the process of getting on and/or off the transport concerned) provided by any air, sea, rail or road carrier to which any international convention or EU regulation applies, the maximum amount of compensation we will have to pay you will be limited. The most we will have to pay you for that claim or that part of a claim if we are found liable to you on any basis is the most the carrier concerned would have to pay under the international convention or regulation which applies to the travel arrangements or hotel stay in question (for example, the Warsaw Convention as amended or unamended and the Montreal Convention for international travel by

air and/or for airlines with an operating licence granted by an EU country, the EC Regulation on Air Carrier Liability No 889/2002 for national and international travel by air, the Athens Convention for international travel by sea (as amended by the 2002 protocol with effect from 31 December 2012) and COTIF, the Convention on International Travel by Rail). Please note: Where a carrier would not be obliged to make any payment to you under the applicable International Convention or Regulation in respect of a claim or part of a claim, we similarly are not obliged to make a payment to you for that claim or part of the claim. When making any payment, we are entitled to deduct any money which you have received or are entitled to receive from the carrier for the complaint or claim in question. Copies of the applicable International Conventions and Regulations are available from us on request. (7) We cannot accept any liability for any damage, loss, expense or other sum(s) of any description which (1) on the basis of the information given to us by you concerning your booking prior to our accepting it, we could not have foreseen you would suffer or incur if we breached our contract with you or (2) did not result from any breach of contract or other fault by ourselves or our employees or, where we are responsible for them, our suppliers. Additionally we cannot accept liability for any claims, expenses or losses which relate to any business (including without limitation any loss of earnings incurred by any clients who are self employed). (8) You must provide ourselves and our insurers with all assistance we or they may reasonably require. You must also tell us and the supplier concerned about your claim or complaint as set out in clause 15 below. If asked to do so, you must transfer to us or our insurers any

rights you have against the supplier or whoever else is responsible for your claim or complaint (if the person concerned is under 18, their parent or guardian must do so). You must also agree to cooperate fully with us and our insurers if we or our insurers want to enforce any rights which are transferred. 12 Airlines and other carriers When you travel with any carrier, the conditions of carriage of that carrier will apply, some of which will limit or exclude their liability to you often in accordance with the applicable international conventions (for examples, see clause 11(6)). Copies of the conditions of carriage are available from the carrier or ourselves. Our website and our brochure are our responsibility. They are not published on behalf of, and do not commit the airlines mentioned in it or any airline whose services are used for any holiday. Please note that in accordance with Air Navigation Orders, for a child not to be allocated their own seat on an aircraft they must be under 2 years of age on the date of their return flight. 13 Insurance You must have insurance which provides cover that is suitable and adequate for your specific requirements. Please read your policy details carefully and take them on holiday with you. Please note that most travel insurance policies do not cover hazardous activities. If you intend to take part in any such activities, you must obtain appropriate specialist insurance cover. We do not check insurance policies. We do however act as an introducer for Citybond Suretravel who may be able to provide you with suitable travel insurance. Please see our brochure/website for further details.

Booking conditions continued 14 Website and Brochure information and outside activities (a) The information contained on our website and in our brochure is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication. Our website and brochure descriptions often refer to other activities and/or excursions which are available outside the hotel and are bookable direct with the operator/centre concerned in resort. These activities and excursions are neither run nor controlled in any way by Mark Warner. They do not form any part of your contract with Mark Warner even where we suggest particular operators/centres or other third parties and/or assist you in booking such activities and/or excursions in any way. Accordingly, we regret Mark Warner cannot accept any liability in relation to these outside activities and excursions and our acceptance of liability under clauses 6 and 11(1) of our Booking Conditions will not apply to them. We do not however exclude liability for the negligence of ourselves or our employees (providing they were at the time acting within the course of their employment with us) resulting in your death or personal injury. (b) Where we or your hotel make or take any booking for or from you in respect of any activity or excursion available outside the hotel, we or the hotel, as applicable, do so solely as booking agent. This is the case regardless of whether the activity or excursion is advertised or mentioned in our brochure, in resort, on our website or elsewhere. Your contract for any such activity or excursion will be with the supplier or operator of that activity or excursion. Mark Warner has no liability for any such activity or excursion or for any act(s) or omission(s) of the supplier or operator or for any of its/their employees or agents or any other person(s) connected with the activity or excursion. If we or the hotel are found liable in any respect for any such activity or excursion (for example in our capacity as booking agent), that liability is limited to the cost of the particular activity or excursion concerned. We do not limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence. (c) Where your hotel makes or takes a booking for or from you in respect of an activity, facility or service provided by the hotel but which is not advertised in our brochure or on our website and we have not taken any payment from

92

you for this activity, facility or service, your contract for that activity, facility or service is directly with the hotel and not Mark Warner. This contract will be subject to the hotel’s own terms and conditions. Mark Warner has no liability for any such activity facility or service or for any act(s) or omission(s) of the hotel or for any of its employees or agents or any other person(s) connected with the activity service or facility. If however Mark Warner are found liable in any respect for any such activity, service or facility that liability is limited to the price you paid for the particular activity facility or service concerned. We do not limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence. (c) We cannot guarantee accuracy at all times of information given in relation to such activities and excursions or about the resorts generally (except where this concerns the services which will form part of your contract) or that any particular excursion or activity will take place or be available as these services are not under our control. If you feel that any of the activities or excursions mentioned are vital to the enjoyment of your holiday, write to us immediately and we will tell you the latest known situation. If we become aware of any material alterations to resort information and/or such activities or excursions which can reasonably be expected to affect your decision to book a holiday with us, we will pass on this information at the time of booking. 15 Complaints Should you have a problem or complaint at any time during your holiday, you must report it immediately to the Hotel Manager or Mark Warner representative and, if applicable, the supplier of any other services concerned who will endeavour to put things right quickly. Any complaint which is notified verbally must also be put in writing as soon as possible during your holiday. If you remain dissatisfied, please write to our Customer Services Department at: Mark Warner 20 Kensington Church Street London W8 4EP or email us at customerservices@markwarner.co.uk within 28 days of your return from holiday, giving all relevant information. Please include your e-mail address and daytime and evening telephone

numbers (if you are happy for us to contact you in this way) as this will enable us to respond to you more quickly. If you are not satisfied with our response we must be informed within another 28 days from the date of our correspondence. If you fail to follow this simple complaints procedure, your right to claim any compensation you may otherwise have been entitled to, may be affected or even lost as a result. 16 Special requests If you have any special requests, please inform us (if you have booked direct) or your travel agent in writing at the time of booking. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant supplier, we regret we cannot promise that any request will be complied with unless we or your travel agent have specifically confirmed this to you. For your own protection, you should obtain confirmation in writing from ourselves or your travel agent on our behalf that your request will be complied with (where it is possible for us to give this) if your request is important to you. Confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to the supplier or the inclusion of the special request on your confirmation invoice or any other documentation is not confirmation that the request will be met. Unless and until specifically confirmed, all special requests are subject to availability. 17 Jurisdiction We both agree that English law (and no other) will apply to your contract and to any dispute, claim or other matter of any description which arises between us (“claim) except as set out below. We both also agree that any claim (and whether or not involving any personal injury) must be dealt with by the Courts of England and Wales only unless you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. In this case, proceedings must either be brought in the Courts of your home country or those of England and Wales. If proceedings are brought in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may choose to have your contract and any claim governed by the law of Scotland/ Northern Ireland as applicable (but if you do not so choose, English law will apply).

18 Your Holiday Security We hold an Air Travel Organisers Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL No 1176). When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive an ATOL Certificate**. This lists the flight, accommodation, car hire and/or other services that are financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). *The flights and flight- inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing they are made available in the UK. For further information visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk. **ATOL Certificates will be issued for all flight and flight inclusive holiday bookings made on or after 1st October 2012. Although ATOL Certificates will not be issued before 1st October 2012, all flight and flight inclusive holiday bookings made prior to this date will also be protected by the ATOL scheme as set out above. 19 Trade Mark MARK WARNER is a registered trade mark owned by Mark Warner Limited in the United Kingdom (number 2368711) and in the EU (number 003958675). Date of publication August 2012.
