JUNIOR CAMPUS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Computers Over the last couple of weeks the ICT team has been working very hard distributing more than 330 computers to Year 7 and Year 10 students. The students have been very excited about using the computers to support their learning in class. However students are reminded that computer use is for carrying out learning tasks as directed by the teacher and does not include playing games and watching movies. The computers are a terrific addition to the schools resources and we would expect that all students are responsible in the way they use the computer and in the way they care for the computer. As with all electronic equipment they will break if not handled with care. It is quite disturbing to see students throwing them down at lockers and onto tables in the classroom. All students need to understand that wilful damage will not be tolerated and will result in additional costs to families for repairs. China Exchange On the 30th of March, fifteen students from Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be jetting off to China for eighteen days. The students will be going to Beijing for some initial sight-seeing and then they will travel by fast train to Nanjing where they will be staying at the University and participating in a language program for 5 days. From there, the students will travel by bus to Taizhou where they will be billeted with families from Taizhou High School. They will experience Chinese culture first hand, living with a family for five days and they will be involved in some classes at the school. The last couple of days will be spent in Shanghai, a city of more than twenty-three million people which has a huge array of shops, high rise buildings, markets and ancient Chinese gardens. The students involved will no doubt be happy to share their experience when they return and anyone interested in learning about the exchange program should speak to Mr Zhu, Mr Farrant or Mrs Coffey. We will be hosting students and teachers from Taizhou High School later in the year. If you would like to be involved in the program or be a host family please contact Mrs Coffey at the Senior Campus. Regards, Sue Coffey Senior Campus Principal

Growing together as adaptable, confident, successful learners and citizens March 4, 2014 Dear Parents, In our most recent College Connection nominations were called for parent representatives for the Traralgon College Council which is our governance body that oversees the running of the college. I would like to thank the two parents who nominated as representatives and as they are the only two nominations to notify that they have been elected to the council and welcome them to this role:  

Mr Murray Ellis who has renominated as a councillor and continues to give valuable service to our college. Mrs Maria Harrison joins us as a new council member.

We still have a number of vacancies for parent representatives on council and I encourage you all to consider nominating for the College Council. If you are interested in supporting your child’s education in this way or would like more information please contact me by:  

Phoning the senior campus on (03) 51762240 or emailing me directly at

It would be great to be able to fill all our council vacancies so please consider whether you are able to become involved in this way.

Paul van Breugel, Principal
