JUNIOR CAMPUS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT At the Junior Campus this term has been full of sporting events, outdoor education activities together with visits from community and health organisations. We are now approaching the reporting period so I would remind students and parents of the opportunity for additional support through the after school Homework Club which runs on Thursday nights. JC Camps Year 7 – Advanced notice to Year 7 parents that the Year 7 camp has been re-booked for Term 4. Students will receive information early next term. Year 8 – The camp to Tasmania in Term 4 has been very popular with students and is now fully booked. Year 9 – This year we have two separate camps, both spending some time in Melbourne. These camps will provide students with an urban experience and challenge their thinking around life in the city and its options. One camp will be in the last week of this term and the other group will be later in Term 3. JC Students as Active Citizens Student leaders have been very active in the College supporting the Awareness Day and Grade 6 Information Night events. Thanks to all students involved in these important Grade 6 to Year 7 transition events. I had several comments from parents and visiting students who appreciated getting to know some of our students and having the opportunity to ask them questions about life at secondary school. Student’s City School Visit A group of students will be travelling to Melbourne this week to experience a city school for the day. Students will be investigating how Fitzroy High School students work and learn together and will then report back their findings to teachers and students at our school. This information will be used to look at ways the learning programs at Traralgon College can be enhanced. We will share some of what the students find out in the next College Connection. Report Writing Day There is a Report Writing Day on Monday 17th June. This is a student free day across both campuses. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
