SENIOR CAMPUS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be presented from the 11th to the 14th of September, the second last week of term three. Please make sure you get your tickets and come along as the students have been working hard for approximately 20 weeks and we would love to see them performing to a full house. The show will be at the senior campus hall and having seen some of the rehearsals over the last couple of month’s l am sure everyone will enjoy it. Reports will be distributed next week and during the last week of term we have parent/student/teacher interviews at both campuses. This time is put aside for students and parents to meet with teachers to discuss student’s progress. We believe this a valuable experience and hope as many parents/guardians as possible make the time to come along and meet with their child’s teachers. Working together we can achieve the best outcomes for our students. Thank you to all the students who submitted their course selection by the due date this year. Over the next couple of weeks we will be working through courses for 2013, doing our best to provide as many courses as we can with the information we have. If your child has not submitted a course selection form and intends on continuing their education at Traralgon College they must submit a form immediately. Subject choices are not guaranteed and whilst we do our best to cater for all our students we can only run classes that have a sufficient number of students in them. We base this on the information provided to us from the course selection forms so if we do not have them in on time we may not run a class or we may only run one class and it will be populated with the students who submitted their forms on time. In 2013 the Senior Campus will be moving to a four period day to align with the Junior Campus. This change will allow college staff to develop a collaborative approach to planning across campuses, time for professional inquiry into curriculum design and enable effective use of the Ultra Net. It will allow for teachers to work on both campuses, such as our Music teacher and also reduce the down time created when students move between classes at the senior campus. School Council is currently reviewing the school uniform. This is a process that occurs every five years and we are interested in your feedback. The purpose is not to redesign the uniform but to make changes by adding items of clothing and phasing out other items if deemed necessary. The Student Representative Council (SRC) has asked a couple of distributors to provide them with some new samples that will be displayed at the college. All students will be given the opportunity to indicate their preferences. If you would like to provide feedback to the College Council about our uniform please complete the survey on this form and return it to the school office by Wednesday 12th of September.
