Pioneers Coaching Staff

ASSISTANT COACH Dylan Rajkovich enters his second season with the Transylvania baseball team as an assistant coach in 2019. In his first season at Transylvania, Rajkovich helped the Pioneers achieve a fourwin improvement from the season before as part of head coach Zack Getsee’s staff.

As an assistant at Webster in 2016-17, Rajkovich specialized in recruiting and player development, helping guide player Josh Fleming into becoming a fifthround draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. Rajkovich was part of memorable Webster teams which advanced to two NCAA Regionals and one NCAA Division III College World Series appearance during his time there. His individual accolades include a SCIAC All-Conference First Team and All-Conference Academic First Team selections, as well as a notable three-run homer in the 2015 NCAA Regional which vaulted Webster into the College World Series.

DJ Eckert enters his second season as the Transylvania baseball pitching coach in 2019. Eckert arrived in Lexington after spending the last four years as a pitcher and assistant coach at Division II Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana. Eckert began his time at Saint Joseph’s playing two years under head coach Rick O’Dette at Saint Joseph’s College before a shoulder injury ended his playing career. Eckert was part of a 2015 pitching staff that found itself ranked in the top-15 nationally as a team in ERA and WHIP, and the top 7 in K per 9 and K:BB ratio. While unable to play, Eckert continued with the Saint Joseph’s baseball program, working as an assistant coach and fulfilling roles in scouting and pitching instruction, and was voted a team leader by teammates. In Eckert’s senior year, the Pumas were ranked as high as #12 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball poll and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament. While at Saint Joseph’s College, Eckert coached two MLB draft picks in Brian Bayliss (Kansas City Royals) and Keegan Long (Arizona Diamondbacks). Eckert spent two summers working as the pitching coach for the Indiana Braves baseball club. Players under Eckert have signed National Letters of Intent to schools in all levels of the NCAA, NJCAA, and NAIA. 11
