In 1961, 6 year old Joe Bisogno tested the waters of business ownership with a lemonade stand. He continued to build up his savings account by sweeping barbershop floors, shining shoes, and running a paper route. Unlike most teenagers Joe invested his savings into his future. From 1972 – 1976 Joe owned and operated his own ice cream truck, gas station, and used car lot. “I always wanted to be in business for myself. I was always looking at how I could change things and make them better”. For the next decade from 1976 to 1988 Joe learned important lessons in restaurant management by working at the McDonalds® Corporation. The most important coming from chain founder Ray Kroc: “If you take care of the customer, the customer will take care of you.” On March 1st 1989, Joe opened his first Mr. Goodcents® Subs and Pastas restaurant in Lenexa, Kansas. As company founder and president, even today Joe humbly continues to call himself the “Chief Cook and Bottle Washer” at Mr. Goodcents®
