Welcome home. Beautiful surroundings, friendly sta; a truly Northern Irish welcome. A grand and homely place is a true rarity, and Dunadry Hotel is unlike any other. A four-star hotel built on the site of an ancient fort and once home to both paper and linen mills, the Dunadry Hotel is rich with stories of times past. For some, we've had the privilege of hosting the happiest days of their lives. For others, the Dunadry is home to fond memories of reunions and celebrations. We warmly invite you to share your story with us; to become a piece of our history here; to help us create new memories in this rare and beautiful place.

We look forward to welcoming you.

On behalf of Cathy and myself I would like to warmly welcome you all to our convention weekend. we are delighted to have chosen the Dunadry Hotel, meaning ‘middle fort’, as a location for this convention. where better to greet people than in the entrance hall of the hotel where every county on the island is represented by their coat of arms? It is wonderful for us all to meet up against such a heartening background of peace and hope for the future. As Lions we can be proud that the friendship and personal links we have fostered across all corners of our island for decades past is now serving as a model for what can be achieved on this little island on the fringes of Europe. we meet this weekend as Lions – but we also gather as friends. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for bestowing on me the great honour of being your District Governor for 2009/2010. I know  it is going to be a great weekend so please come to say ‘hello’ to Cathy and myself over the next few days as we would love to meet up with old friends  – and make some new friends. To John Mooney and the staff of the Dunadry Hotel well done on a truly professional job. I would also like to sincerely thank President Martin and the members of Antrim Lions for their dedication, friendship and hard work. They are indeed a credit to our district and association. A special mention also to our international ‘guest of honour’ Pino Grimaldi from Sicily who is a former International President of Lions Clubs International.

Dear Lions and Lion friends,

Enjoy your weekend and I hope you bring something back with you to your clubs, whether it is information, knowledge or just a simple memory. we indeed feel honoured that you have taken time out from your busy personal lives to spend this weekend with us. May I finally thank you again for your very valued contribution to Lions in this District and I hope that we leave our communities and abroad a better place to live in at the end of this year. On behalf of Lions International, our District Governor James O’Sullivan,  105I and in particular, Antrim Lions Club it is my great honour and privilege  to welcome you to the Dunadry Hotel near the historic town of Antrim where we are hosting the Lions of Ireland 41st convention. It is the third time that this club has been entrusted with our convention  and I hope that once again we will prove a worthy choice. I recognise that it has been a difficult year for us all, personally and also as an organisation involved in charity, fundraising and service in the community, but again it has been a year where we have seen that internationally, nationally and locally the need and the importance of the work of our organisation has never been greater. I hope that through our efforts, ideas, friendship and fellowship, this weekend will further our aims and strengthen our organisation. Remember, first and foremost Lions are about people and without you we are nothing, so it is our intention that you have a memorable time with us. If you have any queries, require any information, help or assistance of any kind [nothing is too small] please do not hesitate to speak with one of the members of Antrim Lions Club. I have included some contact details within this brochure. Lastly, but most importantly, we, particularly within our own club tend to take our own member PDG John Mooney for granted. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work as Convention Chairman and for his kindness and generosity and that of his family for facilitating us here  at the Dunadry Hotel. I would also like to thank our own members and our sponsors who never fail us.

PAS T INTERNATIO NAL  PR ES IDENT

Dear Lions of the great District of Ireland. Greetings! I am back to your beautiful Country to represent our beloved International Association at your District Convention and, indeed, I am very proud of and happy for! The District Convention is the most important time in the life of the peripheral structure of Lions International. It is the time to consider the achievement gathered through the years, to honour the Lions who have been serving at club and district level to improve the quality of life of our less fortunate brothers and sisters, to elect the new leadership for the following year and, above all, to testify to the greatness, importance and credibility of Lions Clubs International. Under the Chairmanship of DG James O’Sullivan, your Convention will certainly be the best ever.  And for me, it will be one more occasion to enjoy along with you all and to touch with my finger the sincere commitment to the cause of Lionism of each and every one of you. Enjoy your Convention and God bless.

It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of Antrim Borough Council, to welcome you to the beautiful Borough of Antrim and one of its finest hotels, the Dunadry. I am delighted that you have chosen to hold your 41st Annual Convention in Antrim for the third time. I know that many of you have travelled a great distance to be here and I hope that you have the opportunity to explore and discover the many hidden treasures Antrim has to offer.  May you take home very special memories of Antrim. The word "Lions" stands for liberty, intelligence and our nations safety and it  is certainly true to say that Lions live up to their name.  The fundraising which has been undertaken by you over the years has been tremendous and congratulations must go to each and every “Lion”. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in organising this convention. Events like this don’t just happen. They take a lot of hard work  and dedication to make them a success.  In closing, I would like to thank you for all you have done, not only for our Borough but further afield. I look forward to many more years celebrating  the work of the Lions.

Robinson Services - over 40 years experience and still counting... The name Robinson has been associated with the cleaning industry from as far back as 1968 when James Robinson had the idea of cleaning windows on a part-time basis locally in Antrim town. Today the organisation employs around 1,200 people UK wide, providing everything from cleaning to security services to a range of customers from the public and private sector including universities, colleges, offices, shopping centres, car showrooms and retail outlets. Robinson Services operate four separate divisions: Cleaning, Hygiene, Laundry and Security. Our success has been achieved by providing a quality service at a competitive price. Our ability to create partnerships with staff and customers has made us one of the leading cleaning and support services companies in the United Kingdom. Robinson Services was the first private cleaning and support services company in Northern Ireland to achieve the Investors in People Accreditation in September 2001. We are proud of the many other awards and accreditations we have won in recent years, such as National Training Awards, Delivering Excellence Award, Golden Service Award, Loo of the Year Awards and the ISO 9001 Accreditation.

For further information on any of our divisions give us a call on 028 9442 9717 or visit www.robinson-services.com
