Official Newsletter of the Austin-Healey Club of Southern Ontario

MAY 2015 spring supplement Hello Healey Members, After an exhaustive search of every Restrauant in Milton we moved onto Burlington. Gerry Maguire personally visited 26 restaurants in the Burlington area and found that four may be suitable. The Black Bull Pub was the only one that had everything we need as a club. Some of us had dinner there, the beer is cold and the food is good. We all visited the pub and talked with management , it was nice to see that the owners want us and the manager was very helpful, she has been there for 16 years, I think that tells the story. The parking lot is a good size and looks to be safe. The only negative for some is that the meeting night must be moved to Tuesday, however we think that once you come out and see what they have to offer the trade off will be welcome. The details: Black Bull Pub 1124 Guelph Line Burlington ON L7P 1A5 They have a website if u would like directions or more info on food etc. Tuesday May 12th Social hour is the same 7pm Meeting at 8 pm Parking, important Info, please read: If you are traveling North from the QEW on Guelph Line, you will turn left at Mountainside Drive (there is an Esso on the NW corner and Montana’s Restaurant on the SE corner of this intersection). Turn left at the first Street which is Industrial Street/North Service Road. The Pub parking lot entrance is located is on the left side of the Street. Travelling South, you will turn right at Mountainside Drive and follow the above instructions. This is the best way to bring you car in as there are speed bumps at the side of the building if you come in or exit from Guelph Line directly. Your Restrauant committee included Jane and Ed Kesik, Gerry Maguire and me. We had some help with beer samplers, Bill McNaughton, Mal Bruce, both confirmed that the beer passed inspection. And our President Bob gave his blessing, let’s hope we have a new home for many years. Phil THE RESONATOR / Page 1

“SUNNY” That was the long range forecast for the day of the Flea Market. Temperature and wind velocity, experience has shown, are parts of the forecast to be glossed over. And sunny it was. Several bright days with rising temperatures and a high of 20 on the day before got many LBC owners waxing, polishing, fettling, and lured them to drive their British cars to Ancaster. We had Big Healeys, Bugeyes and Sprites, TR 2’s to 8’s, Spitfires and a Stag, MG A’s, B’s T’s, F’s and Midgets, Jag E’s, X’s sedans and a 120, MINI’s old and new, Morgans, Wolesley, Austin, Zepher, Loti, TVR’s, Rover, Land Rover RR, Sunbeam Alpines, Tigers and a 1953 Alpine, Aston Martin’s, a Prefect, Morris Minor, Hillman and a Consul and when I added in the 6 cars in various states of mobility in the Outside Vendors area a total of 301 for what most felt was the largest car show in many many years. We also had a new purveyor of foodstuffs in British Bakery whose fare was a great improvement. But, as usual, the continued efforts of all the volunteers, many arising at a gawdawful early hour to do the set up of the hall and check in of vendors, volunteers and do the Club Booth, handle the gates, cash and finally the tear down and clean up made the day a success. Thanks to all of you. Bill McNaughton Ancaster British Car Flea Market Committee Chairman
