January 19, 2010 Happy New Year! We’d like to thank all of our supporters from the past year. You’ve been generous with your time as well as financial support, enabling us to continue to meet the rising needs of our community. The staff and trainees here at Training, Inc. are looking forward to new adventures in 2010. January 4th was the start of a new training session. Ring Ring Ring Recently Hired Graduates

News Our Clothing Closet is bursting at the seams due to donations from two local companies. The trainees here at Training, Inc. will have a very large selection of business clothing to chose from as they get prepared to go out on their internships and job interviews. M&I Bank and Hat World both held very successful clothing drives for our organization this past winter. In November, we received a phone call from M&I Bank with the news that they had held a clothing drive at their company and collected nearly 300 articles of men and women's business clothing and accessories. Although unexpected, their kindness was greatly appreciated. Not more tha n a month later, we received a similar phone call from a representative at Hat World. They had also organized a

We like to recognize graduates of the program who are hired for full time employment, as well as, those graduates who decide to pursue education as a full time student. We celebrate these accomplishments with a bell ringing ceremony. Graduates return to the office to ring a giant bell and share with enrolled trainees and staff members their experience throughout the hiring process. They then place their name and job or school on the board to highlight their accomplishment.

They have been a proud supporter of our organization for several years, and they were our title sponsor at our first golf outing held last July. Our relationship with Hat World is a relatively new one, and we look forward to partnering with them again in the future. "Hat World was proud to support this organization, and tips its cap to the tireless efforts of the Training Inc. team and the impressive level of drive of those it serves. Hat World hopes to be able to support Training Inc. again very soon ", said Ashley Gibbons, Hat World Communications and Public Relations Specialist. The generosity of both M&I Bank and Hat World will continue to enable us to assist out clients as we strive to fulfill our mission of equipping people for self sufficiency. Clients enrolled in our training programs are expected to dress in business casual attire every day while at training. Many of the individuals that we work with do not have the necessary clothing to fulfill this requirement or to look professional as they go out on a job interview. The clothing closet is where our client or past graduates can go to find appropriate business clothing. We rely on the community for donations to meet this need.

Want to get more involved at Training, Inc.? Here's your chance. We are looking for people interested in serving on one of several committees. The committees that are most in need include: Finance, Fundraising, and PR/Marketing. Each committee will be made up of 3 to 4 people and chaired by a current board member. We understand that people's schedules are very busy, so serving on a committee requires a minimal time commitment. Meetings will be held once every 2 months or as needed. The following is a brief description of the responsibilities of each committee: Finance Committee is responsible for financial reporting, capital assets, investments, annual budget preparation, reviewing annual tax submissions, audits and/or reviews and reviewing employee compensation packages (salary structure and benefits). Fundraising Committee is responsible for assisting with the organization's fundraising efforts. This includes: donor prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Members will work with a subcommittee on preparation for the Golf Outing in July.

Graduate Spotlight Meet Rodriguez Payne It had been months since Rodriguez last worked. With no source of income and no permanent housing, his future looked bleak. He had a GED and some exposure to higher education, but was unable to secure permanent employment. His eagerness to find a job led him to Training, Inc. Rodriguez enrolled in our Warehouse and Distribution program on March 20, 2009. He had some previous warehouse experience, but was interested in gaining more. As a member of Logistics 4, he learned valuable knowledge about inventory management, productivity measures, scanning and data entry, and workplace culture, all the while gaining confidence in himself. He completed the 8 week course this past April with a Certified Warehouse Distribution Specialist certification, 10-hour OSHA safety certification, and 6 hours of fork lift training. Since graduating from Training, Inc., Rodriguez has been very busy. During the week he attends Ivy Tech hoping to complete his degree in the paralegal studies in May. He also remains active into the weekend where he works full time at Guitar Distribution Center in their warehouse.

Stepping Stones Graduation You are invited to attend the Stepping Stones Graduation Ceremony on Feburary 25. The ceremony will be held at Citizen's Gas and will begin promptly at 4:00pm. To RSVP email Samantha. Training, Inc.'s 2nd Annual Golf Outting The date for our 2nd golf outting has been set. The event will take place on Friday, July 30, 2010.
