ASIA 2014

China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Singapore

Expertly planned guided holidays, including authentic local dining and unique sightseeing, complete with first class accommodation, comfortable transportation and river cruising

A

sia is one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. Last year I travelled there twice and learned the importance of experiencing it the right way. When I returned from my trips, I asked our Asia team to make sure all our Trafalgar guests see the real Asia. Together we’ve developed our itineraries and our exclusive Insider Experiences, so you can gain an in-depth understanding of the culture and customs as you travel with us. Our Insider Experiences help you see the destination like a local, through interaction with local characters and first hand exploration of regional specialities. One of many is our Be My Guest dining experiences that take you inside a family home or business where you will interact with local hosts, like the landlady of an authentic Ryokan in Kyoto to enjoy traditional Japanese kaiseki lunch. Or it could be experiencing a regional speciality hands on – like making Chinese dumplings in Xi'an. It is these unforgettable travel experiences that stay with you long after you arrive home. We know how important it is to see Asia in comfort and stay in the right location. That’s why our city hotels are always centrally located, close to major attractions. Our trips now include Authentic Accommodation which is unique to the region, from a Japanese Monastery Inn, to a traditional Vietnamese Junk boat. We are your friend in every destination, guiding the way so you don’t have to lift a finger – and our professionally trained Asian Travel Directors add local secrets and reveal unexpected surprises. You’ll travel in small groups, adding to the real insider’s view, on our comfortable coaches driven by expert Coach Drivers, or via internal flights and river cruise ships which have been carefully chosen to maximise the enjoyment of your holiday. As the world’s number one guided holiday operator I believe we win our accolades because we are passionate about what we do, care about our guests and always go the extra mile to bring you genuine travel experiences at exceptional value. We are proud to extend our 66 years of knowledge to Asia, so come and join us on an exciting adventure you’ll never forget.

A taste of culture A destination really comes alive through its menus. But it’s not just about trying Dim Sum or Pho; it’s about stepping out of restaurants and into a local’s home to dine with them, or meeting the people who prepare your food. BE MY GUEST B – AN INSIDER EXPERIENCE Our Be My Guest dining experiences connect you with the true essence of a destination. These exclusive events give you a unique opportunity to savour amazing dishes and mingle with local hosts in their own environment. These are just a few of the dining experiences you could have on your Trafalgar Asian guided holiday:

Traditional Ryokan, Kyoto, Japan Experience Japanese hospitality at its best when visiting a Ryokan, a traditional inn, run by a local family. You will be presented with a Waka Poem, hand written in calligraphy, and your hosts will show you around their lovely home and gardens before you enjoy a kaiseki lunch of Japanese delicacies.

Tra Que Village, Hoi An, Vietnam Mr Tran Quoc Tuan and his family welcome you to their herb farm and give you an insight into how their produce is grown and prepared, before you settle in for a delicious meal made with fresh local ingredients. Appreciate tranquil views across the fields as you savour Vietnamese specialities and listen to Mr Tuan’s fascinating tales.

Hutong Tour, Beijing, China Ride a traditional rickshaw through the narrow streets and alleys of Beijing called Hutongs, before arriving at an authentic courtyard house. Here you will be welcomed by a local family and invited to a meal of local specialities. To get a taste of some of our Be My Guest experiences and to see sample menus visit www.trafalgar.com
