Tracy ConoboyHidden Typography Process Book

In my first sketch, I tried out a method in which I did not draw the heads or the bottoms of legs in order to maintain a balanced cap height, x-height, and baseline. My first sketch was too large for the page, but I was testing out how I would draw the letterforms.

Here, I drew out the way in which I wanted the letterforms to look and I inked it in to give it depth and see what I should change when doing my final piece.

This is the sketch in which I used the light board to trace over the previous sketch and figure out what to change about the letterforms as a whole. I traced different forms of the letter “R in order to maintain a certain width, while not getting rid of the human form.
