The BBG’s annual cherry blossom festival reigns as a celebration of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. With over 60 events and performances, Sakura Matsuri marks the end of hanami, the enjoyment of the cherry blossom season. Don’t miss the fun this year!

“Before the Fall: German and Austrian Art of the 1930s” is devoted to the development of the arts in the two nations during the decade marked by economic crisis, political disintegration and social chaos. Featuring nearly 150 paintings and works, the exhibition will trace the routes traveled by the artists in the years leading up to World War II.

One of the most critically acclaimed artists of her generation, New York-based artist Zoe Leonard has produced incredible photographs and sculptures. Her work is celebrated for its lyrical observations of daily life, as well as its questioning attention to the politics and conditions of image making

Offering an intimate portrait of the life of David Bowie, this exhibition explores the creative process of the artist who revolutionized the way we see music. “David Bowie is” reigns as the final bow for the globally travelling exhibition, presenting 400 immersive objects from the artist’s archive.

“Like Life: Sculpture, Color, and the Body (1300–Now)” explores seven hundred years of sculptural practice, and the narratives of those artists who have attempted to replicate the living presence of the human body through art. The exhibition examines the age-old problem of realism, and the blurring distinctions between original and copy, and life and art.
