HP Residents and Visitors Race Day Information Sheet The Dallas White Rock marathon will be held on Sunday December 5, 2010 starting at 8:00 am. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) is the intended beneficiary of proceeds raised from the MetroPCS Dallas White Rock Marathon. Part of the race course will be in Highland Park. With that being said, there will be a number of road closures in order to accommodate the race. You can expect road closures from approximately 8:00 to 10:00 am for the following route: North on Lakeside Dr. through the Town of Highland Park to Beverly Dr. - Beverly Dr east to Abbot Ave - Abbott Ave north to Cornell Ave -Cornell Ave. east to Airline - Airline to the southbound I-75 Access Road. For race information, road closures, and a course map go to the White Rock Marathon web site at http://www.runtherock.com. We apologize for any inconvenience that you may experience on race day. We will continue to provide our traditional high level of service. The road closures were coordinated through race officials to provide safe routes for race participants. Race day alternate routes: *Anyone who lives South of Beverly Drive and East of Preston Road needing to leave during the race should consider using Abbott Ave to Knox and take Hwy 75 North or South to avoid road closures. There will be three bands playing in Highland Park. 1. HP High school band at the corner of Lexington at Lakeside Dr. 2. Blake Wegeners band “Neighborhood Noise” on Turtle Creek at Wycliffe 3. Bob Rosen’s band “Rockupational Therapy” on a resident’s lawn in the 3100 block of Beverly Drive Supporters and spectators are welcome and encouraged to join Highland Park DPS at the northwest corner of Lakeside and Wycliff. With this being the entry into HP, it would be nice to give runners a warm welcome from the HP community. So bring your lawn chairs and be ready to have a good time.
