Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Play Production Class – Grades 5-7

Saturdays, 10 am – 1 pm September 28 - December 14* (Performance Monday, December 16, at 7 pm) Tuition: $250 Directed by Shelly Bordas Acting Up! Theatre Arts for Teens is an affordable, educational, and fun organization for inspiring young actors ages 12-18. We strive to train, encourage, and inspire teens in the theatre to grow as performers as well as young adults. Since 2002, Acting Up has been creating original productions and performances in all kinds of genres and venues. This fall, we take on the Bard himself! This irreverent adventure into the works of Shakespeare is a fantastic introduction with absolutely none of the confusion. Throw out everything you know about Ol’ Bill, and get ready for a hilarious and fast-paced stab (literally) at his complete (or compleat) works!

Tuesdays, 4-6 pm October 1 – December 10* (Performance Tuesday, December 10 at 6 pm) Tuition: $175 Directed by Shelly Bordas Harry has all-new problems to deal with as he enters his third year at Hogwarts. Voldemort’s evil assistant, Sirius Black, has escaped from the Wizard prison of Azkaban and is after Harry. Vile creatures called Dementors stalk the grounds in search of Sirius, but seem just as happy to attack anyone nearby. There’s a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but there’s something suspicious about him. By the end, Harry will have many answers about his past… but does he want to know?

Annie Jr. Play Production Class – Grades 3-5

Wednesdays, 4-6 pm October 2 – December 11* (Performance Tuesday, December 11 at 6 pm) Tuition: $175 Directed by Kelly McAllister The book that started it all! Follow Bilbo Baggins as he is dragged from his comfortable (and boring) life in The Shire by the wizard, Gandalf. He gets a true taste of adventure when he joins a company of dwarves who mean to reclaim their home and gold from the terrible dragon, Smaug. Along the way they will meet elves, trolls, goblins and spiders. And maybe even find a tiny ring that changes everything..

Mondays, 4-6 pm September 30 – December 9* (Performance Monday, December 9 at 6 pm) Tuition: $175 Directed by Shelly Bordas While Town Hall Arts Center produces the full version of the family favorite musical, “Annie”, our students will create their own, shorter version of this show! Follow the plucky orphan, Annie, as she escapes her terrible orphanage into the wondrous world of 1930s New York City. Along the way she meets many colorful characters, singing and dancing her way into everyone’s heart. Full of your favorite songs like “Tomorrow”, this production is a great introduction to theater and a challenge for experienced actors alike!

Our favorite theater games come to life! Students learn about the magic of theater through games that stimulate their imagination and foster cooperation. As students get more comfortable, these games will become short scenes and even teach valuable lessons! A great class for beginners to theater. Students learn and practice the fundamental techniques of stage acting, public speaking, and improvisation while working on this fun-filled production. *There will be no classes over Thanksgiving Week, the week of November 25 – 29.
