Attractions 2020!
Hiking and Biking Trails The old Brigade Trail lookout point high above the Okanagan Valley will reward you with amazing views of the Valley below, access at the end of Garnet Valley Road. If it is a mountain biking challenge you are looking for then try the Test of Humanity Loop off Morrow Ave. Giant's Head Mountain Park is a little easier to access and offers a spectacular 360 degree view of Summerland and Okanagan Lake. If all you want is a leisurely stroll try the Trout Creek Dike, the Lakeshore Pathway, or Summerland's portion of the Trans Canada Trail (KVR) featuring 61 kms of spectacular beauty and nature between Summerland and Osprey Lake. Start your journey at Fyffe Road, following the old flume line to the Kettle Valley Railway’s Prairie Valley Station. Portions of the trail are wheelchair and stroller friendly. For more information on these and other trails visit the Summerland Visitor Centre.
Just a few minutes south of Downtown Summerland, opposite the Sun-Oka Beach turnoff on Hwy 97 is the Summerland Ornamental Gardens. Beautifully landscaped and overlooking Okanagan Lake, Trout Creek Canyon and Giant’s Head Mountain. Perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon or a quiet picnic lunch. Admission is by donation. Rental of garden facilities for weddings, larger gatherings, etc. are asked to book ahead by calling 250-494-7711.

Summerland was one of the first communities in the Okanagan Valley to embrace the development of the commercial fruit industry in the late 1800’s. Over 100 years later it continues to thrive with the development of the Agri-Tourism industry. Summerland Sweets factory offers beautiful jams, jellies, syrups and sweets all made locally. Summerland Haskap is relatively new to the fruit market with delicious berries and jams. Quality fresh picked fruit and vegetables can be found at any one of our local Fruit Stands or Farmer's Markets held May to October every Tuesday in Memorial Park or Sunday on Main St. There are over 20 wineries in the Summerland area. Winery Tours and tastings are offered at most wineries including: 8th Generation Vineyard, Back Door Winery, Dirty Laundry Vineyard, Estate Thurn, Giant Head Estate Winery, Sage Hills Vineyard, Saxon Winery, Silkscarf Winery, Summerland Estate Winery, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery, Thornhaven Estate Winery and TH Wines.

SUN-OKA BEACH PROVINCIAL PARK
Summerland is the perfect setting for a truly relaxing vacation or visit. An integral part of the Okanagan experience, Summerland’s natural beauty and small town warmth are a haven for the visitor who craves outdoor recreation, agri-tourism opportunities and rich cultural activities. Summerland’s charming downtown is filled with unique shops, cafés and bistros. Rural lifestyle with urban amenities. Heritage attractions include the historic Kettle Valley Steam Railway, which operates May through October and provides musical entertainment, special coach bookings and theme trains like the Great Train Robbery and BBQ events during summer months or the Christmas train in December; or you can tour the exquisite Ornamental Gardens, planted over 100 years ago, and the Agriculture Museum, which are both located at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre. Another “must see” historic feature in Summerland is the Trout Creek Canyon Bridge, 238 feet high above the canyon floor. Experience more panoramic views by hiking Giants Head Mountain Park or wind your way above Prairie Valley along Summerland's portion of the Trans Canada Trail (KVR Trail).
