Welcome to Penticton! "A Place To Stay Forever".

Penticton really is a place to stay forever, the people that come to visit often will find it is a place that they would like to retire. Retirement isn’t the only reason people are drawn to move here, because there are so many things to do in Penticton. Outdoor activities are a big part of life to many residents and visitors alike. Water sports are a given with vast beaches at both, north and south ends of town and a river channel connecting the two lakes. If you’re looking for just a little relaxation, what better way to relax than lying on the beach or taking a leisurely float down the channel and soaking up some sunshine, don't forget your sunscreen. In the valley there is a wide range of biking and hiking trails from beginner to expert and it’s just a 30 minute drive to Apex Mountain Ski Resort for a fun filled day on the slopes, also open in the summer months for downhill cycling and hiking with spectacular panoramic views, you're sure to get that scenic picture you're looking for. There are quite a number of fantastic distilleries in the Okanagan that turn the local fruit into wonderful spirits and liqueurs. You can find some at Maple Leaf Spirits and Old Order Distilling. Award winning wines await the connoisseur at some of the finest wineries in the valley or take a short drive to a fruit stand at one of the many orchards nearby to sample the freshest fruit you’ve ever tasted. If golf is your thing, there are plenty of courses for the beginner or pro golfer to try. Take the kids to LocoLanding Adventure Park for a round of mini golf, Go-Karting or Bumper Boats. Or try indoor rock climbing at Hoodoo Adventures, they also rent kayaks for more outdoor fun. These are just a few of the fun and exciting things to see and do in and around Penticton. We hope you enjoy your stay here in Penticton. Come and find a place for you to stay forever!

A leisurely float down the River Channel A visit to Penticton isn't complete without taking a floatation device down the Okanagan River Channel. See what fun the locals have been enjoying for years.

Penticton-Ikeda Japanese Garden One of Penticton's unique gardens is located behind the Penticton Art Gallery next to Okanagan Lake. It was created in tribute of our relationship between Penticton and our sister city of Ikeda, Japan. The Japanese influence of rocks, trees, water and plants provides a peaceful and relaxing setting. If you take a stroll from the Japanese Gardens west through the Okanagan Lake Park, Rotary Park along the Walking Promenade you will find yourself at the Inland Marine Heritage Park where the SS Sicamous Stern wheeler, SS Naramata and the CN Tug# 6 are sitting.

Keep Your Pet Safe in Hot Weather

During the summer it is extremely important to make sure your pet isn't left in a hot vehicle. Many people aren't aware just how quickly dogs & cats can overheat when left in a vehicle in hot weather. In just ten minutes the temperature in a parked car (even in the shade with the windows partly open) can reach a level that can seriously harm or even kill your pet. If you see an animal in distress trapped in a hot car, please call the SPCA or police immediately.

Welcome to

Wine Country What could be more picturesque than sipping on a glass of chardonnay overlooking the beautiful Okanagan Valley? The Okanagan Valley is the second largest wine region in Canada and home to over 150 wineries, from Vernon in the North to Osoyoos in the South. The Okanagan is an optimal place to grow the kinds of grapes and fruit that produce excellent wines and has become well known internationally for award winning and unique wineries. Within a 30 minute drive of Penticton you will find over 50 wineries to select your new favourite wine, from a Pinot Noir to a sweet dessert Icewine. Most wineries have a tasting room to try before you buy. Wineries range from quaint boutique and family-run wineries to large, luxurious facilities. New wineries are popping up every year, each with their own distinctive flavours. Many of the local wines are available at the BC VQA Wine Information Centre. Two wine festivals are hosted every year, in the beginning of May is the Okanagan Spring Wine Festival and in October is the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival. Come and enjoy some of the finest wines the world has to offer! 9752 Jones Flat Road Summerland, BC 250-800-1199
