Swimming Descriptions & Fees The Swim For Life Program!

Lesson Registration

The Okotoks Aquatics Centre, along with the Lifesaving Society, is pleased to promote the Swim for Life program. This research-based program focuses on making swimmers safer in and around the water. Water Smart Education is included in all of our learn-to-swim classes! Our aim is to provide participants with the swimming and survival skills, along with water safety know-how, necessary to be active in and around the water.

L’il Tots – Levels 1, 2 & 3

Once you have selected your preferred session and time of the lessons, register online at netreg.okotoks.ca or call Client Services at the Recreation Centre at 403-938-8954. Of course, we also welcome in person registrations! When registering online, please make sure that you complete all the prompts required. This information assists staff in ensuring that your child is placed in the correct class. All swimmers are also evaluated by their instructor on the first day to ensure they are registered in the class that best meets their individual needs.

Waitlists:

If the class you are looking for is full, then please ask to be put on the waitlist. The Aquatic Centre uses these waitlists to add classes based on greatest demand. We have been able to accommodate over two-thirds of the people on waitlists! Please keep in mind that added classes may have different start times and dates, so you may need to be a little flexible.

This is a parented program that is designed to introduce infants and toddlers to the water. It focuses on teaching parents proper techniques to help their children learn in a positive, safe and fun environment. We have divided some of our L’il Tots programs into 2 levels. Where possible, we are now offering the L’il Tots 3 as a separate class, so we can provide a better experience for those “older” tots and their parents.

Preschool 1 – 5

The Preschool program is made up of 5 levels. These 5 levels help children age 3 to 5 learn to love the water through games and activities. Swimmers that complete the fifth level and move onto the Swimmer program are able to bypass Swimmer 1. We have developed our own program for those who have completed Preschool 5, but are not yet old enough to enter the swimmer program, called Preschool Plus. Check it out!

Swimmer 1 – 6

The Swimmer program is for children age 6 to 12. In this program, swimmers achieve greater success in each of the 6 levels. When skills in the Swimmer program are complete, the next challenge is the Canadian Swim Patrol program. As always, we welcome your questions and feedback! For more information on our programs, please contact the Aquatics Centre at 403-938-8055.
