Hwy 16 Lavoy is a peaceful hamlet located just 15 km east of Vegreville.

Located one hour and 15 minutes east of Edmonton and one hour west of Lloydminster, Innisfree is perfect for a day-trip or weekend retreat. More than 100 years strong, Innisfree is a community-driven village rich with history and pride. Innisfree was first named Delnorte, and was a bustling trading centre in the early 1900s. In 1911, the community's name was changed to Innisfree at the request of the President of the Bank of Commerce, who promised a bank branch if the community underwent the name change.

ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS Treat mom on Mother’s Day with a delicious pancake breakfast in Lavoy. Join them on July 1 for their big Canada Day Celebration, which offers fun for the whole family. Lavoy is located near one of the most scenic viewpoints on the Yellowhead Highway. Akasu is an historical site encompassing both Akasu Lake and Akasu Hill. The Hill was a rest stop for native tribes. Akasu is the Cree Indian word meaning "sick". It is believed the name originates from natives who got sick drinking the water from the lake and the hill was where they came to perish. Akasu (Sickman Hill) is the highest geodetic elevation on the Yellowhead Highway between Edmonton and Winnipeg, Manitoba (2500 ft. above sea level). SHOP Lavoy is a popular stop on the Go East Antique Tour - you’ll be amazed by what you will find at Lavoy Antiques & Collectibles! (See ad page 17). Stop at Skyline Greenhouse for fresh grown tomatoes, peppers and more.

ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS Innisfree is home to the Cut Bank Penguin, Ernie. Ernie was given to the village by the Hollywood production team of the movie Cut Bank, which was filmed in Innisfree and starred Liam Hemsworth, Billy Bob Thornton and John Malkovich. Come by and see the Cut Bank Sheriff Station and Steeley's Garage. For a lesson in history visit the Prairie Bank of Commerce Museum in the village (see the CREAM Museum tour on page 21). Check out some of the events during summer including the Innisfree Fishing Derby in July and Innisfree Fair on August 14, 2019.

Ranfurly, a small but quaint hamlet within Minburn County is located 20 minutes east of Vegreville on Highway 16.
