Hairy Hill is located 95 km northeast of Edmonton just off Highway 45. Hairy Hill is now home to a bison statue, taking its place among Alberta’s great roadside attractions. Hairy Hill was named by settlers who found the hills covered in bison hair shed by the herds. In the 1900s when the Canadian Pacific Railway laid its tracks they found all the hair on the large hills and the hamlet had its name. Tourists can now see the bison statue and a historical information plaque on mainstreet near the Post Office. Don’t miss the popular Hairy Hill Rodeo in July, with Trick Riding both days! Go to www.GoEastofEdmonton.com/PrizeGiveaways for a chance to win Hairy Hill Rodeo passes!

Twelve minutes west of Hairy Hill on Highway 45, lies the Hamlet of Willingdon. Visit the World's Largest Lapel Pin, located at the Tourist Park Campground, right along Highway 45. The campground is complete with full service sites, flush toilets, and showers. Nearby, the arena and agricultural grounds are popular during the year for cattle and horse shows.
