Tour de Scottsdale Volunteer Opportunities Approximately 150 volunteers are needed to successfully operate this annual event. Those who choose to volunteer for this exciting race will receive a “Volunteer” technical sport shirt, an invitation to the pre-race Launch Party hosted by Fleming’s on Market Street, and breakfast and lunch on the day of the event. Aid Stations Aid Station volunteers keep our cyclists refreshed and energized. There are currently five (5) Aid Stations located along the 70-mile course. Each Aid Station requires a minimum of eight (8) volunteers to operate. Shifts Vary. Job Details Yell “water” or “Gatorade” as the athletes ride through Pick up trash left behind by athletes Remix Gatorade as it gets low Remain in your assigned position until sweep comes through Empty containers of liquid and fold table down at end of race
Course Marshals Course Marshals are essential to safety at the beginning of the 70-mile course and during the Family Fun Ride. A minimum of fifteen (15) volunteers are needed for this position. Shifts vary. Job Details Block designated driveway from vehicles exiting during time cyclists are on course Watch for traffic as the cyclists pass and STOP any vehicles from proceeding Block driveways from vehicles exiting during the Family Fun Ride
Parking Parking attendants contribute to an on-time event! A minimum of twelve (12) volunteers are needed for this position. Job Details Direct cars to designated parking areas Block drives so traffic flows in a specified manner Block lots that are full and direct flow of traffic to overflow parking areas
Start/Finish Rovers Start/Finish Rovers keep the event on track. A minimum of twenty (20) volunteers are need for this position. Shifts Vary. Job Description Direct cyclists where to enter chute based on their levels Direct Pro-cyclists to Thompson Peak Parkway start line Keep spectators out of start area by keeping barricades closed off Provide information about where to get pre-race water and supplements Provide information about Expo location and bike racks Give out medals to all numbered cyclists that cross finish line Monitor expo area keeping it clean and answering questions
