“green” marketing responsible habits for the environment DCSLU – DIGITAL CONNECTION ST. LUCIA INC, a leading advertising company of digital marketing and social networking, announce the public release of Green Marketing, a service already heralded by reviewers as a “must have” for businesses seeking to survive and thrive in this new, greener era. Headed by Managing Director Syreeta Tu-Ché Alceé and the staff of DCSLU, we have developed a strategy, which will save business owners lots of money and valuable time while exerting their social and environmental responsibility. The DCSLU package is a comprehensive way to demonstrates how green

businesses can reduce costs, enhance productivity, improve communication, increase value, and contribute to a healthier natural environment. What is green marketing? Green marketing also refers to the process of commercial marketing digitally via Digital Billboard, Online Marketing and digital advertisements all packaged in an environmentally friendly way. The Green Campaign promotes digital advertising to companies that have implemented specific green practices and experienced the benefits and encourage more companies to do the same, providing a resourceful method of marketing right here in St. Lucia. DCSLU also illustrate opportunities to leverage the latest technology to green an organization’s overall business capacity. DCSLU’s creative approach ensures that ‘green’ means ‘profitable’. “’Green is Good’ may very well be our business mantra for 2010, but it also takes a commitment from commercial houses to exercise a social responsibility

and best practices. Green Marketing draws on the experience of successful green companies to craft a practical resource for helping companies relate to specific actions – big and small – that can improve the bottom line while enabling our partners to better serve their stakeholders, customers, communities and natural environment. DCSLU has been highly commended by several corporate leaders and continue to work hard to maintain such. Everywhere you turn, there’s talk about the environment and how businesses need to be socially responsible to minimize their impact on the environment. Finally, the earth we take so much from is going to be getting some payback. So, can a business lower its negative impact, grow and think green all at once? YES The Solution: Differentiation + Branding + Sustainability + Digital Advertising + Green Ideas

think green...

ell, because it’s the right thing to do! —eventually every company will be required to conduct business in an environmentally responsible way. So why not do the right thing now instead of waiting? Why not keep up with the competition? —maybe even beat them to the punch —by becoming the company that partners with DITAL CONNECTION Think of the minimal costs that you will pay for an environmentally responsible service. A recent survey has shown that digital advertising has taken the lead in the market place. Green your product, services and your company. Here are 5 painless ways to be an environmentally friendly company and cut unnecessary costs at the same time.

1 Switch to Compact Fluorescent Bulbs Those spiral-looking bulbs might look funny but they work: releasing less CO2 into the air and keep more green in your pocket.

3 Recycle Does everyone in your office recycle? Do they know how to recycle properly? You can place recycle boxes for paper, plastics, and glass. Maybe you’ll want a friendly reminder posted near your recycle area: “never rush recycling…its serious business… have a nice day”.

4 Organize a team cleanup Who said you have to sit behind a desk all day – get your team together and organize a once-a-month clean-up event in your community as we have done in the community of Sans Souci. It could also be good publicity for your business. Get some company t-shirts— a good turn could provide good returns.

5 Turn off monitors and printers If everyone shuts off their monitors and computers, before calling it a night, you would save a lot of energy and reduce your electricity bill … but it’s easy to forget sometimes – that’s why it might be a good idea to appoint someone to check before leaving the office. Energy Saving Officer – it would be their responsibility to make sure, monitors, computers and printers are shut off.

6 Employee mugs

2 Print less Before printing a document, ask yourself whether you really need it printed or you can get by reading it online. Less paper consumption means less waste and less cash wasted.

The bottom line is this – less waste, better for the environment, better for your bottom line. Get all your employees their own personal mugs or have them bring their own from home – this way, less plastic cups are used.

ver since she emerged on the musical scene Claudia Edwards has been making waves as one of St Lucia’s hottest-sensational female vocalist. With the fitting sobriquet—Claudia the Diva—this songstress continues to draw attention and arouse sex appeal with her eloquent performances.

Claudia began performing as a teenager and took the spotlight as a lead choir singer. By age 14, she hooked up as the lead vocalist with the Magic Circle Express and Tricepts performing gigs at the hotel circuit. As a young girl, she yearned for an appearance on the main stage of the St Lucia Jazz and this year was like a dream come true, with starlet is destined to move up the charts with her distinctive vocal ability. Claudia made a big impression performing for the first time at the main stage St Lucia Jazz, satisfying all expectations that the organizers had placed in her. Also, this year Claudia released her latest CD “Mic Check” and the music video to “Hey Boy”. The twelve-track CD album contains a blend of smooth R&B tunes, and her versatility extends to songs like “Tonite”, a Zouk-love selection written and produced by Derrick Yarde of DYP fame and featuring Michel Henderson of Dominica. Another hot number on the track is “Bad Girl”, featuring Jamaican Dancehall King Beenie Man. Claudia maintains a keen interest in her career development and has undertaken voice training courses in New Jersey; as well as being well versed in the French language. This latter development has enabled her to gain employment as an Ambassador to the French islands, working for a local hotel group. SIR Dunstan St. Omer

fter blazing the trail as a pioneer for arts development in St Lucia and the region, painter/artist extraordinaire—Sir Dunstan St Omer— was honored with a knighthood, earlier this year. Sir Dunstan is one of the most celebrated St Lucian artist, deserving his place

Rose Mural in Monchy and Figure of Christ in Fond St. Jacques and the popular Madonnas’. among such local greats as Hon Derek Walcott, Harry Simmons, Roderick Walcott, Sir Arthur Lewis, Marie Sessene Descartes and a host of others. On his 80th birthday, Sir Dunstan, was duly recognized and was duly honored as a St Lucian icon, and the added distinction of St Lucia’s-3rd National Cultural Hero was preferred upon him. He has received several previous accolades, and his most famous murals rank amongst his best paintings. They are scattered across the land providing vivid and refreshing reflections of St Lucian and by extension, West Indian oral traditions, lifestyle and heritage. The masterly crafted murals can be located at the Holy Family in Jacqmel,La

Nonetheless, his “crowning glory” stands out with the design of St Lucia’s national flag, to celebrate the island’s Independence in 1979. For his magnificent works and contribution to arts and culture he received several other wards including: the nation’s highest national award, the St. Lucia Cross, in 2004, Last year he was honored with a Doctor of Letters Degree from the University of the West Indies. Sir Dunstan’s broke down the colonial boundaries to instill a truly authentic black man pride and identity seen through his unique style to express his paintings, called Prismism by long-time friend Derek Walcott. He reveals thought provoking consciousness through the depictions of a black Christ, Black Madonnas and for sheer ingenuity to paint everyday faces of the St. Lucian folks and community life into his pieces. Born in 1927, Sir Dunstan attended the St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Boys’ School and later graduated from St. Mary’s College. In that era

where young men sought for greener pastures, Sir Dunstan ventured to Curacao where he was employed with the Dutch Oil company. Upon his return to St Lucia Sir Dunstan utilized his literary ability to serve as editor of the Voice Newspaper. In addition to his undying love affair with arts, Sir Dunstan has provided yeoman service as an art instructor as serves as mentor to several young and aspiring artist, not the least are his sons that had followed in his footsteps. The humbled artisan is a man influenced by his divine faith and well- cultured who maintains that balance between religion, art and his family. This love affair transcends deeper as it relates to the real life that he shares with his wife Dame Christine. Their teen-age love-affair is story of resilience and beating the odds through hardships to begot ten sons and three daughters, Alwyn and Luigi are the more accomplished younger painters from the St Omer clan. Monsignor Patrick Anthony, author and folklore activist is from the younger generation of art enthusiasts influenced by Sir Dunstan’s work. Anthony has launched the book

“Dunstan St. Omer, The Man and His Work” as a means to educate the masses about St. Omer and also to document his life and his work. The book is a memento deserving to be distributed among schools to inform this generation about the island’s culture as it evolves. The artist says his achievements serve as a testimony that hard work and dedication are important.

“I do hope this serves as an inspiration to other St. Lucians who start from the beginning, working class, never got to university but nevertheless, try to give meaning to their lives,” Sir Dunstan said. Sir Dunstan’s work is chronicled throughout the length and breadth of the Caribbean, and was awarded for his contribution towards the development of the visual arts.

his latest collection: “elemental: new and selected poems 1975-2007”. (Peepal Tree Press Ltd, 2008)

Nahdjla Carasco Bailey pens a review of Lee’s “elemental: new and selected poems.” Here we present excerpts from that piece: In the lives of accomplished practitioners of the arts-whether singers, authors, poets or painters who have acquired a following through the years and achieved some acknowledged measure of visibility and success, there arrives a self-proclaiming juncture. This is a moment when a collection of their best virtually launches itself. Robert Lee’s latest collection “elemental: new and selected poems” must surely represent for him one such –albeit unstated-moment.

ohn Robert Lee is a seasoned professional poet and literature scholar who is revered in high esteem among his Caribbean contemporaries. In 2008, Lee was honored for his remarkable works and the likes of Kendall Hippolyte and Adrian Augier, two accomplished local poets, commended the writer for his brilliant

literary skills. This Saint Lucian writer delves into the wider social spectrum as broadcaster, teacher, bible preacher, library professional, amateur photographer; and also identifies as a Christian Writer. He has published several l books of poetry, with

The 1992 Nobel Laureate for Literature, Hon Derek Walcott, had this to say: “Robert Lee has been a scrupulous poet; that’s the biggest virtue he has, and it’s not a common virtue in poets, to be scrupulous and modest in the best sense, not to go for the grandiose. He is a Christian poet obviously. You don’t get in the poetry anything that is, in a sense, preachy or self-advertising in terms of morality. He is a fine poet.” I see Lee, the Christian poet, as an awakener. “The poet’s business is not to save the soul of man but to make it worth saving.” (Flecker). Lee’s central involvement with an incarnating Lord allows him to be able to do just that for his readers. He encounters his Maker almost everywhere, in myriad

relationships with a variety of folks and his photographer’s reading of them. While his poems cannot be classed as didactic, his quiet voice is yet strong and convincing, even when clearly in search of answers. His lines are poetry throughout and cannot be characterized, a’ la Landor, as “sinking and swooning under a moderate weight of prose.”

There is also Lee of the keen eye, making familiar things new and new things familiar, just as he ought to. This is often evident in his inclination for exposing topical events, issues and concerns-for chronicling social history really- through autobiographical narration, which works.

The book looks good( the striking cover illustration ‘elemental man’ is painted by the poet’s son), and as with such collections, the impact of having

places, sees Him in myriad ways in almost everything, and skillfully and unobtrusively awakens us to varying degrees of that consciousness and admission. Lee demystifies, actualizes and personifies the Spirit God, externalizing Him and giving Him substance, so that readers are able to connect with his essence made manifest.

Another of Lee’s penchants is that of writing for, or dedicating several of his poems to, individuals and couples (and some readers just may be cynical about the frequency of this practice). Incidentally, even Jesus himself is not spared-nor is Bob Marley, for that matter. But the poet has Coleridge squarely on his side when the latter declares: “A poem is not necessarily obscure because it does not aim to be popular. It is enough if a work be perspicuous to those for whom it is written.” And I guess I might add, “…or to whom it is dedicated.” Generally, one can say that Lee is a busy poet, committed to the practice of his craft. He appears to gleam much inspiration from his

selected pieces abide together in one anthology is always pleasing and satisfying, both for working with, as well as for pure back-to-back enjoyment.

workshop from an early age, and quite delightedly admits to gaining his first earnings as an apprentice, working alongside his brothers and other young apprentices. Added to this, Jalim’s frequent travels to regional and international countries have provided him with vast knowledge and experience about the art world. “Every time I travel, I come back strengthened with new ideas, knowledge of style and purpose,” he declared. “Purpose is essential to be motivated as an artiste…” As a young man with high self-esteem and guided principles, Jalim values attending exhibitions, and where he has represented St Lucia on some overseas assignments. He said exhibitions contribute to networking with other artistes globally and was not meant to always gain monetary rewards. “It is good a way to find out what’s happening and to relate to other artistes,” he said. He is privileged to have traveled to different parts of the art globe, covering Africa, Grenada and several trips to Martinique, concluding with his most recent trip to China. Jalim made his first overseas trip in 2001, to Ottawa, Canada, where he represented St Lucia at the Francophone Games, to display his creations. At the next event four years later, in Niger, Africa, he again made the trip to exhibit his works. “I really opened up to the international

alim Eudovic has carved out his own niche market as a young gifted sculptor. The son of St Lucia’s most famous sculptor, Joseph Eudovic, this young artist has traversed many boundaries in his pursuit for excellence. Nonetheless, he has surpassed expectations and though not duly recognized at home, he continues to garner rave reviews for his unique creativity and artistic expressions at overseas exhibitions. “I have definitely come a long way and it has been steady progression for me,” declared the young Eudovic confidently. From his early infant and primary school days at the Methodist School, Jalim’s love for art was

evident. His school teachers frequently requested the young artiste to draw paintings and posters, not only for his school, but for other schools in the inner city circuit. His popularity increased and by the time he attended the St Mary’s College (SMC), Jalim had inculcated the yearning desire to become a professional artist. Moreso, on the verge of graduating from SMC at age 17, he made his initial debut competing at the then M&C Fine Arts Awards. He won first prize and for the next five years grabbed three gold and two silver medal awards at the event. Jalim began working at his father’s

art world and saw a variety of works and mingled with several artistes,” he said, reflecting on the positive impact this has had on his career development. In his upbringing, the young Jalim was fortunate to have been in the company of such reputed artistes like Sir Dunstan St Omer, Derek Walcott and others that frequented his dad’s Goodland’s studio, and cherishes the euphoria captured at these moments.

noticed some Chinese artiste were handling. He had gained previous knowledge of bronze sculpture work by surfing the net and felt confident enough to take on the challenge. The Chinese approved his proposal and Jalim went to create a monumental piece within six weeks. The Chinese were so

impressed with his work that they contracted him to create another piece within the remaining time, which he successfully completed. He proudly boasts that this piece stands erect at the cultural park with the St Lucian flag flying prominently aloft the artistic designs.

He is also fond of his strong cultural orientation, as the senior Eudovic’s home was a “Commercial Mecca” for cultural displays involving local culture groups like La Rose, La Marguerite, Bella Conte and others. In 2008, Jalim was commissioned by the Chinese government to do a monumental piece for the China Urban Sculpture Museum. This latter episode exposes an intriguing facet into the young artiste’s sojourn and his mammoth accomplishments. He was given two months to put out a huge piece, but since there was not sufficient log wood to complete the art work; Jalim took a bold by immersing in the art of bronze sculpture that he

What is Reflexology?

eflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, reflexology may be as effective for promoting good health and for preventing illness as it may be for relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and illness. Reflexologists work from maps of predefined pressure points that are located on the hands and feet. These pressure points are reputed to connect directly through the nervous system and affect the bodily organs and glands. The reflexologist manipulates the pressure points according to specific techniques of reflexology therapy. By means

of this touching therapy, any part of the body that is the source of pain, illness, or potential debility can be strengthened through the application of pressure at the respective foot or hand location.

Benefits of Reflexology Stress Reduction When we are stressed our body’s defenses break down and we become more susceptible to illness and disease. Reflexology reduces stress by generating deep tranquil relaxation, helping the body balance itself and allowing healing energy to flow. Improved Circulation Blood needs to flow freely throughout the body carrying oxygen and nutrients to all the cells and removing the waste products of metabolism and other toxins. By reducing stress and tension, reflexology allows the cardiovascular vessels to conduct the flow of blood naturally and easily. Stimulated Nerve Function By stimulating more than 7,000 nerves in

the feet, reflexology encourages the opening and clearing of neural pathways. It interrupts pain pathways, reducing pain. Improved Immune System Reflexology stimulates the lymphatic system thus reducing risk of infection. It cleanses the body of toxins and impurities and also stimulates the production of endorphins, leading to an improved immune system and sense of well-being. veryone knows that it feels nice to get a pedicure. Getting some extra time spent on pampering the toes and legs is always welcomed. Even the polished toenails look wonderful and make you feel so pleased with yourself. There are also physical benefits to getting a pedicure on a regular schedule. While your manicurist/pedicurist is working on your feet, they are doing more than just playing with your toes. By removing the dead skin and calluses with either pumice, or other implements, your pedicurist is helping to improve the appearance as well as your comfort. Having calluses on your feet can cause uneven pressure when you walk or stand that can also lead to the pain you feel when on your feet all day. Many pedicurists also use foot reflexology while giving pedicures. This helps stimulate the blood flow to the feet and legs and provides the relaxation you feel when someone is massaging. The massage in a pedicure or manicure is one of the most important parts. Massaging certain spots on someone’s foot sends signals to other parts of the body to encourage overall health improvement anywhere in the body.

urve for men by Liz Claiborne is a vivacious, affordable and a high quality cologne. After its initial release in 1996, I was happily one of the first customers to add this new fragrance to my collection. On an average I usually go through a bottle of Curve annually, which leads me to my most recent purchase on February 10, 2010. The 4.2 oz spray bottle was on sale, and included a Valentines gift set I simply could not resist. Curve for men contains a total of nine rich scents which include; bergamot, clove, lavender, vetiver, musk, lime, citrus, sandalwood and cedar. This wholesome mixture creates a classic scent that can be worn anytime day or night. It has been suggested that this is a daytime fragrance because of its lightheartedness, and spritzy feel, but if you want to embrace the carefree mood this cologne imparts I definetly recommend it for evening wear as well.

The first scent impressions of this cologne after it is sprayed to the skin are lavender, clove and bergamot. Lavender is an extremely popular Mediterranean scent used in a variety of colognes including Claiborne Bora Bora, Nautica Latitude Longitude, and even Calvin Klein Eternity. Although each fragrance is unique, distinct and different, I think it is important to note how this low-growing evergreen plant with a pale purple flowering top is so widely used amongst colognes. The other notable top notes clove cultivates the sweet-spicy aroma and bergamot serves as an excellent fixative prolonging the continuity of the cologne when sprayed on the body.

to five years time I could showcase you as leading young entrepreneurs with an eye on the future of business and the business of the future,” said the young CEO. The five, whose projects were chosen out of dozens by an independent panel of judges, were also encouraged by Gen X Coordinator Rashree “Navita” Jarbandon to “have confidence in yourselves” and to “manage your funds and your businesses efficiently.” Those about to embark on their youth enterprise development projects were also assured by the Gen X Coordinating Committee that this is not the end of their journey, as contact will be maintained with them as they build their respective ventures.

he five winners of the first Gen X Awards have started their journey into the whole wide world of youth enterprise. On 21st April 2010, they collected the funds required to take their projects to the next stage, having satisfied the judges they were ready to start -- and good to go! The five winners – Syreeta“Tu-Che”Alceé, Sharleen Lagon, Desi Verdant, Sherlyn Louis and Lee Joseph – were handed their individual cheques by CEO of the RG Group of Companies, Mr Rayneau Gajadhar. Mr Gajadhar told them he saw the $50,000 he contributed to the project “as an investment and not as an expense.” He urged the recipients to “strive to be successful so you can encourage others in the way I was encouraged” when he first got into the business of doing business.

The successful applicants were also updated on various options for training and mentoring, business registration and development, as well as referrals to other agencies with which Gen X has developed bilateral relations.

It will not be easy, you will have to make sacrifices, but you are trend-setters and I would have succeeded if in three

Mr Gajadhar indicated that it was not the end of the road either for those applicants who were not successful in the

First Phase of the Gen X program, as they will now be able to improve their project proposals and apply for the Second Phase. The RG Group CEO also indicated that in the Second Phase of Gen X, “much emphasis will be placed on the young school-leavers.” He said he’d begun a series of Motivational Lectures at Secondary Schools that have already been held at Bocage, Gros Islet and Anse Ger. Speaking on behalf of her fellow winners, Sherlyn Louis thanked Mr Gajadhar and the Gen X team for the opportunity to create what they will strive to ensure are successful and sustainable businesses. The winners were announced at the 1st Gen X Awards Ceremony, held on the evening of 10th April 2010 at the Gros Islet Secondary School. The feature address was delivered by Mr Gajadhar and there were also remarks by Prime Minister Stephenson King. The Guest Speaker was Country manager of First Caribbean international Bank Mauricia Thomas-Francis, who spoke on “The Critical Path To Success”. E.Bousquet

Success Stories

t’s, a whole new decade. This is the best time to be presented with a system that will enhance your well being, spiritually, physically, financially and socially. In recognition of the times in which we live, it seems necessary to establish and affirm our spiritual beliefs. Recent events must have led many to conclude that there is a higher power and we are not responsible for ourselves. We depend on the Miracles which are bestowed upon us every passing day. In spite many may claim that we are living in the worst of times, it is still a great time to be alive. Let us be thankful for the gift of life and commit ourselves to making this world a better place. This magazine is being launched at an interesting juncture of our development. In the past year we learned not to rely on institutions regardless of how formidable they may seem. We witness the melt down of the global financial system and the devastation of Haiti. While all the problems and helplessness surround us, there will always be those who demonstrate a degree of confidence and you ask the question – how is this possible? It is popularly acclaimed that Readers are Leaders and Knowledge is Power! You have also heard that you have to be in the right place at the right time to receive your miracle. The other half of the story has not been told – that you must be in the right frame of mind to receive abundance! I take this opportunity to introduce to you a principle that can be a powerful source in your life. It is the power of AFFIRMA-

EDWARD A. HARRIS TION! Over the years there have been many versions of its application. Affirmation is a positive statement of assertion which gives you confidence that your Miracle is assured. Everyone who attends

church knows about Philippians – Chapter 4: Verse 13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me!” Affirmation helps to remove the negative forces from your life and welcomes the posi-

tive forces. It provides you with a new Mind Set that will bring about a new Attitude which will equip you with wings to achieve your true Altitude in life. It all begins with your mind. It was Napoleon Hill who provided in his book – Think and Grow Rich, a real definition of the function of the mind – “Whatever the Mind of Man can Conceive and Believe, it can be Achieved”. This book is a must read for anyone who is fed up with being mediocre and needs to step up to the next level. Another great book is “The Power of Affirmation” by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. There is much written on the subject of AFFIRMATION which should cause an active mind to enquire into this unique principle. Dr. Denis Waitley promotes the Power of Self Talk. If you believe it, you have to confess it with the spoken word. This is very much the same in applying Affirmation. The steps are as follows Make a list of all the negative things in your life Convert those negative things into positive statements Add positive statements of the goals you wish to achieve to item 2

Upon waking up in the morning and going to bed at night, say your positive statements aloud. (This method emphasizes the

power of the spoken word). Select one of the positive statements from your list each day and write it down a minimum of 21 times. (This method emphasizes the power of committing your thoughts to writing them down) Go out into the world and receive your daily miracles. Your attractive force goes to work for you and opportunities/miracles will begin to come your way. It is as simple as that. Visit my website at www. The principle of the SECRET is to BELIEVE – ASK – RECEIVE!!! You can find many related stories posted on my archive at Here is my motivational pick for you. You don’t need an explanation for everything. Recognize that there are such things as miracles, events for which there are no explanations. Later, knowledge may explain those events away.

The fact that you plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another’s, smile at someone and receive a smile in return are common miracles. Your duty to yourself is to believe that for which you have sufficient evidence, and to suspend your judgement when you have not. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Some things have to be believed to be seen. Vision is the art of seeing invisible things © 2009 In parting, I encourage you to read every day. Have an abundant 2010! You now have the key to prosperity – Open the door!

HIGHLIGHT The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 runs BlackBerry OS so aside from the aforementioned updated user interface, you also get new functionality and improved applications. For example, unlike the Curve 8300 series, you can now edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, thanks to the inclusion of DataViz’s Documents to Go Suite.

PANASONIC 42” FLAT SCREEN TV Panasonic takes on its heaviest title bouts, this year, since proving to be the hardest-punching heavyweight among plasma-TV makers. The Panasonic TH-42PX50U is reasonably attractive and unobtrusive. With the speakers mounted below the screen rather than on the left and right sides, this panel’s footprint is smaller than most. A black bezel surrounds the screen—something we’re happy to see a lot more of, since black around the screen adds to the perceived contrast ratio of the picture and aids in improving real-world performance. The legs and the speaker grille below the screen are finished in silver.

CANON IP2600 The Pixma iP2600 is Canon’s inkjet photo printer for users on a budget. Replacing the Pixma iP1800 as its entry-level, straightforward printer with limited features. As expected in a baseline product, the iP2600 lacks a PictBridge port and a memory card slot but makes up for it with a sleek design, competitive print speeds, and bold, crisp prints. The photos themselves are also incredibly easy to crop, repair, and alter using the included Easy-PhotoPrint EX software bundle. Overall, you’ll find that this is a cost-effective printer for text documents and amateur-level photo printing.

Like the Bold and the Storm, only the Standard Edition is preloaded on the smartphone so if you want the ability to create new documents, you will have to upgrade to the Premium Edition. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 also ships with a number of personal information management tools, such as a Calendar, a task list, a memo pad, a voice recorder, a calculator, a password keeper, and more. There’s quite a catalog of applications available for BlackBerrys, whether you’re looking for new games or software for your job. Be aware, however, that if you have third-party applications on an older BlackBerry model, they may not be compatible with the Curve 8900. .

XBOX 360 ELITE It seems like a very long time since I reviewed the Xbox 360. Microsoft did very well to bring its console to market so long before both Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii, and since Sony chose to delay the PS3 launch in Europe, the X360 stole a 16 month march on its archrival. But despite the long wait for the PlayStation 3, it did bring with it some significant advances for high definition gaming. Now Microsoft is hitting back with an update to its already impressive console, in the shape of the Xbox 360 Elite. So, what differentiates the Elite from the X360 that’s been on sale for almost two years? The Elite possesses a certain understated, even stealthy design characteristic. Yes, the gloss black PS3 maintains the more striking of the two, but it’s also a dust and fingerprint magnet. But the matte finish of the Elite suffers no such woes, while the silver detailing of the DVD tray and the hard drive has far more visual impact when surrounded by black rather than white.

5 Home Deco Tips Great Dining Theme

hen family and friends gather over a routine meal or a special occasion, the dining room becomes the center of attention. Focus on de-clutter, paint, fabric and lighting. The dining room is a place where guests enjoy relaxing meals so free the room from things that do not relate to the room’s purpose. Simply stated, a dining table, chairs and server/buffet create a perfect foundation. Paint the room a color that has sophistication and depth. Add beautiful window treatments, there are many retailers that offer beautiful readymade panels and drapery hardware on the island, you can reupholster seat cushions. The average chair only requires a half a yard of fabric. Look in the remnants section of a fabric store to find fabulous finds at a discount price.

Kitchen Islands Theme

Remodeling Your Bathroom

dd extra work space and decorative interest to your kitchen by installing an island. The kitchen island can be as simple as a small table or as elaborate as a custom-build, electrified, plumbed, tiled cooking center. Find ideas for how to add an island to your kitchen and see photos of great islands. It seems as though families are getting smaller and at the same time, kitchens are getting bigger. Designers are using industrial appliances, state-of-the-art cabinets and countertop materials, and including a kitchen island whenever possible. A kitchen island looks beautiful in most settings and adds work space, storage area, and room for additional appliances.

he smallest room in your home will undoubtedly require the largest number of professionals to remodel. A plumber, tiller, electrician, flooring installer, painter and cabinet installer will be called on to transform your bathroom unless you’re terribly talented, handy, and patient. If you see the bathroom as strictly utilitarian, you may choose to do a superficial cosmetic redecorating job. But if you’re adventuresome, this smallest room in your home can showcase the design of your wildest creativity. Colors or patterns you’d be afraid to use in another room can shine in this private area. And materials that would be prohibitively expensive in a larger area will fit into the bath budget. The necessities of a bathroom include sink, toilet, tub and shower. Everything else is frosting on the cake. But sometimes the frosting is the best part!

5 Home Deco Tips

Add A Warm Welcome to

your Living Room

our living room creates a lasting impression for all who enter. It tells your family and guests if you’re formal and elegant or fun-loving and laid-back. It sets the mood for the home and should be a reflection of the owner’s personal taste. A living room can be arranged in many ways. For some, this space is formal and perfect at all times, to be entered and used only when guests come to call. To others, it serves as a comfortable family gathering place for watching TV, doing homework, or visiting. Some have a cozy nook for sipping tea and curling up with a book. A more casual family room style of living room has a character of nonchalance. While furniture and fabrics should be coordinated, there are few rules. Choices are governed by practicality. Furniture selection and placement is less structured. Seating around a TV is often necessary, with a table for casual eating. In today’s home, the living room may even have a computer center, so a desk may have a place of prominence. Whether your living room is serene and neutral, colorful and lively, or something in-between, it should reflect your taste.

My Private Retreat

f your life seems hectic and out of control, why not create a private retreat where you can go to unwind, read, and take sanctuary from outside intrusions? Without adding on to your house, you’ll be able to find a special spot that is yours alone. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how easy it is to escape without going anywhere. A private space doesn’t have to be small, but it does have to be furnished with your favorite things. If you long for a spot to curl up with a book, you must have a good reading light, a comfortable chair and footstool, a lush comforter or throw, and a place to set a chilly lemonade or cozy cup of tea. If your everyday dream is to lounge in a warm, foamy tub, put dimmers on the light fixtures in your bathroom, light loads of candles, and have music at hand. If you need a place to get away to do what you love, make it happen! Each individual has his or her own thoughts on what a private space should be.

What can we do to reduce crime & violence in our country? The yuts them days ignorant and stupid, because they go to school, and they eh learn nothing, so how they getting a good job? They don’t even want to work. They just want to stay by the road, shoot each other and do shat. They want fast money. Everything is fast money. Shane Serieux Way I see it is, the problem started long before these criminals were born, look at the civilizations before us, they became extinct because of violence. Man have a natural tendency to be violent. Man must change his mindset and stop living in a fantasy world, wake up and realize, we have to lift up each other and stop pulling down your brethren and your sistren, love one and other, because hurting somebody to move up in life will get you nowhere. LOVE is the answer. Anonymous The leaders need to create more jobs more opportunities because people are frustrated, they looking for a way out and those who give up turn to crime. Better school system more recreational and sporting activities. Anonymous An Ecumenical Rally could be organized and spearheaded by the Ecumenical Council of St. Lucia. Catholics living in each village should organize to have the dawn Rosary and Procession around the villages.
