Nicole Montecalvo and Jaclyn Auletta had a vision. The two innovative women, and the respective owners of NE Occasion Event Styling and Design and Jaclyn Auletta Photography, assembled a dream team of vendors who could help them combine two elements that typically don’t go together. They descended upon The Green Building in Brooklyn with the goal of incorporating elegant pieces into a simultaneously rustic and urban setting to craft a styled shoot that would showcase the marvels of a winter wedding. With some help from In The Garden, Maggie's Bake Shoppe, Bits & Pieces, Kelly from Melissa D'Aloia & Co., Rebecca Schoneveld, Vintage Rentals and Trunk Vintage Rentals, the shoot turned out fabulously. “Styled shoots are an excellent way to show potential clients what a professional planner is capable of achieving,” Montecalvo said. “Bridesto-be who have an idea in their head about a themed wedding but aren’t sure which direction to go in can see our portfolio and it will just click. The Green Building is a raw space venue where everything must be brought in for the event. This gives the design team full-range to showcase its creativity. With brick-faced walls, chandeliers and a high open ceiling, the possibilities were endless. NE Occasion took a “less is more” approach in deciding on the color palette—eventually opting for dark green, gold and ivory. Gold sequin accents added instant glamour to the shoot, while the candlelight around the natural birch arbor evoked a feeling of warmth and romance.
