Outline Scope of the Ballymore Project

The best option for Ballymore is for a multi-sport precinct that will provide opportunity to attract multiple sources of funding from different sports that collectively can benefit. This funding can therefore be used to establish and operate an enhanced range of facilities. A multi-purpose sport precinct includes sporting fields, gym, pool, and supportive

infrastructure such as accommodation, food and beverage outlets and conference rooms. A multi-purpose sport precinct also provides the opportunity to co-locate other facilities such as sports science and medicine. The core asset is a HPT unit with playing fields for the sports that use the facilities as well as supportive infrastructure. This multi-purpose facility will attract elite supporting teams both nationally and touring sides, providing a “Train-Play-Stay” location.

Positive economic flow-on: The construction phase of Ballymore will generate approximately 220 equivalent full time jobs over the life of the project construction.

the broader Brisbane economy of an additional $25 + million per annum on top of the initial cost of construction.

Key to success: The key to success in developing and maintaining a multi-purpose sports precinct at Ballymore is through staging potential partnerships with sporting bodies.

There is the potential to generate additional sources of revenue for Ballymore such as attracting touring sporting teams and athletes. For example the International Rugby Board has recently allocated $69.5 million in global incentives to strengthen rugby. Approximately half this amount is to go to second tier rugby nations like Fiji, Samoa and Tonga for new international competitions and the creation of high
