TotApp™ is a software program for top-class multimedia presentations using touch and multi-touch systems. TotApp™ is the first professional multi-touch program that is completely customizable featured with a simple and intuitive administration panel. It enables the creation of navigation pathways at many levels, with both horizontal and vertical visuals so that it can be used for shop windows, totems, interactive desks, touch monitors and more besideAs, giving users the opportunity to view images, videos, pdf files, web-sites, html files and external programs. The Spot function enables the viewing and planning of multimedia elements. This means that TotApp™ can be installed in mixed interactive/digital signage systems – and is therefore unique on the market. Thanks to the administration panel of TotApp™, you can simply and rapidly configure, replicate and import in various locations the presentation you have just made. Direct experience in the field has helped us to set up and to fine-tune a program with the right characteristics for the professional market; interactive communication has been made emotional and involving, simpler and tailored to users’ needs. It can be used by professionals in the sector, but is also extremely easy to use and intuitive for end users who can simply and rapidly produce multimedia touch and multi-touch presentations.

After downloading the “DEMO” version from the www.to-tapp.com site, double click to launch the installation wizard. The setup is complete when the TotApp™ icon appears on the desktop and in the list of programs installed in the TotApp™ item. The Demo version is not restricted compared to the registered one, except for the presence of “DEMO” watermarks visible during the viewer mode. The DEMO version is an excellent way to learn about the application and it can also be used to create presentations on PCs that are different to the ones on which the presentations will then be installed and run. REGISTERED VERSION: Three versions of TotApp™ are available, each offering a more or less complete use of the program. •

TotApp™ DS: this version is exclusively for digital signage such as adverti sing, ticker tape, spots.

TotApp™ Standard: this includes all the features of the DS version plus playlist, language, and it is designed for multi-touch experience.

TotApp™ Professional: this has all the functions featured in the standard version plus Wayfinder function.

The Export function is for transferring the whole publication into a “.px” extension file called “default”. This exported file can be stored in an external unit either as an effective backup file of the work or just to carry it around on an external support drive. The ‘…/default.px’ file is therefore a single compressed file containing all the multimedia contents and all the settings. By clicking the Export button, the user will receive a request by TotApp™ for the unit and folder in which the export file has to be created. The Import function is used to import a previously exported file. By clicking on the Import button, you will be asked to point where the ‘default.px’ file you want to import is contained. If you would like to plan the Import function automatically, click on Auto Import and you will be asked to enter the time (with a maximum of three daily time slots) and the pathway where the presentation you need to import is contained. You can also choose to enable or disable this function. You can choose two different kind of import and export. The normal type will create a single file containing the entire presentation, including their configurations. The incremental one, instead, will create a folder containing all the files and configurations uncompressed and browsable. During further exports using this modality, only the changes will be applied, leaving untouched the other files. The incremental export is efficient in presence of either low-speed internet connection or very large group of files IMPORTANT: when providing the pathway where the presentation will be automatically imported, using the Auto Import function, the name of the ‘…/default.px’ presentation file must be supplied along with the file extension “.px”. You can see your creations anytime, just by clicking the Viewer button placed on the top right corner in the Application configuration page. Once in the Viewer mode you can experience how the end-user will interact with the software. Again, to return to the Application configurator, use the ctrl+e shortcut. TotApp™ will ask for the password only the first time you access the configuration page. Stat enable allows playlist data collection, such as the number of clicks or taps for each playlist or multimedia content. User name and password of your cloud module are requested. Safe mode lets TotApp™ lunch in a safer environment by killing explorer.exe process and by adding a timer, that will restart TotApp in case of crashes. To disable this function simply uncheck the box, close the cmd window and restart explorer.exe. CLOUD MODULE The cloud module allows the administrator to monitor in real-time the status of every single device registered in the portal. For each device, it will display main information like: name, viewer mode running/stopped, last import date, software version and other parameters on user’s discretion. In order to have the best set-up for the Cloud module, you can regroup your devices and create lower users. Another important TotApp™ Cloud module’s function is that you can obtain statistics from the end-users, such us number of visualizations for each playlist, and all the information gathered by using the form element (see chapter Playlist).

REGISTERED VERSION To activate the REGISTERED version, click on the UNLOCK button situated in the CONFIG area. A code will be displayed composed of four alphanumeric sections, which must be provided after buying the product. We will then send you an email containing the activation code key.

IMPORTANT: the activation code key is strictly associated to the PC from which you provide the unique code; for this reason it will be possible to use it only on the PC which TotApp™ has been installed on. To transfer a license to another PC, please contact the retailer.

USER’S MANUAL - PLAYIST

25

One of the main functions in TotApp™ Standard is made up by the playlists: these are the main elements on which the interactive multi-touch presentation is based. The most widely used graphic formats can be inserted, including: JPEG, PNG, PDF, videos in MP4 format using codec h264 (for a better experience in TotApp™ we recommend this video format), FLV, F4V, MOV, SWF, URL addresses and RSS feeds.

This sets the orientation to display the contents, based on the monitor orientation. You can set after how many seconds the program will return to the first level of playlists (home delay) in Viewer mode. It is also possible to choose which visualization style to use to display the playlists (space type). • • • • •

Linear: classic visualization characterized by a linear sliding of the icons; Chaos: the playlist icons are placed scattered on the background; Bubble: the playlist icons will be moving following the user’s touches; when elements collide there is a bounce-off effect. Grid: grid-structured visualization of the playlists. Showcase: every playlist and file will be framed in a black or white border, and an indicator will show how many item are contained.

You can choose a different visualization style for each playlist. Click the edit button to continue with the playlist editor.

Default background sets the background picture for all of the playlists, in the case you don’t specify a different one. With Help menu and Help back you can set pictures to use as advice or hint during the first content browsing. You first have to import multimedia files into the content library, in order to drag & drop them into a playlist.

Import multi-media elements such as pictures or videos or any file types previously listed, to the “Library”. To load the contents, first select the file type you want in the “Library” then click on the + button and import the desired file or group of files. The + button placed in the playlist area is for creating a new playlist. Click on the button and enter the name when prompted. Once the contents are imported, select them one at a time with a single click, and when highlighted in a blue colour, drag it into the playlist contents area by clicking on the preview image of the file. You can also insert playlists inside other playlists in order to set up a navigation tree logic. To remove an item, select it and drag it onto the bin icon. A playist needs at least 2 basic elements to be created: an icon that will represent it and a content that will be shown once that that playlist will be selected in the viewer mode. Additional customization for a playlist, consists of assigning a background, a custom visualization style and an expiration date. The background will be different from the default one, and will only affect that particular playlist. Custom visualization styles are the same as those listed in ‘Default space type’ option (linear, chaos, bubble, grid, showcase) except for the Hotpoint. The Hot Point, recently introduced, allow the user to arrange playlists and contents to his discretion upon the background. They will be neither displayed following a preassigned pattern (see Linear, Grid, Showcase) nor completely random on the background (Chaos, Bubble). In order to use the Hotpoint visualization style, you have to assign a background for that playlist. Once Hotpoint is selected, you can edit it by clicking on the gearwheel icon. On the left side there will be listed all of the elements the playlist contains, that will be then arranged upon the background, using the drag and drop gesture. Once you finish editing, click on “End edit” button in the upper right corner.

USER’S MANUAL - PLAYLIST

MULTIMEDIA FILES DETAILS: The hardware installed on the PC must be proportionate to the quality of pictures and video used. PICTURES: we suggest using pictures intended for monitors that match specific parameters, avoiding therefore files used for prints and websites. A typical picture has PNG or JPEG extension, pixel dimensions same or lower than the monitor’s and a resolution not higher than 72 pixel per inch. VIDEO: pixel dimensions must be the same or lower than the monitor’s and a 5000KB/s bitrate. PDF: it is essential that their pixel dimensions are the same as the monitor’s. Lower or bigger elements will have to be converted, considering the max PPI value of 72. EXE: you can link an external software by adding its .exe file. Its related files must be included in the local store, accessible by the edit space folder utility in the Workspaces menu. GAME: 3 kind of games, which graphic assets are completely customizable. WEBCAM: if there is a webcam available on the PC, you can manage this element in your playlists. You can either shoot pictures or record videos that will be locally stored. WAYFINDER: you can insert a wayfinder you previously created. URL: manage webpages with the possibility to block the browsing to specific domains. SOCIAL: TotApp manages Facebook pages and Twitter profiles, too. You can choose how many posts are being displayed in the page. FORM: the form element is composed by different kind of fields such as text, email, telephone number, checkbox or multi selection.

The first step you need to do is to provide a name for the form you are creating.

USER’S MANUAL - PLAYLIST

29

In the CONTENT menu you can manage the fields that compose the form. By clicking on the + button you have to insert the field’s name as well its kind. In order to collect the data provided through the form, you need TotApp’s cloud module.

In the CONFIGURATION menu can choose whether to save those data by turning on the function, or not. Insert then your cloud module user ID and click check. You can choose to send e-mail with any details and multimedia files directly to subscribers. After submission, the form can bring the user to a specific playlist or file. You can assign this element by dragging & dropping it onto the Open playlist content box.
