Celebrating 300 Years of Tenuta Torciano Tenuta Torciano includes 15 generations of winemakers who have been able to give life to high quality wines, where the knowledge of traditional methods is combined with modern technologies. The art of wine making is something that has been handed down from father to son, an important heritage that today represents the secret of our success. The Giachi family has been engaged in the production of wine for hundreds of years, since 1720. Bartolomeo Giachi, from Florence, settled in the territory of San Gimignano, everywhere known as a land of high-quality grapes. Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and other grapes, with a deep ruby red tending to garnet with age. The bouquet is round, complete and elegant, with a dry, full and smooth flavor. The vintage 2014 was presented with a hot summer but throughout the year temperatures were maintained regular, with important rains in the month of May and June. Also, in the month of September, in Tuscany, have occurred of thunderstorms, creating discomfort during the step of harvesting the grapes but helping to make an overall great wines.

The first release of our Terrestre, a line of Super-Tuscan wines tied to the great terroirs of our region, turned out to be a fantastic success. But, more encouraging to us were the impressions of the people who tasted the wine during the visits in my cellar. Their comments, the amazement I could read in their eyes while they sipped it, were the confirmation we are going in the right direction.

So we have doubled our efforts to produce an exciting Terrestre from the famous Montalcino Area. Pure Sangiovese from the stronghold of Brunello. A challenge? Yes, absolutely. And we think we have another winner for your pleausure. In the 1970s, Tuscan wine producers began to experiment with foreign grape varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. By combining these with the Sangiovese grape, they created Super Tuscan wines. So with this great 2014 vintage of Terrestre we have crafted a small batch of the very best Sangiovese from our vineyards for your pleasure and as a tribute to our forefathers and their devotion to this soil.
