A few months ago this editorial described how I had packed up my apartment ready to move despite not having anywhere to move to! Well I’m delighted to announce that the exercise worked and magic happened, regardless of whether or not I decide to take the opportunity. A couple of weeks back I met one of my editing book clients. She asked me if I had found anywhere to move yet and I shook my head feeling slightly frustrated that the Universe still hadn’t answered my request. My client looked at me. “Well,” she said. “How would you like to housesit for us? We’re moving to Bahrain and you can live there for free for as long as you like, plus we’ll cover all the bills and even pay you each day to look after our cat.” Suddenly the world stopped spinning. I glanced from her to her husband and then back again, thinking that any second one of them would say, “Only kidding.” But neither of them did. Instead they told me all about their beautiful villa in the countryside of Malaga, which has its own pool and a lovely conservatory and office. My heart thumped harder in my chest and my palms began to sweat as I realised they were being completely serious. Two days later I was on my way to check out this ‘miracle offering.’ I did get a little lost finding it (normal for me and my not-so-hot navigation skills) but finally I pulled up outside an electronic gate which opened to reveal a delightful house with an inviting swimming pool in the garden. The door opened to a courtyard leading into the spacious lounge. I was shown around the two en-suite bedrooms, the conservatory, the office, the kitchen… and by now I was literally jumping up and down with sheer excitement.

So, with all that said, and if everything goes to plan, I’ll be moving in at the beginning of September. It took just three months for the Universe to find me somewhere to live. Apart from
