November…the month of fireworks, cooked chestnuts, golden leaves falling off the trees, the very beginnings of winter in Spain, my Birthday… and probably also my ‘birth-day’ in the sense of our new baby entering the world! My due date is November 15th, but of course at this stage baby may come at any time, and could even end up being born in October. Either way, it looks like it’s star sign will be either Libra or Scorpio. There are already quite a few Scorpios (water signs) in my family, including me, which is why I tend to resonate and flow best with them! There’s my niece, Charli (Kami and Tony’s daughter who many of you reading this will know), my late Nan on my Dad’s side, and then my late Grandad on my Mum’s side. So far we have the 6th, the 10th and the 18th covered, so it will be interesting to see what date baby chooses to make his / her grand arrival into the world! November is also the month before Christmas and it’s when I prefer to get all my Christmas shopping done, way in advance of the big day. I’m not sure how much shopping I’ll manage this year with a newborn to look after, but I have three Christmas stockings to make up for starters!

Everyone keeps telling my husband and I to make sure we get lots of sleep now as we won’t get much when the baby arrives. If I hear that once more I think I’m going to be the one screaming! But I’m taking the advice onboard and making up for the probable lack of sleep

Strange News now, as most nights I get at least nine hours of shut eye. And of course, we’re praying for a peaceful baby that sleeps through the night...!

Booming Business A FORMER call centre worker who set up a brothel yards from the local police station made half a million pounds in just three years, a court has heard. Mark Cass handed out timesheets to the Thai callgirls so they could keep track of their busy schedules and he bought condoms in bulk online. Cass even registered his business - the Thai Exotic massage parlour - with Darlington Borough Council and his six staff, aged between 26 and 36, earned enough money to send sizeable sums home to their families. The thriving trade netted him an average of £166,000 a year while bobbies in Darlington went about their business at the station 200 yards away - completely oblivious to Cass's vice den. He even made the brothel a family business by paying his brother £300 weekly as manager of the girls and was so open about what he was doing because he didn't realise he was breaking the law. His operation was rumbled by immigration officials and undercover police officers were eventually drafted in, discovering the girls were charging for sex. Cass was jailed for a year for living off the proceeds of prostitution but now police are trying to seize assets they believe were earned from his days as a brothelkeeper. A Lucky Doggie A dog left alone in a pickup truck had to be rescued after it knocked the vehicle into gear, sending it into a Maine lake. Ellsworth Police say the Yorkshire Terrier's owner put his pet into the pickup after an encounter with a larger dog. As he spoke to the other dog's owner, the Chevrolet Silverado began rolling downhill. He could only watch helplessly as his pickup careened 75ft (22 metres) into Branch Lake. The Silverado bounced off a rock before sinking in 10ft of water. Police say a family friend swam into the lake and saved the trapped dog.A towing company pulled out the truck, and the dog was uninjured.

Firework Facts Here are some fun facts about what goes into lighting up the skies. 1. There’s some debate around just how early fireworks were discovered but we do know that they were invented in China sometime between 200 BC and 900 AD. Fireworks have been used to mark important celebrations and festivals since and today, China is the largest fireworks manufacturer and exporter in the world. 2. Fireworks have come a long way from those early days when they contained just three ingredients: saltpetre, sulphur, and charcoal.

makes yellow, and barium makes green. 5. Firework sounds can also be determined by different chemical combinations within the tubes. For example, cylindrical tubes create whistling sounds, aluminum flakes make hissing noises, and flash powder is responsible for the big, loud “booms.” 6. Americans love their fireworks. According to the American Pyrotechnics Association, U.S. consumers purchased 163.6 million pounds of fireworks last year alone and fireworks displays used another 23.1 million pounds.

3. Italian merchant and traveller Marco Polo is believed to have brought fireworks from China to Europe around the year 1295, starting the global spread of the sparkling invention.

7. Walt Disney World may just love fireworks the most. The resort consumes the largest amount of fireworks in the U.S. per year, thanks to nightly fireworks displays over the Magic Kingdom.

4. China may have invented fireworks but in 1830, Italy gave them colour. Bright colours are created when burning different metallic powders within fireworks tubes. For example, calcium produces the colour orange, sodium

8. Canadians love them, too. The Canadian National Fireworks Association claims that the amount of fireworks imported into Canada increased by about 800 percent over a 10 year span (from 2001 to 2011).

Old Phrases And Their Meanings 1. "Cold turkey" Definition: Refers to the physical state addicts are in when withdrawing from drug addition, especially heroin. Their blood is directed to the internal organs, leaving their skin white and goose bumpy like a Thanksgiving bird ready to go in the oven. Mmmmm, junkie turkey. Origin: The first usage of this phrase is unknown, but it has as many applications as there are things to be addicted to. Use it in a sentence: After coming down with a strange illness that turned his eye-whites blue, Ozzy had to go cold turkey from biting the heads off live bats or any other animals. 2. "going Dutch" Definition: To evenly split the cost of a group expense, like a meal. Origin: The origin of the phrase is unknown, but there is one explanation. In the 17th century, the Dutch were hated commercial rivals of the British, and have been a verbal target for

them since. Anyone who "went Dutch" may have been considered a tightwad. Not surprisingly, the Dutch don't seem to love this phrase. Use it in a sentence: The last girl I went out with called me a superior patriarchal misogynist who didn't respect her independence just because I offered to pick up the tab. So last night I decided I'd play it safe and suggested to my date that we go Dutch. She called me a cheap b******! 4. "Put a sock in it" Definition: A terse request to be quiet. Origin: Since early gramophones had no volume control knobs, playing them at anything less than 11 required putting a sock in the amplification trumpet. Use it in a sentence: girl: "Why are you hesitating? You don't like it, do you? You think it makes me look fat, right? Oh, I knew this would happen. I should never have gotten an orange leather..." guy: "Ah, put a sock in it."

interesting Facts - Throughout history, many powerful empires have laid claim to Iraq, including the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Arabs and Ottomans. The oldest known writing system developed in Iraq around 3200 B.C. Known as cuneiform, it used about 600 signs instead of an alphabet. Each sign stood for a word or a syllable. Ancient Iraq was the birthplace of some of the world’s most important inventions, such as the 60-second minute and the 60-minute hour, the wheel, writing, the first accurate calendar, the first maps, and the first schools. After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire during World War I, Great Britain took control of the Mesopotamia area and renamed the country Iraq. Approximately half of Iraq is covered by inhospitable desert. Researchers claim that most Irish and Britons can trace their roots to Iraq and Syria.

What did you do with them?” “Oh that was easy, I charged one and let the other off.” Q: Why don’t they have fireworks at Euro Disney? What Is Remembrance Day? Remembrance Day is a memorial day which takes place every year so that countries in the Commonwealth can remember members of the armed forces who have lost their lives serving their country When is Remembrance Day? Remembrance Day is always 11th November (11/11). It was on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, that combat in World War 1 came to an end in 1918. Remembrance Day has been observed since 1919. Why do we wear poppies on Remembrance Day? The poppy was one of the first flowers to bloom on the battlefields of Flanders during World War 1. Their bright red colour symbolised the blood shed during the horrific conflict, but also the hope of new life, and the poppy became the symbol of Remembrance Day. The Remembrance Poppy has been used as a symbol since 1920. Today, poppies are worn on clothing in the days leading up to Remembrance Day, and poppy wreaths are placed on war memorials. This is why Remembrance Day is often known as Poppy Day. In the UK, poppies can be bought from The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The money raised goes to help veterans of the armed services. What is Remembrance Sunday? Remembrance Sunday is always the second Sunday in November, the Sunday closest to Remembrance Day (Armistice Day). Many ceremonies are held across the UK to remember

those who gave their lives during World War 1, World War 2 and later conflicts. The National Service of Remembrance takes place on Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph (war memorial) at Whitehall, London. The Queen lays a wreath and other tributes are also placed. The event is televised. A two minute silence is traditionally held at 11 o’clock on both Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday. Why do we have Remembrance Day? Remembrance Day is an opportunity to pay respect and honour to those who lost their lives serving their country. It also gives the public a chance to remember family and friends who lost their lives fighting in wars. Finally, it gives people a chance to consider the cost of war. Why do some people wear white poppies or purple poppies? White poppies are worn by pacifists (those people who oppose all conflict and war) as a way of promoting peace. Purple poppies are produced by a charity called Animal Aid and remind people that animals also lose their lives during wars.

Please mention The Sentinella when responding to adverts El Borge

El Borge (pronounced El Bor hay) strictly speaking should come under B but as there are no villages beginning with E in the Axarquia I thought El Borge could be the one. The history of El Borge is dominated by the rebellious nature of its early inhabitants. The most infamous being El Bizco, the one eyed bandit of Borge, who´s house of birth is now a museum, hotel and restaurant, proving just how proud the village is of its sinful son! The Posada del Bandolero has on display in its dining room a collection of paintings and drawings donated by some leading local artists, illustrating the life of the bandit. El Bizco was born on September, 2nd in 1837 and later became one of the most bloodthirsty and famous outlaws of Malaga. He died in Lucena on 21st, May 1889 when he ran into the Guardia Civil who were formed to deal with the many bandoleros who ruled the mountain passes. El Bizco was not the first bandit to come a cropper against the Guardia on horseback and one such man was even granted a pardon and went on to serve in the Guardia himself, fighting others of his kind until the final bandolero was killed in 1934, 90 years after the Guardia was first formed. At the entrance to the village is an archway containing the images of two other famous residents, Martín Vázquez Ciruela a seventeenth century theologian and Abdalallah ben Atimad, a botanist who supposedly introduced the lemon tree to the area from the middle east in

1200. A cobbled street leads down past the Fuente de la Vendimia where a bronze statue of a local man proudly bearing a basket on his head brimming with newly harvested grapes, reminds us of the town’s economy which is based on the production of raisins. In fact in the middle of September thousands of people gather in the village from far afield for the Festival of the Raisin, where they receive samples of fresh grapes and wine with paella and migas and then merrily compete in a circular dance called danza de la rueda. Viewing the village from afar, the most predominant building is the gothic-renaissance parish church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario with its huge tower and belfry. The construction was commissioned by Queen Isabella in the fifteenth century on the foundations of the former mosque. Not to be missed is the Ornithological and Botancial park of La Alcua, a lush and verdant oasis full of exotic plants, fountains and birds such as swans, peacocks, geese and pheasants. If walking up and down the narrow winding streets has worked up an appetite, there are several good bars and restaurants where you can rest and recuperate. In summer, the 25 metre municipal swimming pool is a good place to cool off and if you don´t like the water you can just watch the action from the shade of the restaurant overlooking the gardens. To get to El Borge you can leave the motorway at Torre del Benagalbon and drive up the winding road past Benagalbon, Moclinejo and Almáchar and then turn left after the bridge or from Vélez-Málaga you follow signs for Benamocarra, turn right after the petrol station and continue up the winding road to Almáchar and up again to El Borge.

Redwell Infrared Heating Systems Redwell infrared heating Systems 10 years in Spain! The energy saving, healthy and stylish heating solutions from Redwell have convinced hundreds of clients on the Costa del Sol and in other parts of Spain over the last 10 years. The Austrian manufacturer has been developing efficient and energy saving heating systems for more than 15 years. Continuous research, in co-operation with universities, guarantees an outstanding product quality and the latest technology. The Infrared Heaters from Redwell offer the highest quality in unique designs - and they come with 7.5 years vendor warranty! Redwell-heaters are efficient and produce healthy heat In comparison with conventional heaters, infrared waves don’t heat the air, but do heat people, walls and furniture. You absorb the heating waves which makes you feel nice and cosy. Walls and furniture store the heat much

longer than air, and then release it back into the living space. In this way, the walls remain dry and mould has no chance to spread. Another advantage is that the air does not circulate, therefore no dust is lifted up into the air. Rheumatoid and asthmatic patients and allergy sufferers benefit greatly! RedwellÂŽ infrared heaters offer the best benefits: Energy savings, high comfort, healthy indoor environment and NO maintenance costs! Contact us or visit the exhibition in our shop! El Valle Completes It’s 100th Walk El Valle’s centenary walk took place on Thursday 1st October when 41 of us undertook the three-hour walk from Chilches to Malaga via Rincon de La Victoria, Cala del Moral, the cement factory, El Palo and Pedregalego The sight of such a large crowd waiting on the prom prior to kick-off attracted the attention of a representative from the Ayuntamiento who enquired as to our purpose. When reassured that we were weren’t about to stage a demo or claim refugee status he was happy to dismiss us as just another mad bunch of Brits and off we went. The route, which was between 15 and 18 kilometres (depending on whose iPhone was telling the truth), took us along part of the disused rail track that ran from 1908 to 1968 carrying passengers and goods along the coast. The sandy beaches, white Jurassic limestone cliffs and Moorish watch towers provided a stunning backdrop for anyone who wasn’t too busy talking to notice their surroundings while the surviving tunnels gave us some shade along the way. The shared pedestrian and cy-

cling trails caused several near misses and the no-lock municipal loos ensured that the ladies didn’t linger longer than necessary during bathroom breaks. At our half-time coffee/beer break at al Palo we spread ourselves over several bars while a brave accordion player unsuccessfully tried to drown out our chatter. We set off again with everyone going at their own pace but all 41 arrived safely at the restaurant at 3pm for the menu del dia. In spite of Elaine and Stewart’s impeccable organisation, the restaurant staff were unprepared for our arrival as there was a mix -up over the reservation. To their credit they quickly rustled up two large tables, which filled the entire inside space, and provided us with a very good meal. Extra booze provided by El Valle to commemorate the auspicious occasion and complimentary cava from the restaurant ensured that everyone left happy, in spite of aching feet, ready to take in the shops or stop off for ice cream or coffee before bussing it back to the cars. Asbestos - Have You Been In Contact?

My name is Steve Woods and I am a solicitor based in Chester, UK, specialising in claims for asbestos related diseases. I have been dealing with these claims for over 25 years and I aim to provide a professional but personal service. I often visit people in Spain and I have recently been to Competa, Benalmadena and Torremolinos. We all know that as we get older we can develop breathing problems. These problems can have a variety of causes but after investigations, such as x-rays or scans, problems with shortness of breath can be attributed to exposure to asbestos. These investigations can show whether lung damage has been caused by smoking or exposure to asbestos – this can cause very serious illnesses: asbestosis, diffuse pleural thickening and mesothelioma (a cancer that attacks the protective linings of the lungs). It is not only workmen who have used asbestos themselves who develop these diseases but also other men working in their vicinity or wives and other family members who come into contact with their work clothes. It does not matter if the person involved has died, claims are still possible in certain circumstances. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with an asbestos related condition or has breathing problems and has come into contact with asbestos in the UK please get in touch. You may be entitled to claim damages or benefits in the UK and I can help on a no win no fee basis. A change in the rules now enables a solicitor to agree with his client to take

a share of any money recovered. A lot of solicitors now do this but I do not because I believe that my clients should receive whatever compensation I can obtain for them in full. I can also guarantee that all claims are dealt with by a qualified solicitor. I am happy to talk to anyone free of charge about their individual situation to see if a claim is possible. I can be contacted on 0044 1244 340560 at or alternatively you can visit my website at

Until 22! The story of Oana.... On April 29, I was going to work as usual at 12 noon. There was a nervous feeling in the air, and I felt something was happening, but I never thought that I was to be laid off. I didn't know what to say or what to feel – whether I was happy or sad; I just took my last bit of money. I tried to drink a glass of wine but I couldn't…I don't drink alcohol! On my way back home, I was thinking “What now? No job, no money”...I was disappointed. I had to find something and I did, though. I found new clients for cleaning and I started to earn more money than I ha in the bar. I thought, "I will never work in a bar again!” Then one day my phone rang and I saw the number. I couldn't believe it... I grabbed the phone and touched the green button. I heard some magic words. " Hi sweetheart, do you

have a job? Or do you want to come back to the bar?" Oh yes, I thought. They want me to go back. "Yes, I’d love to,” I said. I’d missed my customers so much – all the people there. “Yes I will come back,” I said. The first day was great. I saw all the customers I'd missed and things started to be normal again. I still continued with my cleaning work and added on the hours from the bar. I didn’t have a day off all summer, but that wasn't a problem for me, as I’d come to Spain to work. But the time never comes back. I miss my family so much but it’s not long now until I will be with them; I have to charge my batteries with love – family love. Autumn is here now. The trees have started to change their colour, the kids have started school and the bar has changed owners: new people, new ideas, new job...I feel like going home now! We've bought the tickets for Romania today. We've rented a car and just can't wait. We are counting the days, the hours, till I see them. Now my life has started to show me new parts of my personality and I think I've started the process of being mature. I'm glad that here in Spain I've met people who have changed my life. Life is like that – from everyone who comes in, we have a lesson to learn and every one of us has a ladder to climb. It is up to us how we do it!

Cars, offices, patio doors, glass curtains and we can put the tint film into a roll down or vertical blind for occasional use. In fact: If it’s glass we’ll tint it! For more information contact: 958 496 571 / 644 546 176

When I look back at what I've done in a year, I'm happy, because I never gave up as I had done in every dream till now. My motto in life? "Life is a journey, with problems to solve, lessons to learn – but most of all, experience to enjoy!" Keep smiling and see you all in Legends! Trambitasu Oana Maria

Recipe Of The Month - Spicy Potato Wraps These tasty wraps are a great way to use up any leftover potatoes, but they work particularly well with boiled or baked spuds.

7. For the spicy potatoes, in a dry pan, toast your whole spices, heating them gently until they begin to release their aroma.

ingredients - For the tortillas 200g/7oz plain white spelt flour 2 tsp rapeseed oil ½ tsp salt flour, for dusting

8. Remove from the heat and lightly crush them in a pestle and mortar or a spice grinder. Once ground down to a coarse mixture, add the smoked paprika and a little salt.

For the spicy potatoes 1 tsp coriander seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp fennel seeds 2 tsp smoked paprika salt 1 tbsp light olive oil 2 baked potatoes, cut into chunks 1 chilli, chopped ½ red onion, thinly sliced 2 cloves garlic, chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped 1 sprig fresh coriander 1 sprig fresh mint ½ lime, juice only To garnish few handfuls salad leaves cheddar cheese to taste, grated 150g/5 fl oz natural yoghurt

9. Heat a frying pan big enough to hold all your potato, add the oil and begin frying the potato pieces. 10. Once they start to brown, add the spice mix, chopped chilli (as much or as little as you like), onion and garlic and cook for a few minutes until the onion softens; you may need to add a little more oil. 11. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and roughly chop the mint and coriander. Squeeze the lime over the potatoes and remove the pan from the heat. 12. To serve put the potatoes onto the tortillas and top with herbs. Sprinkle with grated cheese, yoghurt and salad leaves.

Preparation method 1. For the tortillas, in a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients along with 150g/5floz cold water to form a smooth dough. Knead the dough for 1-2 minutes. (Don’t work it for a more than a minute or two as it’s easier to roll out with less kneading at this stage.) 2. Once the dough is smooth, cover the bowl with cling film and leave to rest for five minutes. 3. Place a large, non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. 4. Break the dough into golf-ball sized pieces and dust with a little extra flour, then roll out into rounds about the thickness of a 5p piece. 5. Place a dough round in the hot, dry pan and wait until it starts to puff up before turning it overand cooking for the same time on the other side. 6. Again, they will puff up. Press them down with a spatula and cook until they are browned in spots and cooked through. Remove from the pan and place on a plate. Repeat the process until you have used all the dough.

La Vaqueria Benamargosa Just at the upper edge of Benamargosa, as the "pueblo" starts to change into "campo" you will find La Vaqueria; an arts and craft centre converted from the original dairy of the village Nestling on the side of the "arroyo" you can just glimpse the brick coloured building through the huge mature avocado trees in the garden, hanging over the blue wall, which offer shade to diners in the summer and fruit for the shop during the winter. Although Benamargosa is still a major avocado producing village, recent years have seen more and more of the hillsides terraced and planted with mangoes. It is now estimated that there are over 100,000 trees within the village limits, with each hectare of mature trees (5-10 yrs old) producing approx 50,000 kilos. Benamargosa should be supplying local fruit mar-

kets with 500 tonnes of mangoes in the next 3 years. Needless to say we serve lots of delicious mango recipes during the season and have fresh organic avocados for sale this month. Our new daily menu with all day breakfasts, lunches and snacks is now available during all opening hours. Sunday has the ever popular Sunday Brunch Buffet and allthough I hate to mention Christmas so early we do have tickets on sale for the Christmas Carvery/Buffet and lots of new stock, mosaics and class vouchers for great present ideas. Cleaner fish provide a service to other fish species by removing dead skin and ectoparasites from their bodies, thus providing major health benefits. There are more than 500 different species of wrasse found in the shallower coastal waters and coral reefs of the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans. Wrasse most commonly inhabit areas that have an abundance of both food and places to hide, making coral reefs and rocky shores the perfect home for them.

692 300 396

The best known cleaner fish are the cleaner wrasses of the genus Labroides, found on coral reefs in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. These small fish maintain so-called cleaning stations where other fish, known as ‘clients’, congregate to benefit from the ‘service’. Cleaning stations are occupied by different units of cleaner wrasses, such as a group of youths, a pair of adults, or a group of females accompanied by a dominant male. When their clients come near the cleaning stations, the cleaner wrasses greet them by performing a dance-like motion in which they move their rear up and down. It is thought these potential predators recognise the cleaner fish by the particular ‘dance’ they perform and also a distinctive, gradually widening black band along the length of their body. Remarkably, these small cleaner fish safely clean large predatory fish that would otherwise eat them.

To advertise call 664 210 468 or email

Amazing Marine Life (Continued) While they derive the majority of their nutrients by removing ectoparasites, cleaner fish also feed on the mucus and tissue of the client fish, as these food sources have greater nutritional value. There is however a risk of terminating the cleaning interaction if the cleaner is too aggressive, taking too much mucus and tissue. Because of this, cleaners seek a balance in

feeding between ectoparasites and mucus or tissue. These cleaner fish may even clean the inside of larger fish’s mouths and gills. Bluestreak cleaner wrasses have both male and female sex organs, with the females ones developing first. There is usually only one male in a group. A female can develop into a male in less than three weeks, for example if the dominant male in a group dies or disappears. In one day, the bluestreak cleaner wrasse can treat up to 300 ‘clients’ They grow to a length of around 11 - 14cm. The normally live for between five and 10 years, but if they should happen to ‘bite’ the host, the end for them is usually quick…. and painful!

Helping Axarquia Monthly Update Town councils may reduce Property Tax IBI for buildings with better energy performance classification by up to 20 per cent! The Ministry of Finance will allow town councils to reduce the property tax IBI for the most energy-efficient buildings by up to 20 per cent. This measure will come into force on the January 1st 2016 for an indefinite term. To benefit from this reduction, property owners must provide town councils with their energy performance certificate. The most energy-efficient buildings will have a higher reduction while the less-efficient – or not classified ones – will have a lower one or no reduction at all. Those with a higher energy performance classification (“A”) will be the ones who benefit the most. The introduced scale also predicts that buildings with “B” classification may have a reduction of up to 16 per cent and those with “C” classification, up to 12 per cent. Buildings with “D” classification may benefit from a reduction

of up to 8 per cent and those with an “E” classification by up to 4 per cent. Buildings with “F” or “G” energy performance classification – or without any energy performance certificate – may not benefit from any reduction at all. Voice battle NEW BBC TV ‘The Voice’ coaches Boy George and Paloma Faith have clashed four months before the show is screened. George did not pull any punches when he laid into his fellow judge during filming of blind auditions in Manchester. Pop star Paloma, 34, thought it would be funny to pretend she had fallen asleep when George was trying to persuade a wannabe to join his team. However George, 54, lashed out: “You’re a disgrace! Who are you? One hit in America doesn’t make you a star. I’ve sold over 150million records.” Paloma fled the studio in tears and filming over-ran until 1am the next morning. She is now officially the oldest ever cover war of FHM, at the age of 48 now beating her fellow Baywatch babe, 42-year-old Carmen Electra, who posed for the lads’ mag just last year. Pam has posed up a storm on countless magazine covers during her 25 years in showbiz, but this was a special moment for the actress. The bombshell wears nothing but a bed sheet in the new shoot and teases that she has "a lot" of stamina. The accompanying interview sees the mother-of-two reminiscing back to her wild days at the Playboy parties. Pamela revealed: "It was a very sexy time. It was all wild, but respectful. The men were elegant, and you wanted so badly to get the most charismatic man to notice you. "Girls were everywhere, giggling and laughing. "People have begged me for details, but a kissand-tell is not my style. I will say, I've never been with someone I'm not madly in love with, willingly…but I do fall in love easily." The actress is best known for her five years playing C.J Parker on Baywatch in the 90s. And despite recently slamming plans to remake the TV show into a movie, she did admit she still has that famous red swimsuit.

Designer Moss SUPERMODEL Kate Moss has become a posh interior designer. She has already worked as a fashion designer and actress as well as being one of the most famous models in the world. Now Kate, 41, has made her mark on a luxury holiday home developers’ woodland retreat in the Cotswolds. The £2.5million pad, named The Barnhouse, is described as a “retreat away from the bright lights of the city and catwalk scene”. It features a double height living room, five large bedrooms, a huge outdoor entertaining deck, pool, large retractable doors and even artwork featuring Kate. And, set within 650 acres of English countryside including six lakes, the house is 90 minutes’ drive from London. Kate is apparently worth £55 million but is still looking for extra jobs.

Random Joke :) Jane and Arlene are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts it over her cigarette, and continues smoking. Arlene: What in the hell is that? Jane: A condom. This way my cigarette doesn't get wet. Arlene: Where did you get it? Jane: You can get them at any pharmacy. The next day, Arlene hobbles herself into the local pharmacy and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms. The pharmacist, obviously embarrassed, looks at her kind of strangely (she is, after all, over 80 years of age), but very delicately asks what size, texture, brand of condom she prefers. 'Doesn't matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel.' The pharmacist fainted.

& t i u Fr Facts ot Veg Beetro Beetroot is a very under-rated and underconsumed vegetable, with many benefits – not confined purely to health! This vibrant and colourful veggie, if consumed daily, would definitely add colour to our life too – it certainly beats purple Chanel lipstick! If you rubbed a slice of this on to the lips, the purple colour would stay for so long that you wouldn’t have to worry about re-applying! Beetroot contains the bio active agent betaine, which supports healthy liver function. When the liver is functioning properly, fats are broken down efficiently, aiding weight loss and preventing fatigue and nausea. Drinking beetroot juice boosts your stamina and could help you exercise for up to 16% longer. It is an excellent source of folic acid and also fibre, manganese and potassium. Beet greens and beetroot are a good source of phosphorus, magnesium, iron and vitamin B6. Beet fibre has been shown to have cholesterol lowering capabilities. Antioxidants: Betacyanin is the pigment that gives beetroot its colour, and has powerful antioxidant properties. Studies have demonstrated that red beet products used regularly in the diet may provide protection against certain oxidative stress-related disorders in humans. Preliminary tests suggest that beetroot ingestion can be one of the useful means of preventing lung and skin cancer. Other studies have shown that beet juice inhibits the formation of cancer causing compounds called nitrosamines. Beetroot is known as natural blood-building food.

Beet is also believed to be an aphrodisiac. It is rich in boron, which our body uses for manufacturing the sex hormone; this increases sexual desire. It is a good remedy for treating skin diseases. Boil beetroot pieces in some water and use this water for treating inflammation, pimples and boils on the skin. Or for your hair, make a decoction of beetroot and mix it with some vinegar, apply this on the scalp and this will help you to get rid of dandruff.

The Final Exam You have to love this teacher There were four sophomores taking chemistry and all of them had an 'A' so far. These four friends were so confident that the weekend before finals, they decided to visit some friends and have a big party. They had a great time but, after all the hearty partying, they slept all day Sunday and didn't make it back to Florida State until early Monday morning.

They quickly answered the first problem worth 5 points. Cool, they thought! Each one, in a separate room, thought this was going to be easy ... then they turned the page... On the second page was written... For 95 points: Which Tyre? _________

Rather than taking the final then, they decided that after the final they would explain to their professor why they missed it. They said that they visited friends but on the way back they had a flat tire. As a result, they missed the final. The professor agreed they could make up the final the next day. The guys were excited and relieved. They studied that night for the exam. The next day the professor placed them in separate rooms and gave them a test booklet.

People Who Come And Go People who come and go 12 - Lettie and Ton Art and creativity, alive and kicking in iznate! Lettie and Ton moved ‘lock, stock and barrel’ into their beautiful house on a hill above the whitewashed village of Iznate a year ago. An accomplished and much publicised artist and sculptor, Lettie Tax was determined to open a new chapter in her artistic career and Andalusia provided the perfect setting and a chance to discover a new and simpler way of life. One year on, Lettie is up and running!! Their house, a spacious, modern villa with far-reaching views over much of La Axarquía, has been transformed into a gallery of Lettie’s art and a base to offer art lessons and creative workshops. I asked Lettie about the move. “It was all about location for us. From our new

home I find daily inspiration in the countryside, the light and the whole feel of the place! I exhibit my sculptures in garden, our which works so well! And now I offering am weekly art classes and workshops.” “I want to establish myself here as an artist, and in the Summer months, we plan to travel in our camper van and exibit my work at art fetivals and in ceramic markets across Europe. It’s wonderful to have our home here in this beautiful place so it’s always a delight to come home!” To talk to Lettie about her art classes and workshops, contact her at, and to see her fabulous art, check out her website By Toni Waterman, Unspolit Andalusia

Staying Hydrated: Best Times of Day to Drink Water

Slow Down Mummy

water – The Elixir of Life We all know the health benefits of drinking the recommended amount of water everyday. While some of us are disciplined enough to hydrate our body regularly, the vast majority of us fail to replenish our water sources at the right time.

I love this - Slow down mummy, there is no need to rush, slow down mummy, what is all the fuss? Slow down mummy, make yourself a cup of tea. Slow down mummy, come and spend some time with me.

The infographic below will help you schedule your drinking patterns to avoid depleting or overloading your body water levels throughout the day.

Elisha Lang A Contestant On ‘Voz Kids’ Elisha was born in Northumberland UK and moved to Los Barrios in Spain at only two weeks old. She attended school in Gibraltar (St Josephs and now Westside comprehensive). Her mother, Claire, is Gibraltarianborn and although her father Scott was born in Portsmouth, he, too has a Gibraltarian background Elisha began performing on stage at the age of three, winning a contemporary dance (baby section) contest at the M.O Productions Dance competition in Gibraltar. Over the next six years, she went on to win many prizes, including gold and bronze medals at the International Dance Federation European dance championships in Hungary. At the age of nine, Elisha started to develop an amazing voice and after taking up singing lessons with Lilly Olivero, she entered a musical theatre section at the M.O Productions competition in Gibraltar, winning a gold in the junior section. She enjoyed singing on stage and a year later, she entered ‘Gibraltar's Got Talent’ and made it to the finals with her musical production of ‘On my own’ from ‘Les Miserables’. BcJI Elisha has been singing at charity events in Gibraltar all summer, including National Day and Summer Nights. Back in November, Elisha decided to enter ‘La Voz Kids’ as auditions had been announced. We sent an acapella video and were asked to take her up to Sevilla for the first casting. She was then sent to Madrid for two more auditions and was told in December that she had made it down to the 90 children selected by Tele cinco from 20,000 applicants. Four weeks ago we saw Elisha perform her blind audition where she sang ‘The Power of Love’ by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. She wowed the judges who all turned within seconds. David Bisbal jumped out of his chair, stroking his arms and saying that his hairs were standing on end. "Me has puesto los pelos de punta". Elisha picked Manuel Carrasco and joined his team of 15 contestants. On October 5, Elisha had her battle against another two girls, Aisha and Maria, singing 'Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, where again she wowed the judges and public alike. She was selected by Manuel Carrasco to go on to the next stage, the 'Sing Off’ two weeks later. Then the final five contestants from Manuel Car-

rasco's team will come on stage and sing their blind audition song again. Two will go through to the final. You can find Elisha's blind audition and battle on her Facebook page: Elisha Lang, Cantante/Singer La Voz Kids 2 EspañaArtist. Unfortunately Elisha was knocked out of the competition on 19th October and did not make it to the finals. However this is not the end for Elisha, infact it is ony the beginning. She will now use this as a platform for many other doors to open. Elisha has thoroughly enjoyed this experience and is not sad as she realises how lucky she was out of the initial 20,000 applicants. Well done Elisha from us all at The

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds… and remembers. Billed as a haunted-house horror movie, the apparitions represent the sins of the past, but they’re more tragic than terrifying. The scariest scenes of the movie appear early on, with diminishing thrills after that. Mia Wasikowska stars as American heiress Edith Cushing, an aspiring author who is described as “our very own Jane Austen.” While typing up one of her

stories at her wealthy industrialist father’s office, Edith meets Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), an English baronet who retains his ancestral title, if not the family fortune. Although she’s more fond of reading than dancing, Edith falls quickly for the romantic, penniless aristocrat, and he and his sister Lucille (Jessica Chastain) wriggle their way into the Cushings’ social circle. Soon, Thomas proposes to Edith and whisks her away to his ancestral home, Allerdale Hall, where she must contend with nightly visits from mournful ghosts as well as Lucille’s thin-lipped hatred. The attention to detail is consistently impressive, with period-accurate Victorian sets and jewel-toned lighting. The costumes in particular ought to attract awards-season attention, outfitting Wasikowska in white nightgowns that play up her porcelain-doll looks, and Chastain in sumptuous silk and elvet. The design of the house itself and its ghostly inhabitants is equally thoughtful. Star Rating: ****/*****

) : a h a Jokes h During his physical, the doctor asked the patient about his daily activity level, and so he described a typical day this way: "Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded along the edge of a lake, drank eight beers, escaped from wild dogs in the heavy brush, marched up and down several rocky hills, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quicksand, jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake and took four leaks behind big trees." Inspired by the story, the doctor said, "You must be one hell of an outdoors man!" "No," he replied, "I'm just a......... lousy golfer." ------------------------------------------------------------Wiremu, a New Zealander, was on the dole in Australia but about to fly home to watch the Rugby World Cup and was not feeling well, so he decided to see a doctor. "Hey doc, I dun't feel so good, ey!" said Wiremu. The doctor gave him a thorough examination and informed Wiremu that he had long existing and advanced prostate problems and that the only cure was testicular removal. "No way, doc," replied Wiremu. "I'm gitting a sicond opinion, ey!" The second Aussie doctor gave Wiremu the same diagnosis and also advised him that testicular removal was the only cure. Not surprisingly, he refused the treatment. Wiremu was devastated but with the Rugby World Cup just around the corner he found an ex-pat Kiwi doctor to get one last opinion from someone he could trust. The Kiwi doctor examined him and said: "Wiremu Cuzzy Bro, you huv Prostate suckness, ey." "What's the cure thin, doc?" asked Wiremu hoping for a different answer. "Wull, Wiremu", said the Kiwi doctor, "Wi're gonna huv to cut off your balls." "Phew, thunk god for thut!" said Wiremu, "those

Aussie bastards wanted to take my test tickets off me!" ------------------------------------------------------------The other day I went over to a nearby Pharmacy. When I got there, I went straight to the back of the store to where the Pharmacists’ Counter is located. I took out my little brown bottle along with a teaspoon and laid them both onto the counter. The pharmacist came over smiled and asked if he could help me. I said, "Yes! Could you please taste this for me?' Being I'm a senior citizen...I guess the Pharmacist just went along with me. He picked up the spoon and put a tiny bit of the liquid on his tongue and swilled it around. Then with a stomach-churning look on his face he spit it out on the floor and began coughing. When he finally was finished, I looked him right in the eye asked, “Now, does that taste sweet to you?" The pharmacist, shaking his head back and forth with a venomous look in his eyes yelled, “HECK NO!!!" So I said, "Oh thank God! That's a real relief! My doctor told me to get a pharmacist to test my urine for sugar!" ------------------------------------------------------------A car hit an elderly Jewish man. The paramedic says, "Are you comfortable?" The man says, "I make a good living." ------------------------------------------------------------I just got back from a pleasure trip. I took my mother-in-law to the airport. ------------------------------------------------------------I've been in love with the same woman for 49 years. If my wife finds out, she'll kill me! ------------------------------------------------------------Someone stole all my credit cards, but I won't be reporting it. The thief spends less than my wife did.

"I've been very weak." The son said, "Why are you so weak?" She said, "Because I haven't eaten in 38 days."

All Medication Has Side Effects & Surgery Can Carry Risks This has been known for a long time, but‌

Did you know that it is already proven

Did you also know

today that certain drugs cause serious chronic diseases, such as allergies, asthma or eczema and others later on if taken by infants under 2 years? These children will have to live with those diseases in their later lives if they are not treated at an early stage.

Did you know

The effectiveness of these treatments has also been proven for a long time.

Did you also know that more and more

Often only a few treatments are needed, rarely more than 10.

that alternatives exist, with which you can stop or at least relieve pain, inflammation (even of a chronic type), many diseases or discomforts? Even Fibromyalgie, Tinnitus, Carpal tunnel syndrome and Allergies - only to name a few.

that many patients therefore are spared surgery? doctors of scientific medicine use these treatments with great success together with their other treatments or even without any additional medication against some diseases because the side effects of the drugs cause new symptoms and discomforts?

Did you know that this kind of treatment is gentle and well tolerated that even children, pregnant women and newborns can be treated with it?
