Happy month of Halloween to those who celebrate such a scare-mongering day! In Spain October 31st marks a day to celebrate and remember those friends and loved ones who have passed on, and transitioned to ‘the other side’ as they continue their journeys as souls. And while Trick and Treating amongst the children isn’t so common as it is in the USA, it’s beginning to grow in popularity, so if you have kids it’s a nice idea to allow them to indulge in a scary costume as they prepare to collect candy on the evening of the 31st. My husband and I just returned from a last road trip with just the two of us, before the baby arrives. We’re aware that life will be totally different at that point so we made the most of time alone while we still can. We drove all the way from California to Idaho to begin with, stopping at a town called Eureka in Nevada en-route. We found ourselves driving along Highway 50 in the black of night, which was a Halloween-like experience in itself. Unfortunately, we hit two bunny rabbits, and almost a fox, and more bugs splattered against the windshield than I’d ever known before. When we arrived at our hotel the receptionist was wearing a t-shirt which read ‘I survived Highway 50.’ She told us that many cars get totalled after hitting larger animals on the highway, such as elk, deer, and moose. So we were actually lucky to only collide with rabbits. After spending two days back in Ketchum, Idaho where we used to live, we went to Oregon and a really cool place called Cannon Beach, then back on the road to the beautiful

Strange News Carmel-on-the-Sea. And now we’re home in Ojai, California, and back to thinking of all things baby. I’m about to order a cute baby carrier on Amazon that has a kangaroo on the front with a baby kangaroo in its pouch. I never knew that having a baby (or at least the pre-birth stage) would be so fun!

Bouquet VS Baby A young wedding guest has become an internet sensation as in her desperation to catch the bride's bouquet, she was filmed allowing the baby she was holding to fall to the floor. She dived backwards in an attempt to snatch the flowers at the reception in Wellington, New Zealand, but was unsuccessful – they were caught by a taller girl who will now presumably be finding love. She then immediately picked the uninjured baby up off the floor. The video has been posted on YouTube where the uploader wrote: "Note: the baby was not harmed."

Pigged Out A man who rented out his father's house was shocked to discover that the tenants had moved a 50-stone pig into the lounge. Dr Gary Armstrong had made "no animals" a condition of the tenancy of the house in Lea in Lincolnshire but became concerned when a builder reported a large hole had been dug in the garden. Dr Armstrong suspected it was a dog but an inspection discovered the enormous pig. It is understood eviction proceedings are underway.

De Cotta Law Legalisation of properties in Andalusía’s Axarquía Region By Francisco Javier Martín Martín, Lawyer with De Cotta Law In Andalusía, especially in the Axarquia area, there are a number of properties, mainly private homes, on land not zoned for construction. Typically these properties have been built without a licence or without complying with the parameters of a building licence from a local authority, which has possibly ignored the infringement of planning laws. These houses have been in limbo between legality and illegality as most were built some years ago, so the deadline has passed for the local government to take action against the illegal construction and uphold urbanisation laws. Some of these homes currently do not have utilities connected, such as electricity and water; although Andalusía’s regional government has approved the Law (Decree 2/2012) which means that owners can now apply for utilities and register their homes. To achieve this, the property owners must secure a licence for their property, known as an Asimilado a fuera de ordenación – this licence is issued by the local town hall for each relevant property in its municipality that is currently outside the planning laws. Also with this licence, owners can proceed to contract utilities from the relevant companies supplying electricity and water etc. However, to obtain the licence, every homeowner will have to follow a procedure that currently is not entirely clear and will depend on the different criteria for each local authority. This procedure will oblige the owner to pay a series of fees to the authorities; the amount depends on the specifications of each building.

This is why it is imperative to seek legal advice to negotiate the somewhat complex procedure and where possible to obtain a licence. Where the property has been licenced, it is then necessary to register at the Land Registry with the new dimensions and construction. The good news is that the Land Registrars are now dealing the legalisation of many defective applications to ensure that the size of the plot is adequate. As the aim is to protect the environment and prevent overbuilding, this is good news for the future of the area. If you would like De Cotta Law to review the legal situation of your property, please contact their Nerja office for a private consultation. Think Clever The best questions to ask to find out about your child’s day at school

7. Tell me three different times you used your pencil today?

Ever collected your children from school and asked... “How was your day?” “Fine” “What did you do today” “Hmmm dunno, not much” And that’s it, the conversation ends. Well try asking these questions instead and you will find out a whole lot more.

8. And did you have to use your rubber?

1. What game did you play at breaktime? 2. What made you smile at school today?  3. What was the funniest thing the teacher said?  4. Who bought in the best food today for lunch? 5. Tell me one cool thing you learned today ?  6. If you were allowed to choose, who would you sit next to in class?

9. Did anything make you cross at school today? 10. Did any of the children in your class do anything that made you laugh today? 11. Which lesson did you most enjoy today and why?  12. Was anyone naughty at school today and why?

Fun Facts About Halloween Ghoulish facts.... Teng Chieh or the Lantern Festival is one Halloween festival in China. Lanterns shaped like dragons and other animals are hung around houses and streets to help guide the spirits back to their earthly homes. To honor their deceased loved ones, family members leave food and water by the portraits of their ancestors. Halloween celebrations in Hong Kong are known as Yue Lan or the “Festival of the Hungry Ghosts” during which fires are lit and food and gifts are offered to placate potentially angry ghosts who might be looking for revenge.

The word “witch” comes from the Old English wicce, meaning “wise woman.” In fact, wiccan were highly respected people at one time. According to popular belief, witches held one of their two main meetings, or sabbats, on Halloween night. Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween. Fifty percent of kids prefer to receive chocolate candy for Halloween, compared with 24% who prefer non-chocolate candy and 10% who preferred gum.

Both Salem, Massachusetts, and Anoka, Minnesota, are the self-proclaimed Halloween capitals of the world. Boston, Massachusetts, holds the record for the most Jack O’Lanterns lit at once (30,128). The Village Halloween parade in New York City is the largest Halloween parade in the United States. The parade includes 50,000 participants and draws over 2 million spectators. In many countries, such as France and Australia, Halloween is seen as an unwanted and overly commercial American influence. Children are more than twice as likely to be killed in a pedestrian/car accident on Halloween than on any other night. Because the movie Halloween (1978) was on such a tight budget, they had to use the cheapest mask they could find for the character Michael Meyers, which turned out to be a William Shatner Star Trek mask. Shatner initially didn’t know the mask was in his likeness, but when he found out years later, he said he was honored. The first Jack O’Lanterns were actually made from turnips. Halloween is the second highest grossing commercial holiday after Christmas.

Please mention The Sentinella when responding to adverts Cútar

Cútar, pronounced Cootar, forms part of the Axarquía Route of the Raisin. It is known as the Fountain of Paradise, Fuente del Paraiso from the arab word Kautzar, because of the twelve springs within the town. The village is surrounded by vine covered hills and as you drive the 6 kilometres up the winding road from Benamargosa it remains hidden in the folds of the mountains until you round the last bend at km 5 where all you can see is Comares towering up into the sky, then suddenly the white oasis of Cútar appears, a mountainous Atlantis majestically rising from the depths below. This jewel of a town sparkles in the sunlight as you drive down into the entrance to the village where the first sight to behold is the beautifully restored fountain, the Aina Alcaharia which used to be an Arab Chapel before converting to a well and fountain, the only surviving Arab Fountain of its kind in Málaga province.

Cútar is proud of its Moorish roots and goes back in time to the fifteenth century for two days every October, to celebrate the Monfí Festival where you can experience the smells, tastes and music of that era. There are belly dancers, falconry displays and street entertainment. Homes are opened as museums showing many items of the past, traditional methods of weaving, paintings and pictures, old photographs of the village in bygone days. There is a Moorish arch known as the Algorfa with a house above it. At the top, western side of Cútar sits the 16th century Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación dominating the village with its beautiful Baroque side chapel. It was originally known as Our Lady of the Angels and was built over an Arab mosque. If you haven´t yet visited Cútar I can highly recommend it as being one of the few remaining virtually untouched, traditional white villages in the Axarquía and October is the best month to visit with the Monfi Festival this year on 11th & 12th.

Please mention The Sentinella when responding to adverts Cold Facts About The Winter

Brrrrrrrrr... it’s coming!!!!! Every winter, at least one septillion (that’s 1 followed by 24 zeros) snow crystals fall from the sky Winter cold kills more than twice as many Americans as summer heat does In one study, men rated pictures of women’s breasts and bodies as more attractive in the winter months, while they rated pictures of women’s faces the same. Researchers believe men don’t see women’s bodies as much during the winter, so they’re more excited when they do The Southern Hemisphere typically has milder winters than the Northern Hemisphere. This is because the Southern Hemisphere has less land and a more maritime climate

Google searches for “eHarmony” and “” also peaked around these times. The onset of menopause is significantly higher in winter than in spring or autumn, with a smaller peak in summer The average snowflake falls at about 3 mph. One inch of snow will produce just less than 1/10 of an inch of water when melted. Ten inches of snow will melt down to only 1 inch of water The largest recorded snowman ever built was in Bethel, Maine, in February 1999. The 113foot, 7-inch snowman broke the previous record held by Yamagata, Japan, at 96 feet and 7 inches

While it seems counterintuitive, Earth is actually closest to the sun in December, even though winter solstice is the shortest day of the year According to the Guinness World Records, on January 28, 1887, a snowflake 15 inches wide and 8 inches thick fell in Fort Keogh, Montana, making it the largest snowflake ever observed Cold winter weather dulls sexual sensations, and cooler body temperatures decrease arousal for both men and women. Interestingly, women are 30% more likely to orgasm if their feet are warm Chionophobia is the persistent fear of snow, especially becoming trapped by snow. The term is derived from the Greek words chion andphobos, meaning “snow” and “fear,” respectively A New Zealand insect called the Weta freezes completely solid when temperatures drop during the winter. However, when temperatures warm back up, the insect unfreezes, thaws, and resumes its activities Google searches for terms like “porn,” “boobs,” “xxx,” and “massage parlor” have a 6-month seasonal pattern. Specifically, they peak in early summer and around the winter holidays

Asbestos - Have You Been In Contact?

hAVE YOU EVER wORkED wiTh ASBESTOS? My name is Steve Woods and I am a solicitor based in Chester, UK, specialising in claims for asbestos related diseases. I have been dealing with these claims for over 25 years and I have been visiting people in Spain for the last four years recently having been to Competa, Benalmadena and Torremolinos. If you are suffering with breathing problems it is important to have them checked out by your doctor. Investigations can show whether lung damage has been caused by exposure to asbestos and so it is important to make your doctor aware if you have come into contact with asbestos in the UK during your working life. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with an asbestos related condition or has breathing problems and has come into contact with asbestos in the UK please get in touch. You may be entitled to claim damages or benefits in the UK and I can help on a no win no fee basis. It does not matter if the person involved has died because a claim may still be possible. A change in the rules now enables a solicitor to agree with his client to take a share of any money recovered. A lot of solicitors now do this but i do not because I believe that my

clients should receive whatever compensation I can obtain for them in full. I can also guarantee that all claims are dealt with by a qualified solicitor. I am happy to talk to anyone free of charge about their individual situation to see if a claim is possible. I can be contacted on 00 44 1244 340560 at or alternatively you can visit my website at

Welcoming New Owners At Legends Bar Its all change at Legends Bar, Torre Del Mar The time has come for Austin & Angela to bid farewell to being the Owners of Legends Bar in Torre Del Mar. Since the bar opened in June 2014, it has been popular with both English and Spanish customers alike, showing a wide selection of Sport and offering a great selection of Tapas and light snacks. The new owners are Shaun & Rachel Barnett, along with their youngest son Mattie, who have moved over from Lincoln in the UK. Shaun has a long history of managing bars and nightclubs, whilst Rachel’s background lies with the local authorities. Mattie is a qualified FA referee, so will be on hand to discuss the finer points of the game. Initial plans are to improve on the existing Legends theme, but also to increase the food offering, promising to implement the return of the traditional Sunday roast amongst other things. Shaun told The Sentinella that he felt very lucky

LEGENDS to have also been able to retain the two existing staff, Oana and Dario. Shaun, Rachel and Mattie wish Austin & Angela all the best now they are free to concentrate more on their other business “Buy A Home Spain”. Legends Bar will be hosting a welcome party on Saturday 17th October, flying in a wellknown celebrity chef to help out with the free buffet. There will also be a complimentary glass of cava thrown in for good luck. You are welcome to pop down and say hello, they’ll be pleased to see you. See main advert on page 122

Until 22! The story of Oana.... 18 months ago, with my dreams in my pockets, I left my parents’ house in Romania for a better life in Spain. I’d been here three years ago, but couldn’t get a job. This time it will be OK, I thought. I'll have a nice job and a good salary. My boyfriend’s mother had suggested we come back to Spain, because this time we would be lucky and both of us would find jobs immediately. So we had decided that we would try again. We arrived in Spain with just 200€, but at least we had a place to stay – my boyfriend’s parents’ house. We thought it would take no more than a couple of weeks to find work – my boyfriend in the campo and me perhaps as a waitress in a bar or restaurant. However, seven months later, although he had found work, I still had no job. I kept asking myself why I had come back. Well, because I wanted a new life for us; we had dreams to fulfill. But I had left a good job –

Cars, offices, patio doors, glass curtains and we can put the tint film into a roll down or vertical blind for occasional use. In fact: If it’s glass we’ll tint it! For more information contact: 958 496 571 / 644 546 176

I used to work in a Cash and Carry and enjoyed it, surrounded by nice people. One day, a friend called me to say that a restaurant in La Caleta needed a waitress. I immediately took my CV to the restaurant, full of hope and with my best smile. Although the owner said he didn’t need anyone for the moment, he rang me two days later and offered me the job. While I was waiting for the bus on my first day, two ladies tried to ask me in Spanish what time the bus would arrive. I answered in English and that impressed them. They asked if I had a job – I explained that I was starting one that day. They said a friend of theirs had a bar in Torre del Mar and needed a barmaid; I gave them my phone number just in case. I had just arrived at the restaurant when my phone rang – it was the bar owner saying he wanted to see me. I was so pleased; I could choose my job. I decided to go to the bar in Torre del Mar because of the nice English ladies and I also thought the work might be more varied. So I finally had work and it felt so good. I had my own money for the first time in months! It was far from plain sailing, though, and there were problems, but I realised my life wasn’t bad. I did leave the bar, but I’ll tell you about that next month! Until then… smile and be happy. Trambitasu Oana Maria

Recipe Of The Month hardcore coleslaw Coleslaw is such a versatile side dish, perfect for barbecues and works just as well made with winter vegetables and served alongside roast pork in the winter! ingredients 1 bulb fennel ¼ small celeriac, peeled ¼ small red cabbage ¼ small white cabbage 1 beetroot, peeled 1 Spanish onion 2 large carrots, peeled 1 tbsp fennel seeds, toasted 2 tbsp flaky sea salt 1 lemon, zest only 1 tsp chopped fresh dill 1 tbsp chopped chervil 1 tbsp chopped fresh flatleaf parsley For the garlic dressing 5 garlic cloves, grated 2 free-range egg yolks 4 tsp white wine vinegar 35g/1¼oz English mustard 1 lemon, juice only 1 tbsp salted anchovies 2 tsp caster sugar 350ml/12fl oz vegetable oil salt cayenne pepper, to taste Preparation method 1. Finely slice the fennel, celeriac, red cabbage, white cabbage, beetroot, onion and carrots and place into a large mixing bowl. Add the fennel seeds and salt. Mix thoroughly, then leave to stand for 20 minutes so the vegetables wilt and cure in the salt. 2. For the garlic dressing, add the garlic, egg yolks, white wine vinegar, mustard, lemon juice, anchovies and sugar to a food processor and blend until smooth. While the food processor is still running, slowly pour in the vegetable oil in a thin steady stream until the mayonnaise is emulsified. Season with salt and cayenne pepper, to taste. Pass through a fine sieve to make it really smooth. Keep in the fridge until needed.

3. Rinse the vegetables under cold running water for a couple of minutes. Place in a clean tea towel and squeeze out all of the moisture. Put the vegetables in a clean mixing bowl and add the lemon zest and chopped herbs. Check and add seasoning if required. Fold in as much mayonnaise as you like, you may not need it all. Mix together and serve. The coleslaw will keep in the fridge for up to one week.

Hagfish – also called slime eel – often top the list of ocean's most disgusting creatures, but they’re actually valuable parts of the ocean ecosystem, and that slime might have practical applications. They have been around for over 500 million years. Hagfish produce large amounts of slimy coating that when mixed with water, transforms into a rather sticky goo. When held or caught, hagfish use their slime as a way to ward off predators.

Large Terrace with Barbecue Great Ambience & Exquisite Tapas Breakfasts & Drinks Molino de Velasco, Local 10 Vélez - Málaga Tel: 952 50 46 96

To wipe the slime away, the hagfish will tie itself into a knot and work the knot from its head to its tail, scraping off the slime as it goes. If its nostril fills with slime, the hagfish will “sneeze” to clear out the clog. Perhaps even more disgusting, however, is how they feed. They first attach themselves to their prey like a leech, tear off some flesh, then proceed to eat the victim from the inside out. Although they have been observed actively hunting fish, hagfish mostly feed on dead and dying creatures on the sea floor. They perform an important ecological service, cleaning and recycling dead animals from the sea floor. Their slime contains tens of thousands of very thin (100 times smaller than a human hair) protein threads. The threads are extremely strong, and when stretched and dried out they resemble spider silk. There are an estimated 76 species of hagfish, which live in cold waters around the world. They can be found as deep as 5,600 feet, and prefer to stay near the soft sea floor, where they can bury themselves if threatened.

To advertise call 664 210 468 or email

Amazing Marine Life Continued The largest hagfish, Eptatretus goliath, can grow to more than four feet, while the smallest species reach only several inches long. Hagfish are scaleless with soft skin. The skin of the hagfish has been described as covering its body like a loosely fitting sock. Colours vary with the species, and range from pink to bluegrey. They have four hearts: one serves as the main pump, while the other three serve as accessory pumps. They breathe through their nose and skin. Hagfish take in water through their nasopharyngeal duct, which leads to their pharynx and gill pouches. Different species have between 5 and 15 pairs of gills. Hagfish also have a welldeveloped network of capillaries in their skin, which might allow them to “breathe” through their skin when buried in mud. Hagfish can’t see well, but have other sharp senses. They don’t have compound eyes that can resolve images, but instead possess sim-

ple eyespots that can detect light. Hagfish depend on their well-developed senses of smell and touch to navigate and find food. They have several pairs of barbels – sensing tentacles – around their mouths and a single nostril on the top of their heads. Hagfish are the only living animals that have a skull but no spine. Their skeleton is made up entirely of cartilage. Like lampreys, they are jawless; instead, they have a pair of horizontally moving structures with tooth-like projections that they use to grasp and tear off pieces of food.

Helping Axarquia Monthly Update

La Vaqueria

Is the Padrón (Municipal Registration Record) sufficient to prove permanent residence for tax deduction purposes?

NEW at La Vaqueria this month is our "donations" box and the Tuesday Sandwich offer!!!!

The Spanish Tax Authority resolves this issue through the Binding Tax Consultation V198115, which specifically states that the mere Empadronamiento (registration in the Municipal Register of Inhabitants) does not in itself constitute sufficient evidence of permanent residence in a specific town. Therefore, in order to be eligible for tax deductions for the purchase—applicable to purchases before 01-01-2013—as well as tax exemptions for reinvestment and for transfer for taxpayers over 65, the following means of evidence to prove permanent residence are required among others: Electricity, water and gas bills, fixed-line telephone, internet connection, etc Residence specified as address for notifications purposes from banks, insurance companies, property administrators, public administration bodies, etc. Registration in the medical centre nearest to your permanent residence.

Artist Su Derrick has transformed the old village dairy of Benamargosa into a very interesting arts and crafts shop with a studio for classes, her mosaic workshop and a beautiful garden full of inspiring arty ideas. Lots of recycled materials have been used and Su is very willing to offer advice on how to go about some of these projects and where to buy the materials needed. The garden at La Vaqueria is a beautiful little oasis where many of the ingredients for the kitchen are grown. It also has displays of artwork which are growing; large projects which may take some years to complete...noticeably the mosaicing of the side of the house and the pebble path. As many people come to browse and return again and again to see progress the donations box is there for anyone who would like to contribute. Anyone who visits, there is always a warm welcome awaiting along with a cuppa, home made cake and our new Tuesday market special offer......choice of gourmet sandwiches with home made onion rings.

The X Factor judge sparked concern for her health when she revealed her dramatic weight loss at recent auditions for the series. She’s now insisted that she's happy with her body and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. "I’m happy with myself,” she told the Daily Mail. “It took a while, but I’m proud of how I look." Cheryl slammed critics for suggesting she had an eating disorder, confirming that "there's no cause for concern". In an interview with the Daily Mirror, she said: "No, I’m not anorexic. "I work 12 to 14 hours a day. I don’t even have time at the moment to exercise – and I don’t need to either.”

The former EastEnders actress was snapped scrubbing the floors at the Bill Nicholson pub in Tottenham Hale. Westlife heartthrob Mark Feehily may have been part of the biggest pop band of the 1990s, but the singer decided to jack in fame and set up his own catering business. Hairspray star Nicki Blonsky is now a swanky hairstylist in New York, while Jonathan Bennett, the star of Mean Girls, now works as a spinclass instructor in LA. Jonathan is more into fitness than acting these days.

American Pie star Chris Owen now works as a sushi waiter in LA, and Vanilla Ice rapper Van Winkle now works in property and has his own DIY TV show. williams war A year after the tragic death of much-loved actor Robin Williams, his children have made some shocking claims about his widow. Court documents obtained by People magazine show that his wife and children are battling over the assets he left behind. Susan Schneider, who married the Jumanji actor in 2011, is claiming that she is not getting enough money to cover the cost of the mortgage and upkeep on the house she shared with Robin. However, the actor's three children – Zachary, Zelda and Cody Williams – believe that she is exaggerating her needs. The battle has been ongoing since December 2014 and the two sides have also been failing to decide who gets ownership of the late star's personal items, including clothes, artwork and books.

Both Matthew and Matt claimed they had no idea about the wedding, with Matthew telling People magazine: "It was a surprise to me as well. I wasn't invited so what can you do?"

Terry duped Chelsea skipper John Terry has lost £1m in an alleged £30million fraud that has duped up to 100 footballers. Terry wanted to keep his involvement in the failed scheme – allegedly fronted by exWolves and Coventry player Michael McIndoe – a secret. But the Daily Star has revealed his name has been handed to police investigating the case. “The last thing John Terry wants is to be dragged into a court case,” said a source close to the investigation. “He hadn’t told anyone he had invested in the scheme and he’s worried about being made a laughing stock.” Creditors claim McIndoe, who was declared bankrupt last October with disclosed debts of £3million, sucked in funds from fellow professionals to fund a millionaire’s lifestyle. Terry, who previously lost money in an investment on a holiday villa project in Morocco, is the latest top footballer to be linked to it.

& t i u Fr Facts orn Veg Sweet c Sweet corn is a starchy vegetable that doubles as a functional food. Starchy means it is high in carbohydrate content – functional means it contains multiple nutrients that can bring benefits to the body. An average adult needs to consume a minimum of 130 grams of carbohydrates a day for proper function. One cup of cooked sweet corn contains 31 grams. Protein functions to repair cells, build muscles and boost the immune system. A 1-cup serving of sweet corn contains just over 5 grams. The total recommended daily intake of protein is 46 grams for women and 56 grams for men.

lost through sweat during long bouts of exercise. It is needed for heart function, muscle contractions and bone strength. Corn has a moderate amount of potassium. A 1-cup serving contains 325 milligrams. The total recommended intake is 4,700 milligrams for adults over 19 years old. Pairing sweet corn with beans, potatoes or spinach will boost the potassium content. Vitamin A is an antioxidant which helps protect the body against harmful free radicals. Additionally, it helps keep the connective tissue strong and it moistens the mucous membranes in the lungs, throat and nose. Sweet corn contains 310 international units of vitamin A in 1 cup. The recommended daily intake of this vitamin is 3,000 international units for men and 2,000 international units for women. Having a meal with sweet corn and winter squash, carrots or sweet potatoes will increase the vitamin A content.

Sweet corn is also low in fat. A 1-cup serving contains about 2.5 grams of total fat and less than 0.5 grams of saturated fat – but adding butter to your corn will impact the fat content. Sweet corn has a moderate amount of dietary fibre. One cup contains just over 3.5 grams. Adult men should try to consume at least 30 grams of fibre a day, and women should get at least 20 grams. Fibre is a nondigestible form of carbohydrate that helps stabilise blood sugar levels, prevent constipation and reduce the risk of high cholesterol. It also helps you feel full for longer after you eat it. This is especially beneficial if you are trying to lose weight or maintain weight. Corn is rich in vitamin B constituents, especially Thiamin and Niacin. Thiamin is essential for maintaining nerve health and cognitive function. Niacin deficiency leads to Pellagra, a disease characterised by diarrhoea, dementia and dermatitis that is commonly observed in malnourished individuals. Corn is also a good source of Pantothenic acid, which is an essential vitamin for carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism in the body. Corn provides a large percentage of the daily folate requirement, while the kernels of corn are rich in vitamin E, a natural antioxidant that is essential for growth and protection of the body from illness and disease. People Who Come And Go People who Come and Go – 11 – What is happening to house prices??!

haps the true answer is somewhere in the middle.

If you speak to any local estate agent, and ask them if they are busy, their answer will be a resounding YES! We are all rushing around the countryside taking on properties and showing Northern European clients around. And the big question I am frequently asked is about house prices. Have we reached the bottom? Should I be buying now before prices go up? Should I be selling later if the market is recovering?

In a recent survey, 84% of experts agreed that there are signs of a recovery, but none could be certain that we are heading for steady price rises. But all recognised that certain sectors were seeing significant recovery in both sales and prices, namely within the new build sector, and in small, niche sectors, such as in localised areas where the buyers are from abroad. But bargains are fast running out, they agreed. It is clear that the market is different from before the crisis. It is now an extremely fragmented one, with some sectors growing quickly, others not at all. It might be likened to a patient on the mend, but still very delicate.

It is a very difficult question to answer. From first hand experience, yes, the market is moving, and there are plenty of foreign buyers once again turning their gaze towards the sunny climes of nice, safe Southern Spain! But we must not be too over confident! According to the INE, so far this year Spain has had five consecutive quarters of house price rises, up 4% on average in the period April to June 2015, compared to 2007. New build is up (4.9%) with an improvement in the construction industry (22% of new jobs created in the last year across Spain have been in construction). However, the Notaries have reported a fall this year of 7.5% in house prices nation-wide. Per-

For any seller, I would say be cautious, price realistically, if you wish to sell anytime soon. And for the buyers, perhaps it is time to realise that vendors are no longer willing to underprice their properties. Most vendors have greatly improved and cared for their homes here, so if they are offering a realistic price for a quality home, that is the best bargain out there at the moment! Poetry Corner The Darkness The darkness comes from deep inside. It creeps up from out of your dark side. Gnawing at your flesh by your graveside. Of a life that you feel lives you mortified.

Social Media How to make friends without using Facebook or Twitter !

Creeping death shivers down your spine. You feel it wrap around, you feel it reassign. Your screams and visions will all align. Under the moon they will combine. The cares and the worries you place on today. Are replaced by blinding pain in your temple, you have nothing to say. Your feel all hope go floating away. Leaving you alone, as your body starts to decay. You see your life end, but when did it begin? You fall to your knees as your thoughts go within. The deepest part of your soul, under your skin. You see the vision of the bitter end. You stay alive as the skin and muscle fall from your bones. You get lightheaded and collapse on your knee bone's. You feel like you're in an episode of the twilight zone. All you can do is let out a little moan. You finally succumb to your fate. You finally become the desolate. Roaming the earth as deaths advocate. Bringing your victims to hells gate.

Just Imagine!

Some extremely sad news but some very informative information

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with ÂŁ86,400

So sad for the elderly victim of the runaway car in Calle Neptuno, Torrox last week. This incident could so easily have been avoided by turning the steering wheel to full lock, with the front wheels pointing into the kerb. This simple manoeuver works whether facing up or downhill no matter which side of the road you park on. If the handbrake lets go, the car cannot roll very far. It can still cause hurt or damage but much less severe.

It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out everything of course?

Even on a slight slope the kinetic energy of a ton or so of metal can rapidly build up to devastating proportions. It can also help to leave the car in gear when parking but it's not foolproof, if the handbrake let's go the torsion can pop the gear out of mesh, particularly in older vehicles, Keith Hallam

Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against "tomorrow." You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success! The clock is running!! Make the most of today.

Based on a true story, Everest takes place in 1996. Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) helped popularise this form of mountaineering, his company Adventure Consultants taking teams of tourists up Everest throughout the early 1990s. On this fateful trip, his group has to acclimatise to their surroundings and get to know each other. A journey that starts out joyous soon becomes unnecessarily challenging thanks to delays, and the questionable quality of some of the ropes and ladders in use. The mountaineers press on, only to be battered by a blizzard that ruins visibility, and hit by unexpected avalanches that make the climb even more

precarious. We’re told that human beings aren’t designed to function at that height – equivalent to the cruising altitude of a 747 – and we see evidence of that as the struggle becomes deadly serious, and yet those that can continue upwards. As the situation becomes evermore grave, the film ricochets from the climbers on the mountain, to those at base camp trying to get them down, to their families at home desperate for good news. Back up the mountain, life and death decisions are being made, with oxygen becoming a precious commodity. Seeing death up close and witnessing the effect that is has on their families back home makes you question why these individuals felt the need to tackle the mountain in the first place. It’s a question that’s goes unanswered, with the mountain having the final word Star Rating *****/*****

) : a h a Jokes h I was in Turkey on holiday and came across one of those Turkish bath houses. They shaved with a solid steel stone ground razor from below the neckline, inside the ears, snipped out nose hairs, waxed off chest hairs and plucked all the hairs out of the ass crack, all finished off with a moustache trim and alcohol rub. Honestly, the wife's never looked so frickin' good. ------------------------------------------------------------A couple in a cafe in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch asks the waitress 'Can you settle an argument for us please and pronounce where we are, really slowly?' The waitress leaned over and said ........ 'Burrrrrrgurrrrrrking' ------------------------------------------------------------Mrs and I like to make a little competition out of folding the laundry. It usually ends in a drawer ------------------------------------------------------------A couple were Christmas shopping in a packed shopping centre. As the wife walked round she was surprised to discover that her husband was nowhere to be seen. She was quite upset as there was a lot to do and was getting very worried, so she called him on her mobile phone. In a quiet voice he replied “Do you remember that jewellers we went into about 5 years ago where you saw that diamond necklace you loved but we couldn’t afford, which I said I would buy for you one day?” The wife choked up and started crying and said “Yes, I do remember that shop” “Well I’m in the pub next door!” ------------------------------------------------------------I love to pamper my girlfriend after she's had a stressful day at work.

I get her to text me when she's leaving so I can get the hot tap running, swirl around the foam and bubbles and time everything perfectly so that, the moment she walks through the door, the dishes are piled up and waiting for her. ------------------------------------------------------------I called the RSPCA today and said, "I've just found a suitcase in the woods containing a fox and four cubs." "That's terrible," she replied. "Are they moving?" "I'm not sure, to be honest," I said, "But I suppose that would explain the suitcase." ------------------------------------------------------------The teacher had given the class an assignment. He stressed the importance of this particular assignment, and that no excuses would be accepted except illness or a death in the immediate family. A smart-arse student pipes up: "What about extreme sexual exhaustion, sir?" The class breaks up laughing, and when they settle down the teacher responds with: "Well, I guess you'll have to learn to write with your other hand." ------------------------------------------------------------A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say the following: "Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time." "You foul-mouthed sex obsessed swine," retorted the lady indignantly. "In this country we don't speak aloud in public places about our sex lives ... "Hey, coola down lady," said the man. "Who talkin' abouta sexa? I'm a justa tellin' my frienda how to spella 'Mississippi'."

Jokes h a ha :) It was the first day of a new school year. Three boys arrive at class late and the teacher asks the first boy "Why are you late?" The boy replies "I've been on Blueberry Hill" The teacher said "Take your seat." She asks the next boy why he was late. "I was on Blueberry Hill also" he replied. Then she asked the third boy, but he replied with the same answer. As the boys we're sitting down a girl arrives in. "Let me guess" said the teacher, "You were on Bluberry Hill also" "NO.... I am Blueberry Hill" replied the girl. ------------------------------------------------------------Three guys die and go to hell. When they arrive the devil informs them that he is going to remove their penises. "Oh, how are you going to do it", asks one of the guys. "Whatever your fathers’ jobs were, that's how I'll remove them" says the devil. So he calls over the first guy "Your father was a lumberjack... So I'll cut it off with a saw" To the second guy he says "Your father was a blacksmith... So I'm going to burn it off" As he calls the third guy over he notices he's smiling. "Why are you smiling, you just watched me remove your friends penises" says the devil. "I know" replies the man "but my father made lollipops!" ------------------------------------------------------------There once was two people Lisa and Brian. They got married and had a child. The only problem was that the child was only a head, he had no arms, legs or torso. So all his life he was picked on and teased and he always wished he had a body. So when he turned 21 his dad took him to a bar and let him have his first beer ever. When he drank a whole bottle an arm popped out. When he drank more bottles more body parts popped out.

After drinking many beers he finally had a whole body. As they left the bar, he was very drunk and was hit by a bus and he died. The moral of the story "Quit while you're a head" ------------------------------------------------------------I'm selling my pet python on ebay. Some bloke just rang up and asked is it big? I said bloody massive. He said how many feet? I said none you idiot, it's a snake. ------------------------------------------------------------I didn't think I'd get any money from the bank to set up a new knitwear business but when I turned up modeling one of our balaclavas they were very obliging.
