Finally I’m a mummy, after a painstaking wait which went ten days beyond my due date! For those who haven’t already heard, gorgeous Little Ty Patrick Love Tillman was born on November 25, 2015, on the day of the Full Moon. It was the perfect, sacred home birth that I’d dreamed of.

Deposito Legal MA-1435-2005 I woke up on the morning of the 25th at 4.30am with my waters breaking. My husband quickly called the midwife while I got in the shower to help relieve the pain of the contractions. The midwife arrived within 40 minutes and revealed that I was already 9cm dilated. Three and a half hours later, after a lot of pushing in the water tub, accompanied by beautiful birth music, little baby Ty entered the world. The song I most remember hearing from our play list was When a Child is Born. In a state of complete overwhelm, and by exhaustion from all that pushing, I was handed Ty and my heart exploded with unconditional love to have this tiny little vulnerable being in my arms. Finally, after nine months we met our baby boy for the first time! He weighed 8 pounds 12 at birth, 22 inches long, and even his head was 2 inches in circumference larger than usual so it’s no wonder that the pushing took a good few hours!

Flag gaffe Scottish Facebook users were left baffled after they were offered the option to post a status update celebrating St Andrew's Day - featuring the flag of Romania. Facebook encourages users to update their status to show that they are celebrating national holidays and other events. But for several hours Scottish users could only mark their day with a status update featuring the red, yellow and blue Romanian flag. St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, Romania, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, Poland and other countries. One user, Kevin Gilmartin, wrote on Twitter: "Oh Facebook, random Wednesday gets a camel for humpday and you can't manage a wee Saltire for St Andrew's Day?" Kathryn McBain wrote: "I think Facebook may be a little confused." Field Art An Italian land artist has created a 24,000 square metre image of Christ in a field. Dario Gambarin prepared the huge artwork using a tractor – and achieved different depths and colours with the help of a rotating harrow and a plough. The piece, entitled Suffering Christ, is intended to show the "difficult moment faced by humanity" – and commemorated the Catholic Church's Jubilee of Mercy event.

Monster Sprouts Brussels sprouts as big as golf balls hit supermarket shelves last month thanks to higher temperatures in the UK. Weighing 35g - more than twice the average and measuring up to 4cm wide, they were dubbed "monster sprouts". Sprout farmer John Clappison, from Beverley in Yorkshire, told Sky News: "We've had lots of lovely sun this summer, plenty of rain and then we've had a nice mild autumn and the crop has grown really, really well." Some people love sprouts, while others hate them - but Mr Clappison says their flavour has sometimes been altered to make them more appealing. He said: "The modern varieties have been bred to be a sweeter, more palatable taste for the younger generation."

De Cotta Law Divorce By Mutal Consent Some couples separate and live apart for a number of years before thinking about divorcing and separating their assets. If you have been living in Spain for more than 6 months and are in this situation you can petition for divorce by mutual consent. You can reach agreement on property, custody and maintenance for children or simply agree a divorce with no financial measures. Where property is owned jointly it is often best to agree what will happen in the future even if you don´t want to sell immediately or it is providing a home for your children. Failure to agree what to do with the property can cause a serious problem in the future, particularly if one party leaves Spain and is not available to sign deeds or sale documents. Other reasons for agreeing to sign a Convenio Regulador – Consent Order – are to prevent debts of one party affecting the assets of the other and to protect future property purchases or pensions in your sole name. For nationals of many countries it is possible to make a claim on future pensions. In England for example there is legislation on Pension sharing within the framework of divorce. It is therefore very important to include, or to exclude, any pension sharing rights in the future. For a detailed study of your particular situation or to understand the legal proceedings and what you are entitled to it is best to seek advice from specialist family lawyers. This is equally important prior to marriage if you each own assets and want advice on holding these jointly or separately in the future. In Spain in family proceedings you cannot represent yourself in court and have to appoint a lawyer and court procurator to act for you. While this does mean costs and fees it is less costly than having to sort out jointly owned property when you might no longer be in contact with your spouse or they may be living abroad. Where the divorce is agreed and the appropriate Convenio is drafted you can agree to share the costs and avoid the higher costs and stress of contentious proceedings. For more information or a consultation with one of our specialist family lawyers please contact us on or telephone 952 527014. See advert opposite

Keeping Busy The Importance of an Occupation for Seniors! As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to "make a difference" in the world. It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other seniors who have found the courage to take on challenges that would make many of us wither. Harold Schlumberg is such a person: This is quoted from Harold "I've often been asked, 'What do you do now that you're retired?' "Well...I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background and one of the things I

enjoy most is converting scotch, wine, and cognac into urine. It's rewarding, uplifting, satisfying, and fulfilling. I do it every day and I really enjoy it." Harold is an inspiration to us all.

Asbestos - Have You Been In Contact?

ASBESTOS - MAkiNg CLAiMS FOR BREAThiNg PROBLEMS My name is Steve Woods and I am a solicitor based in Chester, UK, specialising in claims for asbestos related diseases. I have been dealing with these claims for over 25 years and I aim to provide a professional but personal service. I often visit people in Spain and I have recently been to Competa, Benalmadena and Torremolinos. We all know that as we get older we can develop breathing problems. These problems can have a variety of causes but after investigations, such as x-rays or scans, problems with shortness of breath can be attributed to exposure to asbestos. These investigations can show whether lung damage has been caused by smoking or exposure to asbestos – this can cause very serious illnesses: asbestosis, diffuse pleural thickening and mesothelioma (a cancer that attacks the protective linings of the lungs). It is not only workmen who have used asbestos themselves who develop these diseases but also other men working in their vicinity or wives and other family members who come into contact with their work clothes. It does not matter if the person involved has died, claims are still possible in certain circumstances. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with an asbestos related condition or has breathing problems and has come into contact with asbestos in the UK please get in touch. You may be entitled to claim damages or benefits in the UK and I can help on a no win no fee basis. A change in the rules now enables a solicitor to agree with his client to take

a share of any money recovered. A lot of solicitors now do this but I do not because I believe that my clients should receive whatever compensation I can obtain for them in full. I can also guarantee that all claims are dealt with by a qualified solicitor. I am happy to talk to anyone free of charge about their individual situation to see if a claim is possible. i can be contacted on 00 44 1244 340560 at or alternatively you can visit my website at

interesting Facts - Israel has been locked in conflict with both the Palestinians and its Arab neighbours over ownership of land considered holy by Jews, Christians and Muslims since its creation in 1948. After the Nazi Holocaust, pressure grew for the international recognition of a Jewish state, and in 1948 Israel declared its independence following a UN vote to partition Palestine. Israel’s history has been dominated by the conflict with its Arab neighbours, including fullscale regional wars in 1948, 1967 and 1973, and many smaller-scale conflicts including the 1956 invasion of Egypt and the Lebanon wars of 1982 and 2006. Motorola developed the first cell phone in Israel and the first antivirus for computers was created in Israel in 1979. Israel is the only country in the world that entered the 21st country with a net gain in its number of trees. Israel is the only country in the Middle East where women enjoy full political rights.

Brains The grey matter!! Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full, so, too, do humans take longer to access information when their brains are full.

Now when I reach for a word or a name, I won't excuse myself by saying "I'm having a senior moment". Now, I'll say, "My disk is full!" I have more friends I should tell this to, but right now I can't remember their names. So, please tell all your friends; they may be my friends too!

Researchers say this slowing down process is not the same as cognitive decline. The human brain works slower in old age, but only because we have stored more information over time. The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more. Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is not a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise. SO THERE !!!

New Year Fun Facts The first New Year’s celebration dates back 4,000 years. Julius Caesar, the emperor of Rome, was the first to declare January 1st a national holiday. He named the month after Janus, the Roman god of doors and gates. Janus had two faces, one looking forward and one looking back. Caesar felt that a month named after this god would be fitting Forty-five percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. The top resolutions are: to lose weight, get organised, to spend less and save more, to stay fit and healthy, and to quit smoking. While nearly half of all Americans make resolutions, 25 percent of them give up on their resolutions by the second week of January. Be sure to eat leafy greens on New Year’s. Tradition says that the more leafy greens a person eats, the more prosperity he or she will experience (what an incentive for staying healthy!). Tradition also says that legumes bring prosperity because beans and peas look like coins. No wonder why so many people eat black eyed peas on January 1st.

Many people ring in New Year’s by popping open a bottle of champagne. Americans drink close to 360 million glasses of sparkling wine during this time. The bubbly stuff dates back to the 17th century, when the cork was invented. About 1 million people gather in New York City’s Times Square to watch the ball drop. The Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop came about because of a ban on fireworks. The first ball in 1907 was 700 pounds and was lit with 100 25-watt lights. The current ball puts the old one to shame (thanks to technology). Today, it is covered in 2,688 crystals, is lit by 32,000

LED lights, weighs 11,875 pounds and is 12 feet in diameter. Remember the last scene in When Harry Met Sally, when Harry references a song after he and Sally kiss? It was Auld Lang Syne, a song traditionally sung at the end of New Year’s parties. Poet Robert Burns wrote it in 1788. Though most people do not know the words to Auld Lang Syne, the overall message is that people have to remember their loved ones, dead or alive, and keep them close in their hearts. If Santa is the most common symbol associated with Christmas, then Baby New Year is the symbol most commonly associated with… you guessed it, New Year's! Baby New Year is often seen in a diaper, black top hat, and a sash showing the numbers of the new year. Myth states that he matures into an old man during the year. Make sure to be surrounded by family or loved ones on New Year’s Eve. The first person you come across in the new year could set the tone for the next 12 months. This applies to couples, as well. If a couple celebrating New Year's to-

gether does not kiss, the future of the relationship might be splitsville, so be sure to lay one on your significant other. According to statistics from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, vehicles are stolen on New Year’s Day more than any other holiday. Don’t think your old car is safe, either. In 2011, the 1994 Honda Accord was the most stolen car. To discourage car theft, make sure your car is in a populated area and always take your keys.

Frigiliana (pronounced Frihiliana) is the Axarquía´s answer to Mijas and has won several awards for beauty and conservation. It is one of the larger villages in the area with a population of around 3,000 people, some of whom own holiday homes but the majority live there all year round. The village is 7 kilometres inland from Nerja and sits on top of a ridge in the foothills of the Sierra de Enmedio, part of the Alhama, Tejeda and Almijara mountains. Like most Pueblo Blancos, the streets are narrow, steep and winding and it is easy to get lost in the maze of cobbled pavements that lead you up and down and in and out between the white-washed houses. Traffic is only allowed through by permit except for deliveries between 08:00 to 13:00 weekdays. So for the most part you will find it safe to walk about without being flattened to a wall!

El Barribarto is the historical centre of town and its Moorish architecture and narrow streets are a reminder of the past influence of a culture never forgotten. With 750 years of Moorish occupation, Frigiliana can never forget the legacy of the Moors and every year celebrates for four days the customs, gastronomy and music of Three Cultures, Christians, Moors and Jews. After the Christian conquest in 1487 there was a peaceful co-existence between these three distinct cultures for about 100 years. The village suffered extreme misfortune with plague, storms, earthquake and the phylloxera pest that destroyed the vines in this and other areas. It is thanks to tourism that Frigiliana regained it’s peace and prosperity and continues to do so. As you walk through the narrow, winding streets of the old barrio today you will find plenty of shops selling a gamut of wares. There are bars and restaurants to quench your thirst and appetite before you visit such monuments as The Palacio de los Condes de Frigiliana, the Ecce Homo Heritage, The San Antonio Church and the Phoenician Necropolis. The most direct way to drive to Frigiliana is straight up from the motorway at Nerja, or you can take the mountain road from Torrox. The village lies 56 kilometres from Málaga at an altitude of 318 metres and is on the Route of Sun and Wine

Linea Directa DO i NEED TO iNSURE MY VEhiCLE EVEN iF iT’S OFF ThE ROAD? Some insurance policies like medical cover are not compulsory, others such as fire protection for your property, are. Your vehicle however, must be insured at all times, even if it’s kept off the road in a garage. The minimum legal compulsory insurance is Civil Liability to cover any damage to or claims from a third party, resulting from your vehicle. The existing legislation (Royal Decree 8/2004) states that any car that is kept in Spain must be insured. Trailers and other special types of vehicles that weigh less than 750 kg and cannot be driven on Spanish roads are not required to have insurance. This also means that they cannot be parked on roads or kept on private land. if you own a vehicle that’s not insured you could face a fixed penalty from €601 up to €3,005, and your vehicle may be seized and immobilised. whY DO i NEED TO iNSURE MY CAR iF iTS kEPT iN A PRiVATE gARAgE The owner of a vehicle has a civil responsibility towards their neighbour and their property. Civil responsibility extends beyond car accidents on Spanish roads. If a vehicle, for example, kept in a communal garage, has a fire due to a short circuit, the owner will be responsible for any resulting damages to third parties. The owner will also be liable for a fixed penalty fine, the amount will depend on the gravity of the situation, the length of time the vehicle has been without insurance, and if this is a repeat

offense. iN whAT CiRCUMSTANCES iS iNSURANCE NOT COMPULSORY? If your vehicle has officially been temporarily or permanently taken out of circulation, for example it has been scrapped, then no insurance is required. If you own a vehicle that is not being used and you wish to avoid paying for insurance, then you can apply to have it temporarily taken out of circulation. However, to do this the vehicle needs to have passed its MOT. If the MOT has expired, then it must be taken again and passed, before applying. hOw CAN i AVOiD ANY FiXED PENALTY FiNES The best option is to ensure you have adequate insurance protection for your vehicle at all times. Once your vehicle complies with Spanish regulations, you can then decide what the future use of your vehicle will be, and whether or not to keep it in circulation or take it out. If you require an insurance policy for your vehicle, you can contact Línea Directa on 902 123 161. My Bowen Technique Experience My job involves sitting at a computer for sometimes up to 12 hours a day and one can imagine how much pressure that can put on your spine I’ve known Bianca from Clinica Casa Blanca in Torrox Costa for nearly ten years, ever since she first placed her advert in The Sentinella. After reading and placing her regular articles on the Bowen Technique I decided to give it a go. The Bowen Technique is a safe, non-manipulative, fast and effective system for the treatment of pain, inflammation, joint discomfort, spinal misalignment and much more... Bowen Technique works on the whole body and usually only takes a few sessions to improve your condtion. The results are long lasting unless there is re-injury. I arrived at the clinic and Bianca took me through to the treatment room which was lovely – welcoming and warm. Bianca asked me some standard questions before she got started to check that I was safe to proceed with the treatment, for example that I had no allergies, heart conditions or history of broncitis etc.

Bianca proceeded to explain to me what she would do, after finding out that my exact problem was in my lower back. Depending on the thickness of your clothing, it is not always necessarry to undress for this treatment to work. This treatment really is quite amazing as just the softest of touches allows Bianca to move the body in such a way that can cure the pain totally. Now to be honest I thought after my first session there is no way this will work, and that first evening my pain was still similar. The following day I drank plenty of water as this is a guideline to improve the healing process, on day three I suddenly realised it was now very slight. I was amazed. Treatment is recommended again 3 - 10 days after the first sesssion, so I went back on day 6 and had the treatment again. After 3 days my pain has now completely gone! I would actually call it a little miracle – an absolutely fantastic method of pain relief. If you are unable to visit the clinic, Bianca also offers home visits. See main advert below

Thoughts Of Oana This month I want to talk about the idea of success and happiness. Are you a successful person or a happy person? Do you think that if you have everything on the financial side, you have everything on the emotional side as well? I'll just try to give a simple example. A father comes home late every night, trying to work as much as possible so the whole family can go on a holiday for a week in the winter. However he is never there emotionally for his wife and kids when they need it! Despite this sacrifice by the parent, the family can't understand why they don't get any emotional support. You might have everything you need, but you constantly miss the smiles of your loved ones. You may have photos on your desk or on your phone, but you miss the real smile from the people you love. I've talked to

several different successful people, and the answer was the same from everyone. "I'm happy; I have everything I’ve wanted since I started work," they say. So, presumably they are successful; they have an amazing business or their jobs allow them to earn a good amount of money. On the other hand, there are the people who smile even though they don't have lots of money. For them, happiness is the love and smiles from the people in their lives. I hope this makes you think about what's really important in your lives. This year I wish that all your dreams come true and happiness comes to your door with the new year. Happy New Year to all readers of The Sentinella Magazine. Trambitasu Oana Maria

ARE YOU CONSIDERED A RESIDENT OR A NON RESIDENT FOR TAX PURPOSES IN SPAIN? If you either spend more than 183 days in Spain during a year, or if you have your main business, or economic interests based in Spain, you would be regarded as a RESiDENT for tax purposes. If you reside outside of Spain, but own a property, and/or receive any income in Spain you would be regarded as a NON-RESiDENT for tax purposes. IN BOTh CASES you are legally obliged to submit an annual Tax Declaration in Spain. The Spanish Tax year runs from January 1st to December 31st. and as Tax Declarations are retrospective, Tax Declarations for this year 2015 must be submitted next year in 2016. As a RESiDENT your Tax Declaration for this year must be submitted between MAY 1st and the END of JUNE next year. As a NON- RESiDENT your Tax Declaration for this year must be submitted before the END of DECEMBER next year.

The Spanish Tax authorities do not usually send reminders to advise you of your tax responsibilities in Spain. It’s up to you to be aware of them and to submit a declaration on time each year. Unfortunately, ignorance of the existence of the Spanish Tax Law is no excuse for non-payment or late payment. Fines are automatically issued when the requirements are not met. Obviously, the amount of tax due to be paid by RESiDENTS and NON-RESiDENTS is assessed in completely different ways depending upon the circumstances of each individual. We will be happy to arrange a free appointment to study your particular situation, to explain your personal tax obligations and to advise you on the best options available for you. Fiestas The Spanish cities, towns and villages are famed for their fiestas Whole entire weekends of 24 hour partying. The bangs, the bands and the bu単uelos (donut like sweet treats devoured at 3am after a few drinks and a boogie). The locals love to party and embrace the fiestas full on. The same familes who went home (yes, kids too) at 4am are up in their best clothes at the 10am church service to honour the village Saint or virgen. The same family are then having a blast at the foam party and then eating paella in the town square. Come Sunday eyes are tired but the spirit is not as everyone knows it is soon Monday and the streets will be enveloped in silence and everyone can sleep for hours and hours. These fiestas have a special place in the hearts of locals. Something much deeper than the party and music. These fiestas are steeped in tradition and pride. They are the Sunday best of the village. They show what the village is made of. They show a community that has come together to put a party on that is worthy of a huge pat on the back. In the village where I live a group of villagers each year are nominated or they can volunteer to become mayordomos.A mayordomo is basically an organiser/helper. Each fiesta has its own group of mayordomos. Meetings, work and organisation begins almost a year before fiesta. Fund raising and dedication. Its a tough job and doesn't come with a pay check but its a fantastic way to understand the village and become involved in something wonderful. I have been a mayordomo a few times. Summer fiesta and two San Antons. The San Anton fiesta takes place in various places throughout Spain, normally during January. Im not religious but I love my village. I will work to make a fiesta a success. I have huge respect for the traditions and parades. I ventured out to help with the Saturday night procession. San Anton was being taken from the small church in the Ermita to the main church in the Plaza. We were early. It was cold so I sat on a bench in the beautiful little church and waited. San Anton was next to me. Surrounded by red carnations and ready for his tour of the village. I studied him and found a moment of sheer peace in amongst the bangs and noise of the band approaching. Our Mayor came in to make

sure everything was ready. He added a figure of a little pig at the feet of San Anton (the history of that pig is another story) and San Anton was raised up on the shoulders of men, young and old as the band awaited to accompany him to the Plaza. Normally the Mayor leads the procession. Not out of importance but more to ensure that the statue is heading in the right direction and looking out for low hanging wires, ect. This year two mayordomos were to oversee this job as Paco took a more discreet position behind San Anton. Myself and Rafa took our places and we got to enjoy a priveliged view of the procession that few get to see. I felt very blessed. I saw the faces of concentration and determination of the village men as they proudly maintained balance and strength. The eyes of older villagers who came to their doors to watch San Anton pass. Tears of emotion shining. Of the shouts of instructions as they managed to get round tight corners and duck under fiesta flags and wires. The sound of the band full on and the clang of the metal poles used to rest the saint on as the men rub their sore shoulders. I understood so much more that evening and will not forget the experience. Rafa told me I would enjoy it and he was right. I have walked along those streets for 13 years. To take my daughters to school, to get married, to go to the shop, meet friends and just live day to day but that was one of the best walks I have done on these village streets. viva San Anton! Grill the bacon whole and chop the bacon into small pieces, roughly 1cm. 3. Mix the flours and baking powder in a large bowl and rub in the butter until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the bacon mixture and half the cheese. Mix in the milk to form a soft dough. Contronym’s Have you ever encountered a word and learned that it meant the opposite of what you remembered? If so, you may have come across a contronym. A contronym, often referred to as a Janus word or auto-antonym, is a word that evokes contradictory or reverse meanings depending on the context. Specifically, a contronym is a word with a homonym (another word with the same spelling but different meaning) that is also an antonym (a word with the opposite meaning). Here are some contronyms that are commonly used as verbs in the English language: To Buckle Example 1: Our hiking instructors told us to buckle our backpacks to our bodies during rigorous climbs. g n i z fe a i m L A ine fish Mar Blob The oceans are full of weird looking fish, but one of the most extraordinary is the aptly-named blobfish It lives at depths of up to 3900 feet (1189 meters) where the normal pressure is about 118 times higher than that at sea level. Because of this, it is rarely seen by humans in its habitat. The blobfish lives off the coasts of Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania, and because of increasing fishing of the seas Down Under, it is being dragged up with other catches. As soon as it comes to the surface, it dies and becomes – well, a blob.

692 300 396

It is in danger of being wiped out, since even though it is usually thrown back when caught in the nets, it is already dead. It can grow up to 12 inches long. Despite being inedible, the blobfish unluckily lives at the same depths as other more appetising ocean organisms, including crab and lobster. It was chosen as the world’s ugliest animal in 2013, beating other bizarre creatures such as the axolotl, the naked mole rat, the purple frog and the proboscis monkey. Its scientific name is Psychrolutes marcidus, which means it belongs to a family of fish known as fatheads. Not much is known about the Pyschrolutidae family except that they have large heads, live on the ocean floor and that their family name comes from the Greek word psychrolouteo, which means “to have a cold bath”.

To advertise call 664 210 468 or email

Amazing Marine Life (Continued) The blobfish has no skeleton and no real muscles. It is simply made up of a jelly-like substance. This flesh is less dense than water, so the blobfish naturally hovers above the ocean floor. Unlike most fish, it has no swim bladder as this air-filled organ would collapse under the extreme water pressure and blow the fish to pieces! It has been likened to the comic strip character Ziggy, but with its mouth permanently drooping at the corners. Blobfish have no teeth. No one has ever seen a blobfish eat. However, scientists believe that it feeds on crabs, sea urchins, sea pens and shellfish. Since it has no muscles, the blobfish cannot hunt, so it simply opens its mouth and sucks in whatever drifts by.

How blobfish mate remains a mystery. All that is known is that the female lays thousands of tiny pink eggs right on the ocean floor, and either she or her mate guard the eggs by “sitting on them until they hatch. This is the most efficient way for them to ensure the survival of their young, since there are no plants around to provide shelter for the eggs, or any caves where they can make a nest.

GCHQ Christmas card puzzle Take the test and see if you what it takes to be a spy Rather than a picture of a jolly Santa or a sprig of holly, GCHQ has hidden its festive greeting in a cryptic code Britain's spy agency has sent out a Christmas card (how nice!) - except it comes with an insanely irritating catch. Rather than a picture of a jolly Santa or a sprig of holly, GCHQ has hidden its festive greeting in a cryptic code. Patient participants must complete the grid to reveal an image.

Each row or column is labelled with a string of numbers which indicate the length of all consecutive runs of black squares, and are displayed in the order that the runs appear in that line. They give the example that a label "2 1 6" indicates sets of two, one and six black squares, each of which will have at least one white square separating them. Some of the squares are already coloured in supposedly to help. Once the puzzle has been solved the image then leads to a series of increasingly complex challenges. The puzzle has been sent out GCHQ director Robert Hannigan to his Christmas card list. If participants make it to the end they can email their answer to GCHQ. by 31st January

Chocolate Lovers Chocolate addicts better beware, their lunch snacks are about to get a lot more addictive from now on

They've been manufactured by Japanese chocolate specialists Bourbon and they're the next step for convenience lunches.

Chocolate slices have been invented, and they're something very special if you've got a sweet tooth.

They're made of 'nama chocolate', a rich mix of cream and cocoa, and they're as malleable as the cheese you remember from childhood barbecues

The sugary treats are wrapped individually like cheese slices, and are simply perfect for sandwiches - although obviously not for those on a health kick.

The chocolate is available on Bourbon's online store in 12s, with five slices in each pack. They're 3,240 yen, about ÂŁ17.60 The internet has gone into meltdown over these little slices of chocolate heaven

Cannabis An elderly couple innocently bought a shrub from a car boot sale - and ended up growing the biggest cannabis plant police had ever seen

Tax warning if you live in Spain! If you are paying tax as a non-resident, but live in Spain for more than 183 days a year, you should be a full-time resident! And if you are registered in the Town Hall (empadronamiento) and have a Spanish health card as well, you need to rectify your tax situation as the Tax Office may at any time require that you pay personal income tax in Spain as a tax resident on all your worldwide income! The Tax Office will also claim the fines if appropriate.

The pensioners, from Bedford, planted the drug in their garden, unaware that what they were growing was illegal. Police were astonished when they spotted the enormous plant and spoke of their shock discovery on their Twitter account, saying: "Seized today. Elderly couple bought shrub at car boot sale, tended carefully - biggest cannabis plant we had seen."

A spokesman for the force told the BBC the plant would be collected and disposed of, and that no action would be taken against the couple

Strictly fix BBC Tvs massively popular show Strictly Come Dancing has been rocked by allegations of mark-fixing and manipulation. Professional Ola Jordan – after 10 years the show’s longest-serving female dancer – announced recently that she was quitting, but has now told The Sun newspaper that she was ‘forced out’ by producers after saying she thought the voting was rigged. She now maintains the show’s judges manipulate the leader board to keep acts in the contest, and also claimed certain couples get preferential treatment when it comes to routines and song choices. Polish-born Ola, 33, whose dancer husband James left the show in 2013, said: “Some of the marking is way off. In my opinion the judges know how many votes people scored in the previous weeks and then they try to influence their position on the leader board. Why else would they over-mark someone? “All the pros talk about the marking. We ask each other, ‘What is all that about? “If the show is not fair, it takes the fun out of it.” The BBC has dismissed Ola’s “fix” accusations as “nonsense”. A spokesman said: “Each judge scores each dance independently, based on its merits and on their expert opinion.” Simon ill Coronation Street star Simon Gregson is to leave the popular Tv soap as he battles illness, according to several sources. He has been given indefinite time away from the soap, with fears that he may not return at all. Simon, 40, plays Rover’s Return pub landlord Steve McDonald and whilst his character fights the day-to-day pressures of suffering depression, it seems that real-life is mimicking the fiction as Simon battles his own illness. It has been reported that the storyline about Steve McDonald’s depression had left Simon drained and with his wife Emma expecting their third child, it looks like he will take time himself to get back to feeling one hundred percent.

Adele fright Comeback queen Adele has vowed to overcome her crippling stage fright to tour again next year. It will be a huge battle for the Oscar winner, who has revealed her nerves make her terrified that she will be unable to sing live. And she says she is sure to throw up before each show. The pop diva admitted: “I have the worst stage fright and yet I am dying to get on stage. It has been a long time.” Details of her upcoming USA concerts will be announced after Christmas, with a few UK dates set to be included. The megastar should have no problem filling seats on the tour. Just two hours after releasing her anticipated new single, it had already reached number one in the iTunes charts. The 26-year-old actor, famous for his portrayal of teen wizard Harry Potter, admitted when he travels to towns in Japan that he has to turn down the bizarre request because most of the girls are "frighteningly young". He explained to the Times magazine: "The craziest places are like Japan or Mexico. Often, the people who ask that (for him to sign their boobs) are frighteningly young and I just picture... no. Just no! Don't ask anyone that. No. Don't let anyone write on your chest." In the same interview, Daniel admitted to struggling with drink as he attempted to deal with fame. The child star has now been teetotal for two years after fears booze could end his acting career prematurely. He said: "People were saying, 'Well, this is going to be it for you, isn't it?' And the thought of all of those people being right was really scary. “I still smoke though; I still have vices!"

Murs out? Olly Murs has revealed he may not return to the X Factor in 2016. The singer, who hosts the show with Caroline Flack, said “who knows” if he will return to the show for a second season. "I want to get this series finished first and then everyone will sit down and discuss it," he told Metro. The singer has struggled to settle into the role and has been responsible for a number of blunders since the competition began. viewers dubbed Olly and Caroline’s Live Shows debut an "absolute shambles". Olly appears to be taking it on the chin. “Live television isn’t as easy as people think," he added. "I’d worked on The Xtra Factor for two years, so had some experience with live Tv but the main show is more serious." Caroline herself said that Dermot O’Leary, whom the pair replaced, was better for the job. “I admit we might not be at Dermot’s level right now, no one is better in my opinion," she confessed.

Nice Bike !

A Glass of Wine... To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and those who don't and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand, Ben Franklin said: "In wine there is wisdom, In beer there is freedom, In water there is bacteria.” In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually. However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine and beer (or rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and fermenting. Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. VERIFICATION: BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE DRINK A LOT OF WATER WHILE IN SESSION. THIS EXPLAINS THE RESULTS THEREIN

& t i u Fr Facts gus Veg Aspara Asparagus is not only delicious to eat, but it has a range of important health benefits too! It’s loaded with nutrients: asparagus is also a very good source of fibre, vitamins A, C, E and K, as well as chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells. This herbaceous plant—along with avocado, kale and Brussels sprouts—is a particularly rich source of glutathione, a detoxifying compound that helps break down carcinogens and other harmful compounds like free radicals. This is why eating asparagus may help protect against and fight certain forms of cancer, such as bone, breast, colon, larynx and lung cancers. Asparagus is packed with antioxidants, ranking among the top fruits and vegetables for its ability to neutralise cell-damaging free radicals. This, according to preliminary research, may help slow the ageing process. Another anti-ageing property of this delicious veggie is that it may help our brains fight cognitive decline. Like leafy greens, asparagus delivers folate, which works with vitamin B12 found in fish, poultry, meat and dairy - to help prevent cognitive impairment. In a study from Tufts University, older adults with healthy levels of folate and B12 performed better on a test of response speed and mental flexibility. (If you’re 50-plus, be sure you’re getting enough B12: your ability to absorb it decreases with age.) Folate is also highly critical for the healthy functioning of the heart. Another important aspect of asparagus is that it is considered to be a healthy food in promoting gut flora. It contains high levels of the amino acid asparagine, which serves as a natural diuretic, and increased urination not only releases fluid

but helps rid the body of excess salts. This is especially beneficial for people who suffer from oedema (an accumulation of fluids in the body's tissues) and those who have high blood pressure or other heart-related diseases. Enjoy your asparagus without salt, butter or sauces to get the most out of its diuretic properties, as salt can cause water retention in some people.

For Us Old People Are we the ones with dementia? Are we the ones who are aging? Really?? ONE - Recently, I went to McDonald's and I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets. 'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter. 'You don't?' I replied. 'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply. 'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?' 'That's right.' So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets (Unbelievable but sadly true...) (Must have been the same one I asked for sweetener and she said they didn't have any, only Splenda and sugar.) (And they think they are worth 8.00 per hour) TwO - I was checking out at the local ASDA with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those dividers that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the divider, looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?' I said to her 'I've changed my mind I don't think I'll buy that today.' She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened. (But the lady be hind me had a big smirk on her face as I left) ThREE - A woman at work was seen putting a credit card into her DvD drive and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM thingy. (Keep shuddering!!) FOUR - I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. 'Do you need some help?' I asked. She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door un-locker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?' Hmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm,

too?' I asked. 'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk....' FIVE - Several years ago, we had a temp who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, 'I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?' 'Just use paper from the photocopier', the secretary told her. With that, the temp took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five blank copies. A Brunette, by the way!! SIX - A mother calls 999 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid had eaten ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and he should be fine, the mother says, 'I just gave him some ant killer......' Dispatcher: 'Rush him in to emergency right now!' Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid!!!!

Interpretation There was this Chinese girl at a travel agency when I was in Shanghai... I asked her if she could escort me for a city tour and asked for her mobile number, so I could call her to make arrangements. She got excited and said: "Sex sex sex, wan free sex for tonigh" Wow, I'm guessing this is how Chinese women express their hospitality! But then my friend interpreted it for me and told me what she really said: 666 136 429...... Ah well, never mind

People Who Come And Go People Who Come And Go – John and Elaine Most people think and deliberate for months, often years, before they even make the decision to come over to Spain to tentatively look for a house. They might make many trips, and change their minds, and deliberate and think some more…. Not John and Elaine! With an established business in the UK that practically runs itself and oozing with enthusiasm for life, they just made a decision – “wouldn’t it be fun to buy a little house in Spain?” “yes, let’s book a flight and buy one!” And, some months later, here they are! Their delightful and immaculate 2 bedroom house in the stunning countryside near Canillas de Aceituno was sold ready to go and fully furnished, and no sooner had they bought it, but they decided they would move out permanently. I asked them how they like living on a mountain. “It is total bliss,” says Elaine. The views are wonderful and the peace is quite enlightening. And yet we are still only 25 minutes from the beach! We love it!” Now, with broadband internet available in almost any location, a new opportunity is opening out to anyone who just needs a laptop and

an internet connection to do their job or run their business from a distance, and more and more people are taking advantage of this and making the move. been now Having buying the through process I asked John what advice he would give other people thinking of buying or moving here. “I would say stop dreaming about it and just come over and LIvE the dream! There are plenty of lovely places to rent if buying is not for you, too. Make sure you have a good person to lead you through the buying process if you do buy. Our agent made the whole process seem effortless.” We very much hope this bubbly couple will fit in very well in their new community! By Toni Waterman, Unspoilt Andalusia (see advertisement below)

Spectre is the twenty-fourth James Bond film. It features Daniel Craig in his fourth performance as James Bond. With a budget around $245 million, it is the most expensive Bond film and one of the most expensive films ever made. The story sees James Bond pitted against the global criminal organisation SPECTRE, tying Craig's series of films together with an overarching storyline. Spectre was released on 26 October 2015 in the United Kingdom. It was released in the United States on 6 November 2015. It became the second James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues after Skyfall, although it was not

filmed with IMAX cameras. Spectre received positive to mixed reviews upon its release; it was criticised for its length, lack of screen time for new characters and writing, but received praise for the cast's acting, the direction, action sequences, cinematography and score. As of 18 December 2015, Spectre has grossed over $823 million worldwide Star Rating: *****/*****

) : a h a Jokes h I rang my mate Stan and his wife answered: "I wanted to wish you and Stan a good holiday," I said. "You fly from Gatwick tomorrow, don't you?" She said, "Stansted." "Blimey," I said, "he seemed absolutely fine in the pub last night." ------------------------------------------------------------Shit!! What a start to the day, I was attacked whilst in the Pharmacy across the road. Some Psychopath in there was screaming and shouting and threw the contents of a carton of Omega 3 tablets at must have weighed 5 kilos BANG! right in the face..... Luckily the Pharmacist was medically trained and I am OK. He said I had only suffered super fish oil injuries. ------------------------------------------------------------My dog only responds to commands in Spanish. He's Espanyol.... ------------------------------------------------------------Please remember a doggy is not just for christmas... Its a great position all the year round!! ------------------------------------------------------------A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem. The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss. Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response." That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens." Then in a normal tone he asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?" No response. So, the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again he gets no response. So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again, there is no response. So, he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?" "Clyde, for the fifth time... CHICKEN!" ------------------------------------------------------------Three men die on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates. "In honour of this holy season," Saint Peter said,"You must each possess something that symbolises Christmas to get into heaven." The Englishmen fumbles through his pockets and pulls out a lighter, he flicks it on and says, "Look,a candle." "You may pass through the pearly gates," says Saint Peter. The Scotsman roots into his pockets and pulls out a set of keys, shakes them and says, "They're bells." Saint Peter says, "You may pass through the pearly gates." The Irishman starts desperately rummaging through his pockets and finally pulls out a pair of women's knickers. Saint Peter looks at the man with a raised eyebrow and asks,"And just what do those symbolise about Christmas?" Paddy replies,"These are Carol's." And so the Christmas Season begins......... ------------------------------------------------------------A little boy asks his dad: 'Where does poo come from?' His dad explains that food passes down the oesophagus to the stomach, where digestive enzymes induce a probiotic reaction in the alimentary canal; this reaction extracts protein before waste products descend via the colon and rectum to emerge as 'poo'. Blimey, says the little boy 'And what about Tigger?'

"We did her mash!" sang me and the kids. "That's terrible," she replied. "Are they mov-

ing?" "I'm not sure, to be honest," I said, "But that would explain the suitcase." ------------------------------------------------------------I used to be in a band called 'Missing Cat'. Asks the man behind the counter. "Yes," replies Paddy, "It's going to be a barbecue." "That's a lot of bricks for one barbecue," says the man. Paddy says, "Not really, I live on the 18th floor!" ------------------------------------------------------------I rang the vets earlier and said, "My ostrich isn't well, his head is drooping to one side.
