m Fro Ed... the I’m now here in Spain with my husband after a 10 day trip which began with us flying from Montana to LA, and then on to London. On our extended journey across three different countries, I couldn’t help but notice all the challenges that people are going through in their lives right now. There is a definite trend towards people’s karmic situations rising to the forefront in order to finally be cleared. So, if you feel this way too right now – like you’re going through a difficult, almost ‘sticky-feeling’ time – then know in your heart that it’s all in your best interests so that your amazing, lighter, brighter future can begin to emerge. It’s no surprise that Easter falls in the month of April, which has historically been a time of new beginnings. My prediction is that between April and July many of us will experience vast changes in our lives, and new projects, situations and partners will begin to emerge. Apart from noticing all the issues and challenges that people are generally up against right now, I couldn’t help but also notice that it was particularly chilly in the UK during the seven days I was there for. There was a biting wind which went right through to the bones. The weather in itself made me realise why I don’t live there anymore! Coupled with the angry-atlife taxi driver who got mad at me because I didn’t have English pounds on me after flying from the USA, in a day and age when every business has a card reader, my pact was sealed. Never again will I ever live in the UK. Not on purpose anyway!

Strange News of years. So far, the only place which has caught my attention in terms of permanent living potential is a little town called Ojai in California, about an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles. Aside from that, this part of Spain always feels like home to me and it does come with lots of added benefits. So count yourself lucky that you live in this beautiful part of the world, even when the challenges do arise…

wrong track - Early morning commuters on the Dortmund underground railway got a surprise-when a Ford Focus pulled into the station instead of a train. The driver, 31-year-old offduty soldier, was drunk and had got lost around 5am. He had followed a tram into a tunnel, somehow managing to ignore warning signs and also the fact the road gave way to a train track. U-Bahn trains in Dortmund run as trams for stretches on city streets above ground, before returning underground. The man stopped at the first station he came to, blocking the line. "I was in a nightclub, and like a real dummy I got behind the wheel," he told Bild newspaper. "After that my memory's blank. All I remember is two policemen approaching me on the platform." U-Bahn staff had to push the car back up out of the station by hand, and service was interrupted for several hours. The hapless driver only had a provisional licence, which he has now lost. ------------------------------------------------------------knock-out Blow - A would-be car thief tried to throw a brick through a car window – only for it to bounce back and knock him unconscious. The incident, in Drogheda, Ireland, was caught on CCTV video which was later used by police to establish exactly what happened. The owner of the Mercedes car came out to investigate and saw the man lying in a pool of his own blood. "When the Gardaí picked him up, he started claiming that I attacked him. He was still telling them that in the station when I came in with the footage of him getting knocked out by his own brick," he said. ------------------------------------------------------------Take the biscuit - An Ayrshire woman could not believe her eyes when she saw what a hotel brought her after she ordered cheese and biscuits. Dianne Murray expected the usual choice of dry biscuits such as crackers and oatcakes, with a selection of cheeses. Instead she was handed a bowl of bourbons, custard creams and jammie dodgers alongside generous chunks of brie and cheddar. A tweet of the creation has gone viral after being shared on Twitter, and a number of people have responded positively to Scotland's bizarre new culinary addition. The hotel has not yet been named but Mrs Murray has offered to identify it if donations are made to Comic Relief.

De Cotta Law Sharing a pension on divorce In the UK courts there are provisions for sharing a pension or splitting a pension on divorce. In England this is either by a Pension Sharing Order or a Pension Splitting Order. This can be very important where the couple have agreed that one of them does not work and matrimonial assets including a pension are built up over a number of years. If there are funds available the pension right can be offset by payment of a lump sum. However if the principal assets have been divided 50/50 and there is only the pension to deal with it is very important to get advice before coming to a financial settlement in Spain. This is because if you divorce outside the UK it can be extremely difficult to then bind a UK based pension company to share or split the pension. Failure to deal with this issue in a divorce heard

in Spain means that you would need to commence an action in the UK. In England the procedure after a foreign divorce is to apply under the Matrimonial Proceedings Act 1984 in what is commonly called a Part III application. To do this an application has to be made to the High Court in London with the attendant expense and delays. It can be more practical to apply for the divorce in England to include an application for Pension sharing if there is agreement. Before applying to the courts of Spain or of the UK for a divorce it is important to get advice about your particular circumstances. This is even more vital if there are pension rights to decide. Easter Games Apart from the usual Easter Egg Hunt, try these two games this Easter and watch your children have fun! The wolf and the Eggs One player is the wolf and the others are Easter eggs. Before the game begins, the eggs decide what colour they are going to be. Usually the older kids choose colours with longer names and leave the easier colours for the younger kids. The eggs then face the wolf, who begins to guess colours. If the wolf guesses a player's colour, that player must step forward one step, spell the colour, and then run a predetermined route before running back to the other players, called the "basket." If the egg makes it back to the basket, he chooses a new colour, and play continues. If the wolf tags the egg before he gets back to the basket, that player becomes the wolf. This variation on a traditional outdoor game can be played yearround, not just at Easter.

Egg Roll Each child is given a hard-boiled Easter egg. The object is to get it from the starting line to the finish line. There are several ways to roll the egg. The White House version allows the kids to push it with a spoon. An alternative is to push the egg with the feet without cracking the shell. Alternately, the kids can be instructed to get on their hands and knees and push their eggs with their noses. The egg roll can be held outside if the weather is nice, or inside if the weather doesn't co-operate.

Interesting Facts - Military rule, corruption, a huge wealth gap, crime and natural disasters have rendered Honduras one of the least developed countries in Central America. Once part of Spain's vast empire in the New World, Honduras became an independent nation in 1821. American writer O. Henry first applied the term “Banana Republic” to Honduras. The economy was dominated, until the mid-20th century, by foreign-owned banana companies that wielded outsized influence in politics and controlled wide swaths of land. Still a major exporter of the fruit, Honduras is also Central America's second biggest coffee producer. Honduras has a youthful population; 50% are under the age of 19. Honduras was devastated by Hurricane Mitch in 1998. At least 5,000 people were killed and 70% of the country's crops were destroyed. The damage was estimated at $3bn, setting development back by decades.

Funnies :) The Stork - The teacher was telling the kids about the birds and the bees and she explained that when a man and a woman meet and fall in love, nine months later the stork usually brings them a little baby from its nest. Little Gemma at the back of the class put her hand up and asks the teacher, "Are you sure about the stork, miss? I think you’re getting your birds mixed up 'cos my big sister just got a little baby and she said it was from a shag in Scarborough........

Linea Directa REGISTERING YOUR VEHICLE IN SPAIN. SPANISH LICENSE PLATES AND REGISTRATION DOCUMENT Registering a non-Spanish vehicle in Spain is a complex and potentially costly procedure. However, you may be exempt from Spanish registration tax by getting Spanish number plates within one month of entering the country. But to do this, you need to become a resident. Linea Directa has been insuring expat drivers in Spain for over a decade and understands all the steps involved. Below we outline this process. STEP 1: OBTAININg A CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY This is a statement by the car’s manufacturer that it conforms to EU regulations. You will need the car’s chassis number to complete this straightforward process online at The charges for this service will vary according to type of vehicle, make and country of 1st registration. STEP 2: CURRENT LOg BOOk The vehicle’s original log book showing your name as the owner, the vehicles age and a valid UK address. You will also need the bill of sale for the car. STEP 3: RESIDENCY IN SPAIN The Spanish residency certificate (Certificado de Empadronamiento) is your official proof of residency in Spain. Your local town hall can provide you with this document. You will need to take your passport and proof of Spanish address (rental contract, contract to purchase or property deeds). STEP 4: OBTAININg A SPANISh MOT CERTIFICATE All vehicles over 4 years old must be roadworthy and clearly display a valid ITV sticker. The ITV (Vehicle Technical Inspection) must be tested at an authorised centre, just as for an MOT test. You can find out the location of your nearest ITV centre on DGT website (equivalent to the DVLA). You can also call your local centre to make a booking. If the centre is busy, especially pre-summer, this can save a lot of time. The cost can vary but generally is around 40€ for petrol-engine cars and 56€ for diesel-engine cars. STEP 5: OBTAININg A SPANISh EQUIVALENT OF A TAX DISC The Spanish Tax Agency can provide your ve-

hicle with a valid “tax disc” for Spain, which must be carried in the car when in use. You will need to complete the relevant form online and pay the amount according to your car’s tax band. You can carry out all these procedures yourself or you can seek the assistance of an accountant to do this for you. we hope the information provided in this article is of interest. iPhone 5C Explodes Man left with third-degree burns after iPhone 5C explodes in his pocket Erik Johnson said he was bending over to get keys when he heard a popping noise before his

Mr Johnson, from Long Island, New York, then had to spend ten days at a specialist burns unit after the mobile melted through his trousers and stuck to his skin. He now has to have the bandages on the massive wound he was left with on his thigh changed twice a day by nurses. Photos show how the extreme temperature even melted the screen and fused the plastic of the phone with its metal case. Damaged circuit boards is one of the reasons a mobile can blow up.

He said: "My leg just started going on fire. "'I had to rip my pants off. A couple of people actually said they could smell my body burning. "It felt like when you're branding a bull or something like that."

Another is if the wrong charger is used , but Mr Johnson says this wasn't the case and is now suing Apple. Apple users took to social media to express their shock. The company has not yet responded to the allegations.

Known for THE BEST CLIMATE IN EUROPE, Axarquia has some of the best weather conditions in the world. It isn’t any wonder that millions of people visit this beautiful area every year! The Mediterranean sea to the south and sheltered magnificent mountain ranges to the north, Axarquia sits within the Malaga Province of Andalucia. The following pages feature some of the beautiful towns and villages of this superb and picturesque area.

Benamargosa is located in the river valley of the same name some 15 kilometres inland from Velez-Málaga on the costa del Sol and about a half an hour´s drive by motorway from Málaga. The valley is practically evergreen and almost like an oasis in summertime, due to the plantations of avocado and citrus fruits lining the river. The village centre is 90 metres above sea level and the hills rising up along the side of the river reach 550 metres. Thanks to the warm climate of the area, it is possible to achieve more than one harvest. Traditional vineyards are to be found in the hills surrounding the village, growing the famous Málaga grapes used to make the well known sweet wines of the region. The traditional cultivation of olives, almonds and carob is gradually being replaced by the mango. Fiesta del Campo - 19th April A gastronomical festivity that coincides with the arrival of the spring. Peasants from Axarquía show the best of their harvests. You can taste the best products in the Mediterranean diet: avocado smoothie, cateta salad, callus, garlic cod… in several stands located all over the village. In addition, a huge paella will be made for all, local people and visitors - so pop along for a fun day out.

Please mention The Sentinella when responding to adverts Canillas de Albaida walls about hip height a legacy of bumps and grinds!

Canillas de Albaida (pronounced Al beye da) is part of the Sun and Wine route and is situated 52 kilometres from Malaga and 24 kilometres from Vélez-Málaga. The name Albaida means white and was named by the arabs who founded the village in the 13th century, because according to legend the town was surrounded by white flowers! Situated on the Sierra Almijara mountain range on the borders of the provinces of Malaga and Granada, the village is surrounded by high mountains where goats and eagles are frequently seen as well as wild boar. Here the fresh mountain air is filled with the scent of pine and oak and nearby is the Acantilados de Maro Nature Reserve with its gorse, rosemary and the increasingly rare sea lavender. So altogether a fragrant area. Like most of the villages in the Axarquía the streets are narrow and steep and cars not only look out of place but have problems fitting through. Different coloured paint on the house

Do visit the public laundry, built in 1956, an oasis of cool against the scorching summer heat, filled with plants and the sound of running water. Important monuments worth a visit are Nuestra Señora de la Expectacion , which is in the Plaza Nuestra Señora del Rosario and as buildings go, in total contract to the very modern Ayuntamiento on the other side of the square. Also the Santa Ana Hermitage, built at the highest point of the village with the most spectacular views. Opposite the town itself and just past the municipal swimming pool is the San Antón Hermitage which was built in the 17th century. It stands alone and quietly humble with its simple bell tower but has an allure that makes you stop and visit a while. If hunger takes hold while you are there, do sample the local dish of Migas, made with both corn and wheat and also try the fried pumpkin. To tempt your tastebuds further the local Moscatel wine is excellent. To get to Canillas de Albaida you can either carry on instead of stopping at Cómpeta, drive up the hill from Archez or down the hill from Salares. I hate to give road numbers because I have found that what is written on the maps is different from what is written on the road signs which is not very helpful. Whichever way you choose to drive there it will take you about half an hour from the coast

People Who Come And Go Sue and Doug – living and working on their own private tourist complex, now for sale Nestling in the lower hills of La Maroma, below the village of Canillas de Aceituno is a most unusual property. A beautiful rural holiday complex made up of the main owner’s house, a 2 bedroom garden apartment and three self contained studio apartments, all situated in beautiful gardens and around a pool. This delightful country retreat has been the home of tourist specialists, Sue and Doug, for a decade. Their original idea was to run photographic and walking holidays from this beautiful location. “We just love the peace, just the sound of the birds, and the bells of the goats as they ramble by each day across the coun-

tryside.” The sunsets are wonderful from this little oasis of tranquility too and their many guests keep coming back. Due to Doug’s current illness, Sue is no longer able to cope on her own and they are forced now to drag themselves away from their little paradise and we hope very soon to have a confirmed buyer from the many interested parties to take over and get it up and running again, for the future enjoyment of everyone! Pies And Bienestar What to do with the extra kilos? That is a reasonable question many want answered. Women’s magazines are full of popular advice and, to lower general health costs, Governments spend resources on finding the solution. Common sense and logic tells us that if we eat too much and exercise too little we risk growing out of proportion. The real problem is more complex, but still not impossible to understand. The focus should be away from the number of kilos gained or lost. There are diets that make you lose weight while stressing the body unhealthily. Body fat weighs very little in comparison to bone, muscles, blood and water. Thus the number of overweight people is skyrocketing while, over the last 20 years, the consumption of fat has gone down almost 40%. That is why fad, or celebrity diets, does not work. They make you lose liquids and muscle more that fat. You lose weight and your health suffers. The pressures on the celebrities to always look their best make them abuse their bodies with destructive diets, pills and surgery. They look good for the moment but may later look like 90 years old when they are 70. It is necessary to change ones way of life. The current life style led to the condition. The state of

mind and physical condition is different for each individual. There is no solution that works for everyone. Some people look for food that does not make them fat. Food without nutrition may be damaging to health. At the same time there are people who can eat anything without putting on an ounce of weight. Clearly we are different. There are basic nutritional rules to follow. Vitamins and minerals and other prerequisites that make it possible for the body to generate the energy necessary for physical, social and mental well-being. Having the metabolism working optimally, is crucial and means eating a balanced diet and feel stronger and more alive day by day without extra kilos preparing for future illnesses. Come and see us at Pies y Bienestar, Calle Pintada 73, for a free foot analysis and metabolism test and why not eat the healthy lunch of the week at Pingos across the street at the same time. Ways To Enjoy Life More In Spain Some suggestions... Learn Spanish! – Of course this is the most obvious but also the most important. Statistically speaking, most Spaniards don’t speak English, so if you have the ability to speak their language then this will make your life here more relaxed and enjoyable. Join a club – Wherever your interests lie, joining a club gives you access to a whole new group of people that you already have something in common with. get an intercambio – You will find that many Spanish are interested in improving their English especially the younger ones. Intercambios can be a great way for you as a foreigner not only to improve your Spanish-language skills, but meet a steady stream of Spaniards in a relaxed environment, and perhaps discover some new cafés in the process.

Take a class – An activity class can be a good way to learn or sharpen your skills, get in shape, and “get yourself out there” to meet some Spaniards. Consider joining a soccer/football team, taking up painting and drawing or salsa dancing. get to know your neighbours – Even if you’ve never even seen your neighbours before, now is a good enough time as any to introduce yourself. Have a coffee morning with your English and Spanish friends.

Extreme Endurance Topless soldiers crawl through snow in brutal Chinese training regime

diers going topless for exercises in freezing temperatures of -10C.

State officials say military exercises this year will focus on "improving fighting capacity" to win "local wars".

The training took place in Heihe, in northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

These Chinese soldiers crawled through ice and poured buckets of snow on their heads in the most extreme endurance training imaginable.

Soldiers are shown on their hands and knees crawling through the ice, sprinting through thick snow and even pouring buckets of the white stuff over their heads. Amazingly, the soldiers seem unfazed, and in some pictures can be seen smiling through the pain. Others show them forming a human pyramid and flexing their muscles for the camera. Senior Colonel Yang Yujun said in January the PLA would be training this year in "a complex electro-magnetic environment in special terrains and during extreme weather conditions."

And this picture shows they mean business with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) sol-

Baarmy! Driver spots sheep in back of Volvo being driven through London John Bowden, 44, was returning home from visiting his grandmother when he saw the animal staring back at him through the back window estate car in front on the busy South Circular road.

"My wife said 'I've seen it all now'. "As we came up through Streatham we overtook the car. "Which was being driven by an old bloke. "He had a white hair and white moustache - he was all in white like the sheep." Mr Bowden, a street ambassador for the Heart of London Business Alliance, said the photos have cause a stir among his pals since he uploaded them on Facebook. One of this friends said he thought the sheep might be 'Amy the Sheep' the mascot who is believed to be the mascot of St George's Children's Hospital in Tooting.

Mr Bowden, of Hackbridge, Sutton, said neither he or his wife could believe their eyes when they pulled up at traffic lights in Herne Hill. He said: "We had just pulled up at the cross roads and I thought, hold on that's a sheep in the back of a Volvo.

The car also had a sticker on the back window which read: "I love sheep." If you know the identity of this sheep get in touch with us at The sighting comes after it emerged earlier this year that a 'sheep cafe' had opened up in South Korean.

The Greek Problem The Greek Bailout - (an adaption of an old story! .. But worth a read again) It is a slow day in a little Greek Village. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the taverna. The publican slips the money along to the local

prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note. The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the €100 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole village is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how the bailout package works………..

Best Ever Senior Citizen Joke

This is brilliant A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbour and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started." Her neighbour asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The little silver haired lady says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster." Her neighbour decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster." He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh ........... "Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."

Random Joke :)

Recipe Of The Month

A priest decided to do something a little different. He said “Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach.. Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever Hymn that comes to your mind The pastor shouted out “Cross.” Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, ‘The old rugged cross..' The pastor hollered out “Grace.” The congregation began to sing ‘Amazing Grace’, how sweet the sound..' The pastor said “Power.” The congregation sang 'There is power in the blood.' The Pastor said “Sex” The congregation fell into total silence. Everyone was in shock. They all nervously began to look around at each other afraid to say anything. Then all of a sudden, way from in the back of the church, a little old 87 year old grandmother stood up and began to sing “Memories.” Gotta Love Little Old Ladies.

Golf Funnies Some fuuny bits about the beautiful game.... A husband and wife are on the 9th green when suddenly she collapses from a heart attack! "Help me dear," she groans to her husband. The husband calls 911 on his cell phone, talks for a few minutes, picks up his putter, and lines up his putt. His wife raises her head off the green and stares at him. "I'm dying here and you're putting?" "Don't worry dear," says the husband calmly, "they found a doctor on the second hole and he's coming to help you." "Well, how long will it take for him to get here?" she asks feebly. "No time at all," says her husband. "Everybody's already agreed to let him play through." ------------------------------------------------------------The bride was escorted down the aisle and when she reached the altar, the groom was standing there with his golf bag and clubs at his side. She said: "What are your golf clubs doing here?" He looked her right in the eye and said, "This isn't going to take all day, is it?"

------------------------------------------------------------A young man and a priest are playing together. At a short par 3 the priest asks, "What are you going to use on this hole, my son?" The young man says, "An 8 iron, father. How about you?" The priest says, "I'm going to hit a soft seven and pray." The young man hits his 8-iron and puts the ball on the green. The priest tops his 7 iron and dribbles the ball out a few yards. The young man says, "I don't know about you, father, but in my church, when we pray, we keep our head down." ------------------------------------------------------------A golfer teed up his ball on the first tee, took a mighty swing and hit his ball into a clump of trees. He found his ball and saw an opening between 2 trees he thought he could hit through. Taking out his 3-wood, he took a mighty swing. The ball hit a tree, bounced back, hit him in the forehead and killed him. As he approached the gates of Heaven, St. Peter asked, "Are you a good golfer?" The man replied: "Pretty good... got here in two."

Man Flu I would like you to inform your readers, that we are entering the time of year when Man Flu is at its most prevalent, now this is not to be confused with that mild form of sniffle that effects the female population. As a cure for this dastardly affliction is still far beyond medical science. I would like to offer a few words of advice. Take the person in question and place him either in bed, or in his favourite chair. It is very important that he must be facing a TV and the remote control close to hand. A copy of the newspaper is also handy. Every 15 minutes or so, ask him if he requires a cup of tea, or possibly a bacon sandwich. A small bell would be nice but it is not mandatory. Comments like.” Do you want a doctor, or would you prefer a drama critic. I hear that the Bafta nominations are due in.” Or as I was informed. “That paint you bought over a year ago to do the villa. Why don't you start now, it will take your mind of it.” These comments are most unhelpful. Why is it that if a female has a sniffle, she has

a box of tissues and yet I am given a bog roll? I like to make a pile of twenty or thirty dirty pieces on the coffee table before I move them. It is called, economy of movement. Yet my wife appears to take this as a person insult. Does this woman not realise that I am at deaths door. At times there appears to be a vast discrepancy between things that affect men and women. There is only a third of the money spent on testicular cancer research, compared with breast cancer. Yet more men die through this than women die through breast cancer. Does this mean that women's dangley bits are more important than men's dangley bits. I think not! In conclusion. They say that child birth is one of the most stressful things a woman can go through. Yet they are given, gas, air and all manor of different drugs to stop there discomfort. I sometime wonder how they would manage, if there was such a thing a “Women flu?” Written by A Grumpy Old Geordie

Helping Axarquia Monthly Update How the Spanish tax reform affects the declaration of foreign pensions A pensioner who is a resident for tax purposes in Spain is not obliged to file an income tax return if their income does not exceed 22,000 Euros. However, if they receive a foreign pension, this threshold is fixed at 11,200 Euros per year. In effect, the Spanish law on income tax says that any fiscal resident in Spain shall declare income tax for their worldwide income, regardless of its origin.

approved by Parliament, has allowed for a special ‘amnesty’ period during which people can voluntarily regularise their tax liabilities and pay any resulting bill without sanctions, surcharge and interest that may otherwise be applied.

As a result of computer systems updating – and especially due to communication improvements between different, mainly European, countries – the Spanish Tax Agency can be informed of taxpayers receiving foreign pensions, as well as their payment references and amounts. Consequently, control and inspection actions can be carried out to verify if taxpayers have declared in Spain the amounts received from these pension schemes.

The information provided in this article is not intended to be legal advice, but merely conveys general information related to legal issues.

Random Joke :) An Italian boy’s confession 'Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl'. The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano? 'Yes, Father, it is.' 'And who was the girl you were with?' 'I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation'. ‘Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti? 'I cannot say.' 'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?' 'I'll never tell.' 'Was it Nina Capelli?' 'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.' 'Was it Cathy Piriano?' 'My lips are sealed.' 'Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?' 'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.' The priest sighs in frustration. 'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.'Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, 'What'd you get?Four months vacation and five good leads.'

The desert pupfish is a small, silvery-coloured fish with 6 to 9 dark bands on its sides. It grows to a full average length of only 2.5 inches. Pupfish got their name because they seemed as playful as puppies. They can be found along the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean coastlines. They are also found scattered throughout deserts in northern Mexico and the Southwestern US, where they live in warm desert pools, marshes, streams and springs. Some species are endangered.

descent blue in colour and defend their territory, chasing away all other fish except females that are ready to spawn. Spawning starts towards the end of February and continues through summer. The various species of pupfish serve as evidence that a series of prehistoric desert lakes were once interconnected, and these tiny fish can be traced back 20,000 years. They are what some biologists call "living fossils" because they represent a group of animals that lived on the Earth many thousands of years ago.

They can survive in temperatures up to 100 degrees, but as temperatures become extreme toward summer, evaporation dries up most pools and streams, resulting in the deaths of most of the pupfish. A few survive in the small number of pools, streams and springs that do not dry up completely. Pupfish survive by tolerating environmental extremes of temperature and salinity. The water can be so cold it has ice in it (0°C) and nearly so hot it almost boils (close to 100°C)! They can also survive in water that has three times the salinity of the ocean. Pupfish develop quickly, sometimes reaching full maturity within 2 to 3 months. Although their average life span is 6 to 9 months, some survive more than one year.

Day For Life - Sunday 26th April

New Poetry Corner

Fun family day in aid of Cudeca cancer care

Verses for my island

The day will commence at 10.45am with the annual 5km sponsored walk, for those who wish to participate – around the village of Competa, finishing at The Alberdini Rural Hotel, Pago la Lomilla 85, Competa. 952 516 294.

Small and sweet like a sugar grain, Where breeze brushes every hair and leaf, North birds become a loyal swain, When they find the land of relief.

The idea first started in 2006 as sadly many of us had lost friends and family to cancer. Instead of travelling back to the UK to join a “Race for Life” in aid of Cancer Research UK where annually up to 750,000 participate at one of the numerous venues across various towns and cities across the UK, we decided to arrange a local event “Walk for Life” and support Cudeca hospice. Little did we think when we started that our event would now be celebrating a decade of Walk for Life and raised over 34,000 euros. For our celebration this year, we’d like everyone to join in by either dressing up as a sunflower or walk wearing the colours of Cudeca, green and/or yellow. There will be three separate prizes for the best dressed female, male and youngster. As always, it is free to join our walk, all I please ask is that you try and obtain as much sponsor money as possible or make a donation. Please contact me, Cindy Jones 665 156 467 or email for a sponsor form.

Bless the views, the brinded beauty, The sun, sand, sea, sky, stone and fire, Where freedom is the sole duty, The last dream all men desire.

The “Day for Life” fun begins from 12noon onwards at The Alberdini with lots of entertainment for both adults and children. There will be an opportunity to try Hoopla, Tin Can Alley, Pin the Poo and Cover the Bottle and win a prize generously sponsored by Competa local businesses, also a Darts competition kindly sponsored, once again by Pavo Real. Together with numerous stalls for you to meander around, the ever popular home-made cake stall, handmade jewellery, home-made soaps, bargains at the Bric a Brac, wooden carvings, local produce and of course, an amazing Raffle Stall. All this, plus a full programme of musical entertainment including Andy Time whilst enjoying a Paellagigante and at the same time helping Cudeca. It is a charitable organisation that provides palliative care to the terminally ill cancer sufferers within the province of Malaga. Cudeca receives very little public funding instead they entirely depend on initiatives for raising money to ensure they can continue to provide the “special kind of caring” to those who need specialist palliative care. Cudeca also support your local area of Nerja and Competa with a monthly cancer support group, contact details below. Cindy Jones Tel 665 156 467 Facebook: Competa-Day-For-Life

According to the faux-news reports that open the film, the police force in near-future Johannesburg, South Africa has been replaced with humansized and heavily-armed robots that, while not indestructible, are powerful enough to have inspired a steep drop in the crime rate. Deon (Dev Patel), the designer who created the robot cops stumbles upon a way of endowing machines with true artificial intelligence so that they can learn, create and feel just like humans. This does not go over particularly well with his boss (Sigourney Weaver) and so, using the remains of bombed-out bot Scout 22, he decides to conduct some off-base experiments, arousing the suspicions of nasty office rival Vincent (Hugh Jackman), whose own prototype for a crime-fighting robot has been shunted aside, partly because of the success of Deon's creation and partly because his creation looks like the ED-209 sans the gazellelike grace and is controlled by a virtual-reality helmet that makes the user look like a participant in "VR.5" cosplay. Alas, Deon is kidnapped by a trio of low-level thugs—who are convinced that he has the ability to switch off all the robot cops so that they can commit a $20 million heist in order to repay a pressing debt to a violent local drug lord. Deon cannot do that but when they discover that he has a robot with him, they demand that he get it running so that they can use it for their own purposes. Deon successfully installs his AI program and revives the robot, now dubbed Chappie. And the story continues from there…. The basic questions posed in this film is can a machine somehow develop consciousness and, if so, what does that mean for humanity? "Chappie,” is an exhausting slog through overly familiar cliches that is nowhere near as profound or touching as it clearly thinks it is. Star Rating: **/*****

) : a h a Jokes h A man had two of the best tickets for the Rugby World Cup Final. As he sits down, another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No ...." he says, "The seat is empty." "This is incredible” said the man, "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Rugby Cup Final, the biggest sporting event of the Rugby World and not use it ?” He says, "Well actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Cup Final we haven't been to, together, since we got married "Oh! I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else, a friend, or relative, or even a neighbour, to take the seat ?" The man shakes his head "No ...... . They're all at the funeral." ------------------------------------------------------------The Priest of a small village was very fond of his flock of ten hens and a cockerel. He kept them in a hen house behind the parish, but one Saturday night, the cockerel was missing. The priest, suspecting fowl play decided to say something about it at church the next morning. At Mass, he asked the congregation, has anyone got a cock? To which all the men stood up. "No,no," he said, somewhat flustered, "That's not what I meant. Has anybody SEEN a cock?" All the women stood up. "No, no," he said. "Thats not what I meant either. Has anyone seen a cock that doesn't belong to them." Half the women stood up. "No, no," he said, now thoroughly embarrassed "Perhaps I should re-phrase the question: Has anybody here seen MY cock?" All the choirboys stood up. ------------------------------------------------------------A man and his wife have gone to bed. After laying there a few minutes the man farts and says,

"1 - 0" His wife rolls over and says, "What in the world was that?" The man replied, "It's fart football... I just scored." A few minutes later the wife lets one go and says, "1 - 1" After about five minutes the old man farts again and says, "I’m ahead 2 - 1" Not to be out done the wife rips another one and says, "Touchdown, tie score." Five seconds go by and she lets out a squeaker and says, "Not for long! 2 - 2" Now the pressure's on and the old man refuses to get beat by a woman so he strains real hard but to no avail. Realizing a defeat is totally unacceptable, he gives it everything he has, but instead of farting, he poops the bed. The wife looks and says, "What the heck was that?" The man replied, "Half-time, switch sides." ------------------------------------------------------------Six nuns are washing themselves all together when the doorbell rings. One nun goes to the door and says 'Who is it?' An elderly gentleman replies "It's the blind man from the village" So the nun shouts to the others, "Don't worry it's just the blind man from the village, I'll let him in." She lets him in and goes "How can we help?" The gent replies "I'm just going to go measure your blinds, but nice tits" ------------------------------------------------------------How do you kill a circus clown? Go for the juggler! ------------------------------------------------------------A redhead tells her blonde stepsister, "I slept with a Brazilian...." The blonde replies, "Oh my God! You slut! How many is a brazilian?"

Jokes h a ha :) Little Johnny is a gambler. One day his dad gets a new job so his family has to move to a new city. Johnny's daddy thinks, "I'll get a head start on Johnny's gambling." So he calls the teacher and says, "My son Johnny will be starting your class tomorrow but he likes to gamble so you'll have to keep an eye on him." The teacher says OK, she can handle it. The next day Johnny walks into class and hands the teacher an apple and says, "Hi, my name is Johnny." She says yes I know who you are. Johnny smiles and says, "I bet you 10€ you've got a mole on your butt." The teacher thinks that she will break his little gambling problem so she takes him up on the bet. She pulls her pants down and shows him her butt and there was no mole. That afternoon, Johnny goes home and tells his dad that he lost 10€ to the teacher and why. So his dad calls the teacher and says, "Johnny said that he bet you that you had a mole on your butt and he lost." The teacher says, "Yeah, and I think I broke his gambling problem." Johnny's dad laughs and says, "No you didn't, he bet me a 100€ this morning that he'd see your ass before the day was over." ------------------------------------------------------------Little Johnny sees his Daddy's car passing the playground and going into the woods. Curious, he follows the car and sees Daddy and Aunt Jane kissing. Johnny finds this so exciting and can barely contain himself as he runs home and starts to tell his mother excitedly. "MUMMY, MUMMY, I WAS AT THE PLAYGROUND AND DADDY AND...." Mummy tells him to slow down, but that she

wants to hear the story. So Johnny tells her. "I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went to look and Daddy was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt, then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane laid down on the seat, then Daddy...." At this point, Mummy cut him off and said, "Johnny, this is such an interesting story, suppose you save the rest of it for supper time. I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight." At the dinner table, Mummy asks Johnny to tell his story. He describes the car into the woods, the undressing, laying down on the seat, and, "Then Daddy and Aunt Jane did that same thing Mummy and Uncle Jeff used to do when Daddy was in the Army." ------------------------------------------------------------Nursery school teacher says to her class, "Who can use the word 'Definitely' in a sentence?" First a little girl says "The sky is definitely blue" Teacher says, "Sorry, Amy, but the sky can be grey or orange..." Second little boy..."Trees are definitely green" "Sorry, but in the autumn, the trees are brown." Little Johnny from the back of the class stands up and asks:"Does a fart have lumps?" The teacher looks horrified and says..."Johnny! Of course not!!!" "OK...then I DEFINITELY shit my pants..."
