Prof. Taha Özyürek
Biography Dr. Taha Özyürek is a graduate of Atatürk University, Faculty of Dentistry, where he received his DDS degree. He attended the Endodontics Program of Graduate Study offered by the Institute of Health Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University and graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Endodontics. He has been a chair and part-time associate professor at the Department of Endodontics, School of Dental Medicine at Bahçesehir University, since 2021. His areas of interest are the nickel-titanium file’s physical and chemical properties, endodontic microsurgery, and retreatment. Dr. Taha Özyürek has numerous original research articles in national and international peer-reviewed and indexed journals, especially about the mechanical properties of nickel-titanium files. He is working as a reviewer for many indexed international journals. He is an active member of the Turkish Dental Association (TDB), the Turkish Endodontic Society (TED), and the European Society of Endodontology (ESE). Minimally Invasive Root Canal Therapy Thanks to the developing irrigation activation systems, it has become possible to clean the root canal system by minimizing the root canal shaping procedures. Due to the increase in the clinical incidence of root fractures and cracks, the prognosis of root canal-treated teeth decreases. For these reasons, it is necessary to be more conservative in root canal shaping and increase the intensity of irrigation activation methods in clinical practice. This lecture will discuss minimal, conservative, simple, and safe root canal shaping and irrigation activation techniques that we can apply in the clinic, considering the current literature.
Prof. Roberto Estévez Biography Degree in Dentistry by European University of Madrid (Spain). Postgraduate program in Endodontics by European University of Madrid. Since the introduction of NiTi at the end of the 80s in endodontics, many changes have been produced in their design, trying to improve mechanical preparation by reducing errors. Recently, and more than 30 years after the first NiTi instrument, the sixth generation instruments appear. They are characterized, among other things, by the following: two or more alloys in the same rotary system; an adequate relationship between torsion and flexibility, and the presence of a reduced maximum flute diameter. During the oral presentation, we try to review the changes that have been introduced in the new instruments, review what the literature tells us about it, and analyze, from the clinical point of view, what they can provide us in the preparation of the root canal system. How to improve the efficiency of irrigants in small root canal preparations New brands currently try to design conservative instruments in their coronal part, increasing the resistance to fracture, as long as it is accompanied by a conservative access. Despite the continuous evolution of NiTi around the world, we must never forget the goal of root canal treatment, which is to prevent or treat apical periodontitis. Despite all efforts, achieving a complete disinfection of the root canal system is a complicated task. If we add to this the fact that our preparations today tend to be smaller, it is necessary to improve the exchange of our irrigants in the critical area of the canal, in its most apical third. During the oral presentation, we will review the literature about root canal preparations with reduced MFD, and how they recommend us to improve the efficiency of the irrigants. Finally, by showing cases reports, we will be able to verify how more conservative preparations do not imply a limitation of the effectiveness of our irrigants.

One of the biggest secrets in modern Endodontics is trying to simplify protocols safely, ensuring better treatments in a single session. In my talk I will share all my steps from the beginning to the end of the treatment, giving tips and tricks. I’m going to show you how to use rotary files effectively and safely and how the flat side is a step forward in instrumentation by breaking most of the same from other systems. Is it possible to treat something which is unable to see : File separation handling The microscope is a fundamental part of our daily lives. Without the microscope it is impossible to do complex treatments such as retrive separate instruments. Separate instruments inside the canals have increased exponentially due to the greater number of colleagues with access to mechanized files and the inevitable number excessive of uses. However, nowadays with the help of adequate protocols, ultrasounds and other tools we can solve these cases with a more confident attitude. In this talk I will share my protocols and techniques for removing these instruments.

Shaping and cleaning: how heat-treated alloys are the new standard in Endodontics. Since nickel titanium instruments were introduced to the market, they have revolutionised Endodontics. Instrument design has varied, but the problems remained the same, separation. New alloys have changed the standards again. Novel instrument designs and increased resistance to fracture have revolutionised shaping and cleaning possibilities. The RaCe EVO and XP family of instruments have set a new level. Bioceramics-from obturation to regeneration. Expanding the possibilites of endodontic therapy. Since Torebinejad introduced MTA in 1996, more teeth have become saveable. The latest generation of these materials have improved usability and expanded treatments being provided to patients. Vital pulp therapy, obturation, perforation repair and surgical endodontics have now become even more predictable with ever improving outcomes.

Making the endodontic management of complicated canal systems simple, safe and predictable. A new approach with Hyflex CM and EDM files The design and biological objectives of root canal treatment manipulation are well described in the contemporary art of Endodontics. Achieving these objectives in straight canals is considered a simple and straightforward procedure with all instrumentation systems available today. The problems of biomechanical instrumentation and obturation of the root canal systems arise when the internal anatomy of human teeth is rendered severely curved or even bifurcated and anastomotic. In such teeth, the accepted basic endodontic techniques and instrumentation protocols may be challenging to follow. The aim of this lecture is to describe a new instrumentation technique with Hyflex controlled memory (CM) and electrical discharge machined (EDM) files for the safer and more predictable instrumentation of severely curved and challenging canals systems.
