What’s On in Tonbridge The first heated public swimming pool in England was in Tonbridge, it opened in 1910 complete with ‘dressing sheds’. And in 1920 we caused a national scandal by allowing mixed bathing there on Sundays. Its modern replacement continues this unusualness by linking its heated indoor and outdoor pools with a tunnel through the wall - a swim-through channel. And it offers many activities for everyone. The range on offer in this booklet is huge and diverse covering all ages and abilities - from ballet for babies to walking football for seniors. Bell ringing? to qualify you only need to be able to climb stairs and count to eight. If you prefer to exercise your mind, the choice ranges from poetry reading breakfasts through to adult-only comedy nights via various information societies. If you prefer to browse we have on offer Contents the South East’s largest model railway from Page 5 exhibition through to a festive vegan fair What’s On and many types of indoor and outdoor each week markets inbetween. Singers can choose from our Tuneless Choir to the Tonbridge from Page 13 What’s on Philharmonic via soul, rock and theatre in November music. Players can enjoy sci-fi games, bridge, bowling, baseball, marching bands, from Page 21 the list is endless. Spectator? - how about What’s On our promotion-seeking rugby and football in December teams, or a seat at one of our beautiful from Page 26 theatres? What’s On Nothing to do in Tonbridge? - the truth is in January we’re brimming over with choice, you just from Page 28 need to look. With our Castle, river and What’s On parks, Time Out recently voted Tonbridge in February the No. 1 must-visit spot near London. If you would like your event, meeting or match listed free of charge in the next issue of What’s On in Tonbridge, and it takes place in Tonbridge, please email details to susan@susanadamsbusinessservices.com. Make the subject “What’s On” and supply the day, date, time, event name, brief description, venue, entry price if any, and contact details for the public. For advertising enquiries, email Susan Adams as above. Deadline for our next issue (1 March to 30 June 2020) : 20 January 2020 What’s On in Tonbridge is produced by Tonbridge Town Team for the information of the town’s residents and is distributed free of charge. Please support our advertisers, without whom this booklet would not be possible. All information is included in good faith and no responsibility is taken for any issues arising from the contents. Please check details before attending as we cannot be held responsible for any date changes, cancellations or misrepresentation of events.
