Exhibitions 12.45-4.00pm Art, Design Technology & Engineering Exhibitions OBS Gallery: Art, Design Technology & Engineering Exhibition: On Track, a celebration of selected Art from all year groups and Design, Technology & Engineering Leavers Tunnel Gallery: Art, Photography and Design Exhibition: Imagine, selected Art and Photography GCSE and Design, Technology & Engineering IGCSE Art Studios: Pre-U Art Leavers Exhibition: Off the Beaten Track, a celebration of Upper Sixth Form Leavers’ Art Vere Hodge Centre: IET Formula 24+ – Display of the electric car that has been designed, built and tested by students to compete in the Greenpower racing series. Robotics in action - a demonstration of the FANUC Robot Arm and a display of the robots developed and manufactured within the department as part of the Robotics Society. 12.45 - 1.15pm Scenes from Macbeth, the Lower Sixth Play in the BSC Atrium 1.30 - 2.00pm GCSE Devised performances in the EM Forster Studio Theatre 1.30 - 2.00pm The E.M. Forster Prose Fiction and Tom Staveley Poetry The E.M.Forster prose fiction competition, invited boys to write short stories of 2002000 words on any subject, and the Tom Staveley poetry competition with poems of up to 40 lines. The prizes are judged, by published poets and novelists ( Jonathan Edwards and Ben Davis), across three age-groups, Novi, Intermediate (Second and Third years) and Seniors (Sixth Formers). Today’s readings will feature winners from each category across both competitions and a short film by Ben Edwards in the BSC Atrium.


Barton Science Centre - A world-class hub for teaching, learning, innovation and discovery. Tonbridge's state-of-the-art Barton Science Centre, which opened in the Spring of 2019, puts sicence and technology at the very heart of the school. One of the most ambitious developments to happen on the campus since the first science building was constructed in 1887, the three-storey centre combines new classrooms and latest technology with many original architectural features. Do come and look around the Chemistry, Biology and Physics Departments as well as the atrium, the interactive periodic table, a TV wall, a bee hive - just a few of the many features.


Archives: Historic films and Nicolson Exhibition in the Games Porch A display of photographs and images of E. James Brindley Nicolson, V.C. [Welldon House 1930-34] along with footage from the Queen Mother's visit in 1953 and a promotional film of "Tonbridge 1988" shown on the screen. Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast at 3.06pm To mark the 79th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain we will have the opportunity to see the Hurricane, and potentially a Spitfire, fly over The Head, kindly organised by Mr Chris Yates (Welldon House parent) in conjunction with Headcorn Airfield. James Brindley Nicolson (OT) was awarded the VC when only 23 years old following his heroic flight in the Hurricane on 16 August 1940. Community Action: a display outlining some of our local projects and partnerships, the ongoing link with Child Action Lanka with updates on the Batticaloa Education Centre Appeal, and the recent Colour Run, in front of the Orchard Centre. Music 2.00 - 2.30pm Orchestral Concert: The Symphony Orchestra performs one of the most recognisable and infamous pieces of all time, Beethoven Symphony No.5, in the Chapel. 3.15 - 4.00pm Big Band and Vocal Consort: An informal end to the music year with close harmony numbers for the Vocal Consort and a mixture of Swing, Latin and Funk from the Big Band, in the Marquee.


Science 2.15-2.55pm The Science of Fireworks: The demonstration filled talk will focus on everything you want to know about a Firework and more! A fun-filled explosive event involving colours, bangs and whooshes, in the BSC Atrium. The Smythe Library: Essays Displays showcasing the Greenwood Legacy, E.M. Forster Prize, Staveley Prize, Chichele Essay plus other historical fiction and Old Tonbridgian publications.
