Join Vanessa King and LSO players to sing, listen, move and groove your way through interactive and creative music sessions. In age-based groups of no more than 15, your child will receive individual attention as well as the chance to interact with others.

Vanessa King and LSO musicians invite you on a magical musical journey. Who knows what you’ll meet along the way – dancing giraffes, singing bears, angry trolls or greedy crocodiles? Come along and find out!

The Dream, the Witch and the Waltz Family Concert for 7- to 12-year-olds Sun 18 Mar 2.30pm–3.30pm Barbican It’s time to grab your dancing shoes, magic wand and … a raincoat as we head on a mind boggling journey through one man’s dreams and quite possibly the strangest love story ever told. We’ll be dancing at a masked ball, sheltering from thunder storms and casting witches’ spells as Rachel Leach takes us through the music and madness of Berlioz’ Symphonie fantastique. Like five different stories rolled into one, each scene opens onto a new adventure for all the family, each one more fantastical than the next! LSO Discovery Day: British Composers

A gamelan is a musical ensemble from Indonesia featuring gongs, metallophones, drums and bamboo flutes. The Gamelan Group offers sessions for beginners through to experienced players, so anyone can have a go. Tickets £6 (£4 concessions) per week

Artist Conversations

A unique opportunity to gain insight into the work of British contemporary composers. The morning will give access to an LSO rehearsal, with the afternoon featuring a talk between contemporary music experts, composers and professional performers. This will be followed by a performance of some of the works discussed. In the spring series of lunchtime concerts, Rachel Leach introduces British composers from across the centuries, with musicians from the LSO and Guildhall School.

Join the LSO St Luke’s Community Choir and their conductor David Knotts as they dust off their glad rags and polish up their top C’s for a glittering night at the opera. With music by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi they’ll explore tales of love, jealously and intrigue from the world of opera and operetta.
