Message from the President It was a dream come true for many of us…after a series of informal and formal meetings , deliberations, brainstorming…..the end result was quite exciting: the formation of a new Rotary club, that too an E-club! I am quite privileged and honoured to be a part of this endeavor and become the Charter President, and I am deeply indebted to our GSR (Governor’s Special Representative), Rtn Dr Sekhar Wariar, without whose guidance and help, this wouldn’t have been a reality. The fact that there were only 3 past Rotarians amongst us wasn’t a hindrance at all in the formation of a new club. Most of the charter members evolved as matured Rotarians in a very short period, and were willing to take initiatives and responsibilities on their own. I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks and appreciation to IPDG Rtn Rajkumar, former AG Rtn Ravindranath, IPP Rtn Bijo K John, Past Secretary Rtn Dennis Louiz of Rotary Club of Cochin City, our parent club, without whose support we wouldn’t have received the charter on time. Our DG Rtn Major Donor Dr Ajay Kumar, AG Rtn Mathew Varghese, District Secretary Rtn Rajmohan Nair, and all District officials have assured their fullest support to this new initiative of ours! Friends, it’s just the beginning only..we’ve a long way to go and our first objective is to strengthen fellowship and camaraderie amongst fellow Rotarians, understand and imbibe the virtues and values Rotary stands for, and in the process build a strong foundation for our club. We need to bring in more members, the youth in particular, and ensure that all avenues of Rotary are being taken care by us. With all the geographical limitations, we must try to serve the poor and needy back home, and many clubs, including our parent club, Rotary Cochin City have promised to support us in our community service endeavors! We intend to roll out our activities related to vocational service and community service in the month of November. Special focus should be given to the District Governor’s flagship project for this Rotary year ‘Pachakarma’, and we should deliberate as to how we can get involved in those projects. Wishing all my fellow Rotarians, Anns & Annettes a fantastic Rotary year ahead, and may the spirit of Onam bring all happiness, peace and joy in your professional and personal life! Best Regards, Yours in Rotary Rtn PHF Tommy Joseph President Rotary E-Club of Cochin Cosmos

Message from the Assistant Governor (Dist 3201) Dear President Rtn. Tommy, Secretary Rtn. Abby & friends and family of Rotary club of Cochin Cosmos, Warm greetings to you from Rotary District 3201 Secretariat and our beloved District Governor Major Donor Rtn. Dr. Ajai Kumar. A belated Onam wish to all the members and family of Cochin Cosmos. Onam will surely bring back fond memories to all the Malayali population across the globe. The harvest festival of Kerala is celebrated in all its grandeur by one and all, irrespective of their religion, social or financial status. It also reminds us of the good old days of King Mahabali and the Vamana avatara of Vishnu, as a homecoming for the King to visit his land and people. Standing up for the Truth and the Ethics of keeping ones word, come what may, which is the take away from the mythical King Mahabali’s story goes very well with the Rotary 4 way test, in text and content. The King also served his people beyond his self, which aligns with our Rotary motto of Service above Self. I am sure King Mahabali and Vamana, while meeting up in Cosmic space would not have imagined groups of Rotarians meeting in Cyber Space one day. May I take this opportunity to wish one and all a very happy and Prosperous year ahead. May God bless you and fill your heart with joy & happiness. May the colors and lights of Onam fill your homes with happiness and joy. Have the most beautiful Onam and a wonderful year ahead. Warm Regards, Rtn Mathew Varghese Asst Governor 2013-14 RI Dist 3201
