Emmanuel College was founded in 1584 by Sir Walter Mildmay, Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I, on the site of a former priory of the Dominican Order, also known as the Black Friars. Situated in the heart of Cambridge the College has extensive and tranquil gardens and a beautiful Chapel by Sir Christopher Wren. Our impressive public rooms and gardens make an ideal venue and our staff work hard to make a wedding at Emmanuel College an unforgettable experience.

Booking Conditions Booking a wedding at Emmanuel is easy. If you wish to get married in the Chapel this must be agreed at a meeting with the Dean and Members of College should be able to obtain the necessary license without difficulty. A connection with the College is compulsory in order to marry in the Chapel – the College does not hold a Civil License. Arrangements will then be discussed with the Conference and Catering offices at the College. There is a Venue Charge of £2000.00 plus VAT (with a 50% reduction for Members of College) which covers use of the College rooms and gardens, and includes the use of the College silver cake stand, a room for the Bride on the day and all service charges. The maximum number of guests is 130 and we look for the minimum number of 100. To confirm the booking the College requires a non-returnable deposit of £1000.00 plus VAT. After your wedding a single account will be sent to the given address (less the deposit) and this should be settled within 28 days. Your choice of menu and wines should be confirmed at least one month before the event and final numbers of guests 15 days prior (minor adjustments may be made up to 48 hours prior and this number will be used for final invoicing). We reserve the right to move the event to a more suitable room if numbers should drop by more than 20% of the original estimate. Please note that confetti is not allowed and there should be no walking on the lawn in Front Court. There are a number of large ponds in the College grounds and children must be supervised at all times. Guests are asked to leave quietly by 11.30pm so as not to disturb members of College in residence. VAT at the current rate will be added to the final bill.
