The substretch goes from the municipalities of Casas de Millán and Cañaveral, in the province of Caceres, Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura. The stretch has a longitude of 6.581 km, with its origin in KP 233+400 and final in KP in KP 239+981,110. The origin of the stretch is approximately a kilometre and two hundred metres before the train line Madrid – Valencia de Alcántara, in its north and south direction, in a right curve of a radius of 7.500 metres- After the before mentioned curve, common with the previous stretch and of 4.660,848 m of circular development in this development and its correspondent spiral, of parameter A=1.950 and longitude 507,000 m, it is disposed a straight line of 923,622 m of longitude. Finally, it is designed a left curve of a radius of 7.250 m and an spiral of a parameter A=1.615,549, with 360 m of longitude. As singular elements of the substretch, we have two viaducts, one over the Pizarroso Stream and another viaduct over the Valdetravieso Stream and a cross under the Divided Highway A-66 Ruta de la Plata that is realized through a superior crossing. With the Viaduct over the Pizarroso Stream, of a longitude of 782 m, and localized between the kk.pp. 234+574,000 and 235+356,000 respectively, it is resolved in the first term the crossing of the conventional train line from Madrid to Cáceres (k.p. 234+580), currently in service, and in the second term, water course, of soft relief, of the Pizarroso Stream and a short course affluent of the same. With the Viaduct over the Valdetravieso Stream, of a longitude of 1.614 m, and located between the kk.pp. 235+497,500 and 237+111,500 respectively, it is resolved the crossing over the water course, of soft relief, of the Vadetravieso Stream, that converges in the Pizarroso Stream and some short course affluents of this last one.

The construction project includes the platform jobs of the stretch Villalgordo del Jucar – La Gineta. The developed rout pays attention to all the determining factors coming from the prescriptions of the Environmental Impact Statement Resolution (31/01/03) and from the approval resolution of the Public Information file and definitive Informative Research. The 17,252 km long stretch goes north-south. The minimum radius used is of 7.250 m. Due to geographical conditions, the route develops a bidirectional tunnel in a straight stretch with a 24,8% ascendant slope, a viaduct over the river Júcar and an artificial tunnel with a 25% slope. Between K.P. 604+110 and K.P. 605+510, a 1400 metres long commuting point has been located, in straight stretch with a 2,01% uniform slope Along the stretch two roads and several tracks are intercepted, and in KP 614+060 the railway crosses over the river Júcar and in KP 615+846 the Cañade Real Conquense. 20 Basins are intercepted. The railway section has a total width of 14 metres in the coronation of the subballast layer. The considered track width is 1,435 metres, the platform is defined for a double way track. In both tunnels a circular section is adopted. According to the projected structures: a viaduct of poststressed concrete of constant edge, thirteen overpasses of continuous beam with section of lightened slab of reinforced concrete and four underpasses of reinforced concrete (three of them for animals). The Júcar tunnel of 640 metres long, has a free 100 m² section with an interior 6,86 metres radius, centred at 1,83 metres over the railway level. The drainage system consists of a principal pipe of 150mm which is placed inside a concrete drainage channel of 1,67x0,75 m and 15 cm thickness containing the pipe , being under it a principal PVC drainage collector pipe. The 208 m long artificial tunnel of La Cañada has a circular cross section of reinforced concrete, with an interior radius of 6,04 m centred at 1,83 m over the rail surface. The affected easements have been replaced, projecting lateral and transverse traces to the rout and to the irrigation pipes affected by the infrastructure, allowing this way an improvement of the permeability and continuation of the services. A total siding for the infrastructure has been developed in both borders with cinegetic nets and 21 doors, each 2 Km or in accessible locations, 14 of which are for lorries access and 7 of them for small vehicles. The rout intercepts 6 mid tension electric lines. The replacement of these lines has been planned with different solutions depending on the problem raised, like the movement of posts to a new location, its substitution and the addition of posts, modifying thereby the plan of some lines. Once the project is finished and the construction tender won, the Technical Assistance on platform works control will be developed.

Double-track structure in the new high speed rail IMPLEMENTATION OF A DOUBLE-TRACK STRUCTURE IN THE HIGH SPEED TRAIN IN LINE MADRID-MURCIA

Location: Term of work: Main use: Client:

Madrid, SPAIN November 2008 - October 2009 Double-track structure Adm. Infraestructuras Ferroviarias

Design and draft project:

TECOPY

Surface area: Budget:

The Ministry of Development awarded the works to be done within the section Getafe-Pinto, in the province of Madrid, of the Levante New High Speed Railway Line: Madrid-Castilla La Mancha-Comunidad Valenciana-Región de Murcia. This project is aimed to install double-track between Getafe and Pinto. The layout of the future High Speed double-track section Madrid-Torrejón de Velasco, from its beginning to the crossing point with the railway line linking Madrid to Alicante, is parallel to the current High Speed line Madrid-Seville (west of it, average distance: approximately 20 m between the axes of both structures). It is not possible for the double-track line to be independent all line long because of that railway infrastructure and other kind of infrastructure existing around the area where the project will be carried out. This is why the new double-track runs parallel to MadridSeville line, they use the same viaducts: over the River Manzanares, the A-4 motorway and the aforementioned railway line linking Madrid and Alicante, and an artificial tunnel parallel to the existing one. However, the future railway line must run under the spans of the structures making up the interchange formed by the M-50 motorway and the slip roads linking this motorway and the R-4. Within this section, the future railway will pass under six existing structures. The side spans of four of the six structures, through which the new railway infrastructure should pass, are less than 16 m. Because of that, a new High Speed line, parallel to the present one (MadridSeville) should be constructed, and in this way, the route of the future double-track could be independent of other lines, and could pass safely under the M-50/R-4 interchange. Activities carried out within this project to develop the crossing point under the interchange structures de la M-50 is based on the modification of the current High Speed line Madrid-Sevilla in order to make possible that the two tracks, together with the future ones (direction Torrejón de Velasco) pass through the spans, so that any pier and abutment is placed less than 5 m far from the axes of the different tracks and, therefore, there is no need for reinforcing any of the existing piers. The procedure followed is as follows: firstly, to modify the single-track railway Sevilla-Madrid (left track taking the direction MadridTorrejón de Velasco), in order to make it pass through the left side span of the six structures. And then, the single-track railway MadridSeville is setback. In this way, the line that is now free can be used as much as possible for the construction of the new line. Likewise, the structure by which the single-track Madrid-Seville runs now will be used as much as possible for the construction of the singletrack railway Torrejón de Velasco-Madrid of the future railway corridor. Finally, the single-track railway Madrid-Torrejón de Velasco of the future corridor will pass through the right side spans of the six structures.

This project responds to the expansion of the T4 tramway line included in the “Special Infrastructures Plan for the Tertiary Area Heron City in Paterna”. The aim is to connect the tramway network of Valencia’s subway system to the tertiary complex ‘Heron City’ and its adjacent housing developments in the municipality of Paterna. This is achieved by the extension of the T4 tramway line which currently ends al Mas del Rosari. The proposed solution for the extension crosses the Plaça de l’ Alcudia and the Plaça de L’ Olleria up to Sueca Street where the tramway will go through the plot of land currently occupied by the Santa Catalina de Siena Monastery to the Francisco Tomás y Valiente Avenue. From there it will continue through that avenue turning after the Cruz de Gracia housing development.

The urban character of Feria Valencia creates a constant dialogue with the residents and neighbourhoods of the city. Initially, however, its location posed a number of complex challenges. As the urban growth of the area impeded any further extension of the Fair, creative and bold solutions had to be found. One inconvenience was the busy traffic on the road that crossed the exhibition center. A connection axis with the access motorway is created, using the new underpass as a traffic interchange and the bridges and footbridges over the CV-31 motorway to connect the circulation with the fair complex. This also allows converting the large green plaza into a pedestrian space. The large subterranean car parks acts like an interchange which differentiates between public and private transport, were designed to improve accessibility to the Trade Fair. The new exhibition complex operates on two scales: the urban and the human. Despite the fact that the buildings constructed conform a large volume, a hierarchy was established: an order for access to the Fair that makes it accessible and harmonious with the surrounding urban environment. Feria Valencia is now a friendly environment, eminently pedestrian, around a large landscaped reception plaza, favorable even for family leisure.

The project is strategically located within the metropolitan area of Alicante and Elche, equidistant from both cities and directly connected to the A-7 motorway and the international airport of El Altet. The expansion of the complex entails improving the connection with the N-340 road and connecting IFA with Vía Parque, a new fast track that joins Alicante with Elche and other towns in the metropolitan area. In the future, IFA visitors will also be able to use other means of transport, such as the light-rail metro and train, since the line that runs alongside the current site will be extended to make way for the high-speed railway line Madrid-Alicante-Murcia. For the institution, this offers the opportunity of sharing an intermodal station with the airport, which strengthens its possibilities as a services center. In the masterplan, a green space is reserved parallel to the railway line in order to minimize its visual impact and give continuity to other landscaped areas contemplated within the adjacent urban sector. The design includes a bicycle lane and a pedestrian route that will improve urban quality and increase local use of IFA and its surroundings. Overall, the design dedicates 50,000 m2 to gardens and palm groves, giving the ensemble a fully Mediterranean character while generating minimal impact on the territory. The project contemplates the design of new pavilions that will make it possible to increase the exhibition space and capture new events that respond to the needs of Alicante´s business fabric. In addition a conference center, a multifunctional pavilion and a business center will support the trade fair activity. The large outdoor gallery that connects all of these spaces is articulated as a lightweight roof structure that creates a play of shadow and light to mitigate the excess sunlight. As well as organizing the flow of visitors and users, this space could become one more exhibition area within the complex.
