Rice Krispies Treats 3 Tablespoons of margarine or butter 10 ounces of marshmallows, large or mini 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal Spray the bowl with non-stick spray, (we used Pam). Melt margarine or butter and marshmallows in large microwave-safe bowl for 2 minutes, stir and heat for an additional minute. Stir to cool and mix in the cereal. Quickly spread the mixture into a 13x9x2 pan coated with cooking spray. Cut into 2-inch squares when cool OR Quickly spread the mixture onto a wax-paper lined cookie sheet with greased hands or gloves. Use cookie cutters to cut-out shapes. ***you may add food coloring to the butter/marshmallow mixture AND you may add sprinkles to the cereal mixture. We added decorating icing to the designs.


Hot Chili Dip 1 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened 1 can of chili with no beans, I use Hormel 1 small can of black olives, sliced 4-5 ounces of monterrey or cheddar cheese, shredded

Spread cream cheese in a rectangular pyrex dish. Add the olives and then the chili. Top with cheese and heat in the oven until cheese melts. Serve with Tostidos or corn chips!


Turk’s Turban 1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts, chopped 1 (10-ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, cooked and drained 2 cups sour cream or plain yogurt 1 cup mayonnaise 1 package imported vegetable soup mix, I used Knorr’s 1 round loaf pumpernickel or rye bread

Combine first five ingredients and refrigerate two hours. Before serving, cut a hole in the top of bread. Take out bite-sized pieces and place on serving tray around bread. Put refrigerated ingredients in bread bowl. For ease in serving, use a serving knife or spoon to spread dip on bread pieces. When pieces are used up, guests should cut bread bowl and dip in.


Ms. Childs’ personal pizzas 1 bag of mini-bagels 1 jar of Pizza sauce 1 pkg. of pizza cheese 1 pkg. of pepperoni slices

1. Split open the bagels. 2. Spread one spoonful of pizza sauce on each bagel half. 3. Top with cheese and pepperoni or any other topping that you want. 4. Place in oven for 5-6 minutes on 350. 5. Eat and enjoy!

Salsa Recipe ½ of a small onion

1 pound of diced ripe tomatoes, (possibly use canned tomatoes if vine ripe are not available)

¼ cup of cilantro leaves or parsley

1 Tablespoon of lime juice

1 minced garlic clove

¼ teaspoon of salt

Place all ingredients in a blender and mix for 1 minute. Serve with chips and ENJOY!!!

Hot Cheese dip 1 pound white Mexican cheese, cubed ½ cup milk, or as needed 1 tablespoon butter or margarine 2 (4 ounce) cans chopped green chiles 2 teaspoons cumin 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons onion powder Cayenne pepper to taste Place Cheese, milk and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Cook until cheese has melted, stirring frequently. Stir in green chiles, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Add more milk if dip is too thick. Heat thoroughly and serve immediately with chips!


French Onion Dip 8 ounces of sour cream ½ package of Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce Mix all ingredients in a bowl and serve with potato chips. Keep refrigerated, if there is any left.

CHILI 1 medium onion, chopped 2 ½ pounds ground chuck Brown meat and onion in a large Dutch oven on stove top. Drain well. Add: 2 cans (16 oz. each )diced tomatoes ½ can of tomato paste ¼ tsp. Tabasco 1 T salt 1 T paprika ¼ tsp. crushed red pepper ¼ tsp. ground cumin Add seasonings and simmer for 1 hour. Just before serving, add 2 cans of dark red kidney beans, drained, and serve.


Chocolate Fondue 6 unsweetened chocolate squares 1 cup light whipping cream 1 ½ cups sugar ½ cup butter 1/8 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla

Heat all except the vanilla. Stir until chocolate melts. Stir for 5 minutes until thick, then add vanilla. This can be done in the microwave. Serve in a fondue pot or chafing dish with pineapple chunks, angel food cake chunks or whole strawberries. You will need to use long bamboo skewers to dip in fondue. Enjoy!
