leading the way News from in & around our school and community
With grateful hearts for God’s continued faithfulness and blessings, we completed our twenty-second school year. Lord willing, this year marked the first of many more events here at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy – one recently being the first graduation ceremony in our permanent school home. May 30th was a great time of celebration and thankfulness as several of the eighth grade students shared testimonies of the incredible influence their parents, teachers and other Trinity Oaks families made in their lives. What an outstanding group of young men in Christ these students are and we look forward with great anticipation to see how God will use them in the years to come. Throughout this past school year, our students have enjoyed daily training and nurturing from the teachers – not only in reading and writing, but also in discerning truth and acting and living wisely from a biblical perspective. We are so very proud of your children for going above and beyond what is required of them to truly shine for the Lord! As we look forward to what God has in store for us this coming school year, we covet your prayers for the ministry of Trinity Oaks. A heartfelt thank you for your continued support and partnership that make our work and the education of our students possible - together we will continue to equip the next generation with wisdom, knowledge, and character in order to impact the world for Christ with servants’ hearts.

Did you know?
Meet the Prairie Club - 4th graders Declan Palmquist, Alex Noe and Jordyn St. John along with 6th graders Brian Haglund, Noah Kitchen and Lexi Stewart who help Mrs. Doubleday tackle those invasive plants on the prairie!
Did you know that our new school home has a 4.6 acre prairie in the backyard!!?? And this is no ordinary prairie either. The Cary Prairie is one of only five dry-mesic gravel prairies in the state of Illinois and is home to several plants and arthropod species that are even considered to be rare! Yet another amazing blessing to enjoy from our one and only Creator! Under the direction of Mrs. Doubleday and representatives from the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, our students actually play an integral part in taking care of and maintaining this very distinctive nature preserve.
Honorable mention Trinity Oaks Christian Academy is proud to recognize the academic achievements of Brian Dorn and Peter Guadagno as the valedictorian and salutatorian of the graduating class of 2013. Congratulations to the both of you and may God continue to guide your ways.

Class of 2013 Salutatorian Peter Guadagno
Attending Trinity Oaks Christian Academy since 2nd grade, Brian is grateful for his time here as it has helped him to develop his relationship with Christ, provided him with academic excellence and has left a lifelong memory being on the Huskies Boys Basketball team. Brian will be attending Prairie Ridge High School next fall and is enrolled in all honors classes with the desire to one day code iOS applications for iPhones or iPads. For those still at Trinity Oaks, Brian shares these words – one needs “hard work, diligence and putting your faith in God” to get the most out of your education. Brian, may God continue to direct your path – and may you be fruitful in your faith as you begin the next chapter in your life “giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge.” (2 Peter 1:5) Peter has been attending Trinity Oaks for five years and is thankful for the spiritual and academic foundation he received here, helping him to stay firm in his faith in Christ. Keeping his life verses Matthew 7:13-14 close to heart, Peter will be attending Jacobs High School where he plans on participating in soccer, cross country/track and connecting with a Christian club. For the next generation of Huskies, Peter offers these words of advice – “having a good attitude is the key to success and staying strong in your faith.” God has indeed done great things in your life, Peter- may “His joy continue to be your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
The Husky Award Goes to...Justin Rutherford!
Academic Success. Spiritual Leadership. Service Dr. Wrobbel with Justin Rutherford to Others. It is no wonder that this year’s Husky this year’s Husky Award recipient. Award was given to Justin Rutherford, a young man who definitely exemplifies the spirit of Trinity Oaks in these areas along with so many more! Having attended since kindergarten, Justin has made quite an impact by showing others what it means to excel at Trinity Oaks and shares these words, “cherish your walk with Christ not taking it for granted.” Thankful for how Trinity Oaks has prepared him academically and spiritually for high school, Justin will be attending McHenry West High School in the fall and plans on playing basketball, soccer and running cross country. And what keeps Justin grounded – his life verse Matthew 6:34. Justin, as you continue your future endeavors, may you hold tight to God’s truth of “not worrying about tomorrow” knowing that the LORD our God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Teacher Appreciation We are blessed with the incredible talents and gifts of our teachers – those who touch the lives of their students and their families in so many ways – from teaching our Huskies a biblical worldview to building them up to have servants’ hearts for Christ in all areas of life. On April 11th, Trinity Oaks was honored to recognize several members of our faculty for their faithful years of service – thank you ladies for letting your light shine for Christ at our school! 5 years:
Kira Depa (Music) Heidi Junge (Jr. High – Science/Bible) Kathy Palmquist (1/2 Day Kindergarten & NILD Therapist) Sue Grosser (5th Grade)
15 years: Cynthia Hodill (1st Grade)
“Every good and perfect gift is from above…” – Mrs. Hodill, Miss Depa, Mrs. Junge, Ms. Grosser and Mrs. Palmquist.
HONORABLE MENTION “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1b Beautiful weather and lots of family, friends and faculty cheering from the sidelines - perfect conditions for our annual Race for Education! Excitement filled the air as students considered the course ahead and anxiously waited to hear the words, “On your mark, get set – GO!!!” The Race for Education is the main, all-school fundraiser at Trinity Oaks hosted by H.O.P.E. and our Huskies were determined to persevere and finish strong this year – which they did just that – over $38,000 raised…so far!!
2nd graders, Owen Galicia, Macy Heine, Kendall Mitchell, Morgan Provance, Ethan Kitchen and Nate Patrick, preparing for the big race!
“I Can Only Imagine” “What if blessings do come from raindrops or healing through tears or even thousand sleepless nights is needed to know that our LORD is near?” These are the heartfelt lyrics from one of the powerful songs shared at this year’s spring concert by our youngest Huskies. Words penned seem so inadequate in comparison to actually hearing God’s promises of heaven sang in one accord by these students as they witnessed with all their hearts, minds and souls the wonderful gift of eternity with our Lord and Savior. PK- 2nd graders giving us a glimpse of what heaven will be like.
7th and 8th Grade Springfield Trip On April 16th, the 7th & 8th grade students boarded the bus and headed to Springfield and Hannibal for their spring trip. Reading and learning about Illinois history can be fascinating – actually visiting and touring many historical sites including the Lincoln Presidential Museum, Lincoln Tomb, New Salem Historical Village, Illinois State Capitol, Mark Twain Cave, and Mark Twain Boyhood Home (just to name a few)….. priceless!
This spring, the “cheep-cheeps” of twenty little chicks filled the TOCA hallways as our fifth grade students completed their hands-on project of embryology.
