he NCST Senior High School students Jaybee Santiago, Rayzil Lacaste, and James Andrew Vertibo bagged the medal from Division Schools Press Conference held at Dasmariñas II Central Elementary School last September 6, 2018.

James Andrew Vertibo made it to the top as he won 3rd place in Sports Writing Filipino.

“Yes, pressure is everywhere because we all know that when we compete RSPC, hundreds of well-trained hopefuls are there but my mindset is to reach my goal because it is a privilege to represent our school,” Vertibo said.

Their mentors Ms. Dazzle Muli and Ms. Jennelyn Macalalay said that they are doing everything to support and provide their needs in training.

The three young men will represent the City Schools Division of Dasmariñas for this upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference to be held at Sta. Cruz, Laguna on first week of November.

he 16 candidates proudly represent their strand as they compete for the one crown where John Patrick Deanon and Carmela Marie Pamatian had been titled as Mr. and Ms. NCST 2018 held at Robinson’s Place, Dasmariñas Cavite on September 28, 2018.

Pamatian won special awards: Best in Formal Wear, Best in School Uniform, Best in Sports Wear.

According to her it was’nt easy to manage her lessons and rehearsals, so she needs to sacrifice.

“I am happy and proud because after all the hardships and sacrifices, it’s

worth it,” she added.

On the other hand, Deanon also get special awards such as Best in Talent, Best in Formal Wear, Sports Wear and Casual Wear. “ I didn’t expect to get those awards because another candidates also present their attire confidently, I was surprised,” Deanon said.

As the new Mr. And Ms. NCST 2018, Deanon and Pamatian planned to tighten the Anti-Bullying and Drug addiction Campaign in NCST SHS to eliminate the victims of bullying and drug addiction.

Together with my fellow student council officers and representatives, we will build a strong foundation for the sake of the students and even the institution,” Salgado said.

She also added that she is willing to accept this privilege as the student leader of her alma mater wholeheartedly.

The remaining 15 classroom presidents stand as the House of Representatives according to their strand.

These officers will serve to iniate, implement and to manage the activities which will be of help to the school, the faculty, the administration and especially the students.

President Duterte Calls God “Stupid”?

s it right to call God stupid? Can it be accepted to said that it is part of Freedom of speech? At 22nd day of June year 2018 at SMX Convention, Lanang, Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte make a big noise in his summit in social society and international world due to his statement on calling God stupid.

Philippines population consists a total percentage of 90% catholics, which is direct part of infidelity toward religions in immoral calling in God’ss name. The president denunciation is clearly a criticism for Catholic beliefs. ”Who is this Stupid God?”, the words that came out from the president’s mouth , which caught the attention of the nation. Undeniably these words had very powerful meaning behind its letters and easy to understand that cannot change the netizens interpretation due to faith that they have in God. The faith that the netizens have is one of the aspect that enlighten him either gives his people an idea to judge him as an individual. We have this law that states the freedom of a individual to express himself (1987 Constituition sec.4 Bill of Rights) . In this manner, the president can only be expressing his views towards God. So, we can’t say that he’s right nor wrong. Because those are his own interpretation, explanation and observation in his surroundings.

The president can either be right or wrong and might be justifiable in his own statement. But before we speak we should think more of being self-less, be considerate about others’s opinion, belief and emotions,

Silent Sanctuary at NCST: Are you IN or OUT?

L

ast September 27, 2018 when NCST opened it’s field to give a warm welcome to one of the pioneer band here in the Philippines --- the Silent Sanctuary. Students, teachers and everyone on that night shed tears as they sang along to the songs the band prepared for them. For a short period of time, they let themselves swayed by the story behind every songs the Silent Sanctuary played. But, before and after that event, the NCST SHS Secret Files had been flooded by numerous rants regarding the mini concert.

Rumors had spread stating that there were no more tickets for the students because it was already bought by the outsiders. As an initial reaction, students demand for another batch of tickets, complained why it is only limited knowing they open doors for the outsiders and all the likes of fulmination in the form of messaging the NCST SHS Secret Files just to be posted on the said page.

The more people people saw it, liked, commented their own insight, and shared to be seen by their acquaintances, the more the issue gets bigger. As a student, when I read the posts regarding the issue, I was shocked and disappointed at the same time. One,

because why do students (whoever send the confession), have to messaged the page instead of asking the organizers of the events or the heads themselves to give the answer they’re asking. Would it be better if they say it to the world anonymously? Does it feel good when you saw other people panicking because they cannot see their favorite band, just because you spread information without any concrete information/evidence?

In this case the said incident were true, then why would they keep on reminding the days left before the said concert?

That seems to be pointless, right?

Personally, I understand those who were afraid that they might lose the chance of seeing the opm band on NCST Field,

but like the old saying always goes: “Think before you click”. Ask and gather concrete news before you post, meditate before you comment and share all the good vibes. Social Media is indeed a wide range community that no one can be able to control what is/might happen, but as an individual, we should not just seek for the right nor left perspective of the situation, let’s try to seek to the bird’s eye view to expand our perspective, understanding and knowledge. Posting online may be as a form of scapegoat to others, but let us always remember to put ourselves on the shoe of the others so we can make this virtual community of ours a better one.

xtracurricular is letting go in a realm of normal books and courses that campuses, universities and colleges administrate to express their students outside the box talents.

Every year, students most galvanazing moment was to hear the announcement about their achievements.

We, the youth of this era loves to share and to express ourselves in different ways.

Extracurricular activities not just only let ourselves bring out the best in us but also to make friends and acquaire sense of camaraderie in our own. Every activities that school is offering is not always for the benefit of them indeed, it is something that can strenghten and deepen the bond between the students and also the employees of the schools. We cannot stay in our own boxes and distance ourselves from everyone. We need to make

the best version of ourselves and show it to the world.

For some reasons, sometimes we accumulate friends through these activities. We don’t just learn and get tired suddenly, but the best thing is you found someone who can help you make memories and friendship. Who would have though that a small extracurricular activity can build a huge friendship. From extracurricular activities we don’t just expirience something we learn and gain something like an extra bond.

ressure is a feeling of urgency due to matters demanding attention that affects every one of us. It is one of the root causes of stress, and with more stress comes negativity.

People who buckle under pressure will most likely think negative thoughts and make the chances of them accomplishing tasks even more slimmer.

Other people say that people who work under pressure, cannot handle their work properly, if they are working and they cannot reach for the deadlines they must say it’s a pressure of others to them because they can’t meet the expectations of that one work.

Pressure can be handled if we have a proper discipline, time management, and a love for your work because with love comes enjoyment and you will less likely feel pressured.

Soaring High

ecoming a part of student council is not that easy, yet it is a privilege and a responsibility you’re going to accept wholeheartedly.

Without your passion in it, expect that nothing will happen. Me, as the newly elected student council president, had only one aim: to be the student’s hovering voice. At first, it’s a pressure for me because I haven’t experienced this kind of obligation in my junior high school. However, I’m always ready to take risks whether it is a matter of my life and death, just to be a good leader of my fellow schoolmates. I’m not saying this to bubble up my reputation, but this is my goal. God destined me to be in this role because He knows I can do this and maybe He had a purpose why He let me be part of this organization.

Not too sound arrogant, but I believe I could gain trust from everybody since my classmates from STEM 121-01 already saw my true self, and they think I’m fit to be one that’s why they elected me as class president since grade 11. This is a new challenge for me, to test my strength and I’m prepared to undertake any results.

Sometimes I was beaten up by my weaknesses but I’m ready to face my fears. I’m not perfect, yet I’m doing my best to learn from my mistakes so that I could be. I know everybody are highly expecting me to provide what they want and need, but one thing is for sure, I’ll always be neutral. I’ll always be on the right side. It’s my goal to take everything on top. Because for the sake of all, I’m soaring high to yield the leash.

One time, my school volunteered to donate school supplies at Rizal that is, I was lucky to be one of the chosen students to join since all the class presidents were assigned, I’m currently the president of our section. I was so excited when that day came. I woke up in my bed with a smile, then prepared my things, getting ready for the trip.

Together with the other presidents, we were gathered in school first with GMA news to repack the school supplies. After that, we travelled from Damarinas up to Binangonan, Rizal. Probably, inside the van, all the presidents of each class were very quiet at first but later on, became close to each other. I, an introvert person, suddenly decided to join their jokes and laughs. With that, we built a new friendship. Along the way, we drove at Carmona highway going to SLEX. It’s a very long trip with matching traffics.

Eventually,we ate lunch at KFC Sta. Rosa branch and after that, continued to travel. As we entered the border of Laguna and Rizal, I saw the beauty of Laguna Lake wherein there’s a lot of attractive lily pads around. There’s always a sight that I couldn’t forget how nature enlighten me of its magnificence, the embodiment of light and wildlife. When we reached the elementary school that we’re about to visit, we happily approached the children who were exactly waiting for our arrival.

I was stunned to see how happy they were and I couldn’t help but to take selfies with them even though the weather’s not good and there’s rain. This program actually had the goal to give children hope for them to attain their dreamed education.

All of these were filmed by GMA news and was featured in Good News hosted by Vicky Morales. We were guided by our school principal and coordinator along the way and it’s a pleasure to be with them.

As we return, we ate dinner at Jollibee near Alabang and then headed to Daanghari road going back to NCST. As I arrived at home, I couldn’t help but to reminisce what just happened. I realized that no matter what, it is better to give than to receive. Plus the bond being made during the trip, made me appreciate how fortunate I am.

There are only, as scary as it is, tips as to how to grow your own “Sili”, it’s ridiculous to write about it than reading it, to be honest, but let’s not forget that we are Filipinos. We are smart, we will manage, somehow. As for now, all I can say is; it’s either a pepper-less diet or empty pockets.

aied Dimala Jr. captured the gold after beating Renz Patrick Copada of ABM during the 2018 NCST-Senior Highschool Sports Festival Men’s Chess tournament Finals held at NCST Main Campus on September .
